I picked up a toad like this over the summer to get a closer look at it. It jumped out of my hands and died because it fell three feet onto the well-packed dirt trail. :( Now I always make sure that I'm close to the ground if I want to look at a small toad.

@xgamerx350 I feed mine fruit flies. you can get them at the pet store. "flightless fruit flies" I caught about 30 tadpoles at the creek and now have 5 baby frogs that same size with the others with legs and within a week or so all will be baby toads. More than likely it is the "American Toad".
