    By the way, I was thinking, you ought to try and find the USGS topographical maps for the areas where you hike.

    According to what I've read, they are:

    Quogue, NY, Eastport, NY, Moriches, NY, Bellport, NY, Mattituck, NY, Riverhead, NY, Wading River, NY, Middle Island, NY, Patchogue, NY. You should be able to get them at a store that sells stuff for hunters, or directly from the USGS. I have all the ones for our Pine Barrens. Good stuff.

  • I can get topo maps online too. I think there's even a site that offers them for free.
