I think this movie should not have been done as a musical. The music is adequate, but not exceptional. Stories are often portrayed on stage as musicals to make them easier to present. There are less acting and setting demands with the poetic license of a song.

oh I don't know... I quite enjoyed the music. It wasn't like singasong, singasong the whole time, but there was alot of energy in it. And it was just thoroughly enjoyable in my opinion.

I don't like the bloody scenes (and there are very much of it) but how johnny is singing... its fantastic! i love his voice *Q* he is such a great actor~

I don't like bloody scenes either. At least Burton chose to make them somewhat unrealistic and not very grisly. It bothers me that so many movies are so filled with death and destruction and how we find that entertaining.

yeah ur right. but burton made the blood so unrealistic, because the film should be for people over 16 years! when he had made the blood more realistic, the film wouldn't be for people under 18. i read it somewhere~

I just said that he can sing. By that all I meant was that I had never heard him sing, and was surprised that he COULD sing at all. And that he's a great actor with an accent I wish I had!

But you are quite right that it is much, much more challenging to do that on Broadway.

His singing reminded me of Ewan MacGregor in Moulin Rouge. Ewan sang a bit better though. I wonder if Sacha Baron Cohen actually sang that long high note though!

no it is a broadway shoe, and had been a quite different movie once before, and preceding that had long been a story. The sympathy effect was just recently added though, shortly before it made broadway.
