  • I don't know why the heck you did those throat noises, but thanks for the lesson anyway :P

  • are they according to key?

or just play it with semi tones?

  • hope you doin better now, vacation in Jamaica is better

  • I already miss you Andrew, when I dont watch your video for a day, you are addictive :D

  • Not as much in the Classical period? You've obviously never heard the piano works of Mozart. ;)

  • Hello, it's been 2 years, how are your hands now?

  • great, thank you very much!

  • Hanon has very good excercises for the trill. Personally, for a trill, I prefer the fingering 1-2-1-3-1-4-1-5-1-4-1-3 etc. It's been said that Mozart invented that fingering, although I don't know how correct this is. But for longer trills, that extend over several measures, this particular fingering helps my hand not to freeze up and allows for a more even execution. I'm just an amatuer, so it may be bad advice, it just works for me.

  • POLONAISE! HEROIC!

  • What about the really popular acciaccacacaccaacacacacatura ornamentation?

  • @FoxxieCreations , what about it? maybe a good starting point is learning to spell it properly.....

  • Thanks for the video and the awesome advice. Glad to see that your're doing better. Keep hanging in there,

  • pahahah i actually love you, was a useful video but also v.funny :L

  • grassmine; maybe you should read my comment again. I was not being offensive. You on the other hand have just called me a moron; what was that you said about 'having the wrong spirit'?

    Peace to you brother!

  • @choomanfoo

I dunno what he means by "having a wrong spirit" too, but u are a moron. A very stupid moron. A very stupid unappreciated moron.

    I will give u the reason i called u stupid/moron.

    1) If u couldn't understand trill, stop piano.

    2) If u dun like to listen to his experiences and having a good time while learning, u could just skip the part (drag the red bar).

  • @choomanfoo

[Quote] saving the personal information concerning your RSI for a different vid.[End quote]

    It seems pretty much like a complain to me, like "you shud do this" or "u shud do that" because;

[Quote]I just spent at least 15 minutes trying to find how to do a trill. Your explanation left me with many questions,as you spent far too much time talking about your injury.[End Quote]

That's not counted as a complain?

  • @choomanfoo

Sorry to add another reply. Try to take "NOTES". Skip the part u dun like. Like in my previous posts, try to use ur brain improve urself, not by complaining they're not good enough.

  • Houltoke; please go and find somebody else to try and patronize. Or get a life!

  • @choomanfoo

Get a life eh? U know what? i WISHED i got no life. i only got 3hrs a day for me to do my stuff (School + part time). And u're the 1 wasting my time here (Im in the library). Im really angry when some1 say "Go get a life" to me.

I wished i had taken piano lessons when i was young. I regretted very much. And when i found this channel i was so touched. And u just complained. U pretty much makes me angry. But i was trying to lower my tone and try to comment. LoL at patronizing.

  • Houtoke; how come you allow other people to control your emotions? If you're angry about what other people post on YouTube then maybe you should stay off-line for a while and go and lie down somewhere.

I am not your enemy; Go in peace brother!

  • @choomanfoo

And this is my last posts to u, u wasted my fking 1hrs.

This is for ur own sake. Try to take notes. Dun be dependent on others. Dun complain if u cant get their meaning. Try to be creative, take notes and summarize them then rewrite them in order for urself to understand, or u can just use ur own way and etc. And be grateful to him for giving out free lessons when he can just CHARGE u for some fees.

    No more seeing u.

  • Houltoke; you appear to be in need of some serious anger management therapy. If you have any real friends then maybe you should ask them for their honest opinion concerning your behavior.

  • @choomanfoo

Yup thats true, u can check my acc. I have been watching youtube for years but i srsly seldom comments. But recently im having shitty problems and when i found something this awesome that can help me n others i cant stand ppl complaining.

Thats good of u telling me to get other frens for their oppinions and i had. I know who i am and i know what am i doing. And now im not trying to patronize u.

I thank you for telling me who i am. And what i said. But Im not angry because of....

  • @choomanfoo

dang i cant reply the continue parts its error-ing lol.btw,I dun think i've got anger problems coz i dun snap at ppl.Sorry english is my 3rd language, mayb i expressed my words wrongly.btw, i think we should stop here bcoz the points i wanted to say had been said. And u taught me to control my anger too(but im not accepting the patronizing part).Had read all ur posts, read back mine too(try to know why im angry, or just exclude the anger parts).btw i would like to know where u from.

  • @choomanfoo

U spent 15 minutes and u couldn't do a trill?? U should stop piano. Go play something else. And try to appreciate this master's hard work. He is personally giving out free lessons for everyone! All his video lengths about 20 minutes. Try to think how much time he spent to plan his lesson videos and to take his videos. Try to appreciate dude.

  • My Dear Houltoke; maybe you should read my comment again. I was not being offensive, neither was I the only one who mentioned the fact that the whole explanation may have been done more concisely.

    Peace to you brother!

  • Odd, that Menuet in G looks like one that a book I have says is Bach. A bit of Googling seems to suggest that no-one is sure whether Bach or Petzold wrote it. It's also the second piece of music I've tried to play, although without any ornamentation (I suppose they deliberately left them out in the learning-piano-for-children book I picked up for free).

  • Nocturne is such an amazing peice @.@ great vid sir

  • It's been over a year since you've posted, has your tendonitis gotten better?

  • Thank you for telling you personal experience. I found it really helpful.

  • @donkeypotato

just skip the part urself if u think his experiences is useless. He started piano since he is 5, and some1 is finding his advices and experiences useful. If u dun like, u can just skip the part. Stop complaining about all these things. U kids these days dunno how to use your brains and dunno how to appreciate people's hard word. All u know is complaining this and that. Hmm?

    SO STOP COMPLAINING!

  • so sad.. tendonitis is badddd

  • it's not your usual lesson when your piano teacher explains how they almost died!

  • I can't hear anything. D:

  • 00:03 "Lesson 11"

    typo.

  • Tritone grace note... NOT. Some more harmonious combination of notes would qualify better for the term grace now would'nt it. Yeah, I'm picky.

  • Who cares... it was just an example

  • yay!! nocturne no.3!! i love that piece too.

    ^_^

  • no.2*

  • What I want to know is how you are allowed to have a 28 minute video when everyone else only gets 10 minutes each on you tube?

  • I was grandfathered into the old director account back in 2006

  • @Lypur you need the time its good :)

  • Thanks, finally I found what's that sign in Menuet in G by J.S. Bach !

  • Thank You very much for best lesson, Dear Sir.

  • 3:55

  • oh, i and this other guy are playing that Minuet in G major as a guitar duet on a small concert next month. it's lovely = 3

  • Hay Andrew!

    love your videos

uuummmm im planning to delve into your lessons during the summer when i have lots of time to practice...

how often shoud i practice and how much time should i spend on each lesson (ie study one lesson, watch it a few times, practice for couple of hours)

    something like that? ...^_^

  • i deal with pericarditis alot ... i work on cardiac floor as an RN ... that sucks!!! hope you're better for the remainder of your life. thanks again, lyp

  • None advice of side-effects - Could have been a lawsuit my friend!!! Medical negligence - hope are you well - I am doing fine down under - still envy your work as per usual. Thanks for spending the precious time

  • I watch one of these every day.

    Thanks lypur

  • excellent. by the way, NSAIDs are the treatment for tendonitis

  • NSAIDS can help relieve pain for tendonitis but don't cure it. BUT Ibuprofen is the treatment for pericarditis which is what Andrew was referring to.

  • Thanks again for great videos, and I'm sorry to hear about the tendinitis.

By the way, that piece looks so unbelievably complicated.

  • Thanks for your explanation of the turn around. I am working on this piece now and I have learned the turnaround on C. It sounds pretty convincing now.

  • Andrew, If I did not enjoy your refreshing teaching method and if I wanted to learn how to trill or if I desired more concise and to the point videos, I would buy a music book and teach myself in that way.

Thank you for your free lessons.

  • thanks again.ive also had tendinitis for 3 years and its not fun.i used to regularly over practice daily and after a few years i developed the symptoms in my right hand.after visiting a few doctors i was diagnosed with hypermobility disorder as well as tendonitis.my joints have always been really flexible, the problem with having overly flexible joints is that your muscles have to work harder to keep the active ligaments in place during movement.anyway if your a hypermobile muscian be careful

  • Now they are coming soo fast that the videos in between this and nr 18 didt show in the subscriptionboc, hehe ! Thats Fast! :) 5*

  • so cool with the slow motion thing...lol

  • hey man i didnt know you were that crazy with the piano, playing chopin polonaise 24 times in a row, how do you get those skills? and another thing, do you and your fiance play 4 handed pieces that would be a beautiful thing, no?
