@DynamoDisaster no, of course not. as a guitarist I know the importance of being yourself, but some songs just shouldn't be covered. Nirvana always made their songs to the fullest. What I mean with this is that changing the song would be utterly pointless, cuz' then you make the song worse. So, you can cover their songs, just don't change them.

All I got to say is I still think Miyavi is one of if not the best Guitarist in the world Currently. To do things like this and "Hit the Road Jack" live on the air for a radio show is phenominal. His covers are great, people will give him flac because of his accent on english words, but I want to see any of these people try to say this is crap to go to another country and sing in their language when it's not your native language. Miyavi is multitalented and his music transcends genres.

It's a shame that MIYAVI isn't well known all over the world yet. I mean, let's get real, his guitar skills are incredible (listen to Selfish love with the intro, that song is pure awesomeness and we all know it) and his style(music and look-wise) is unique. What else do you need? Being able to put on an awesome show? He NAILS that! Being able to mix all sorts of genres in one song? That's what he's all about. He's very talented and it shows in his music... He deserves more recognition.

How is this better than original? Original is slower because it adds intensity to the bitter lyrics,the dark atmosphere shows the real pain of composer. In this cover the meaning is lost,all what is left is cheerful,bouncy guitar play. Singing is blunt,he went for fast speed because slower singing would reveal more mistakes in english and accentuate the bad pronunciation.
@Raymoiful Again, tastes are different and quality doesn't matter as long as someone likes it. And fast music doesn't immediately mean happy. There are songs that are played slowly and sound like sad love songs, but in reality have shocking lyrics when you actually listen. I think it makes a nice contrast :). It's funny listening to a song and realising that it has a completely different meaning than you first thought. The lyrics are still the thing that decide the meaning of a song.
@Raymoiful Oh, and Miyavi actually is capable of perfect English. My theory is that he has to concentrate on speaking correctly though and he can't do that while singing cause it would sound forced. Just a guess though, but Miyavi can speak perfect English with a slight accent for a fact.

@DynamoDisaster no, of course not. as a guitarist I know the importance of being yourself, but some songs just shouldn't be covered. Nirvana always made their songs to the fullest. What I mean with this is that changing the song would be utterly pointless, cuz' then you make the song worse. So, you can cover their songs, just don't change them.
(I also think Miyavi is a bit arrogant, I could have it wrong though.)

People should NEVER cover song without knowing what it is about just because it sounds cool. I have seen Miyavi live 3 times, he is cocky attention whore who loves to be worshipped by squealing fangirls, there is too much pretending. All I got to say is I still think Miyavi is one of if not the best Guitarist in the world Currently. To do things like this and "Hit the Road Jack" live on the air for a radio show is phenominal. His covers are great, people will give him flac because of his accent on english words, but I want to see any of these people try to say this is crap to go to another country and sing in their language when it's not your native language. Miyavi is multitalented and his music transcends genres.

It's a shame that MIYAVI isn't well known all over the world yet. I mean, let's get real, his guitar skills are incredible (listen to Selfish love with the intro, that song is pure awesomeness and we all know it) and his style(music and look-wise) is unique. What else do you need? Being able to put on an awesome show? He NAILS that! Being able to mix all sorts of genres in one song? That's what he's all about. He's very talented and it shows in his music... He deserves more recognition.

How is this better than original? Original is slower because it adds intensity to the bitter lyrics,the dark atmosphere shows the real pain of composer. In this cover the meaning is lost,all what is left is cheerful,bouncy guitar play. Singing is blunt,he went for fast speed because slower singing would reveal more mistakes in english and accentuate the bad pronunciation.

There are songs that are played slowly and sound like sad love songs, but in reality have shocking lyrics when you actually listen. I think it makes a nice contrast :). It's funny listening to a song and realising that it has a completely different meaning than you first thought. The lyrics are still the thing that decide the meaning of a song.
