@Haesten Mild steel is harder to forge weld than wrought iron, but its definitely doable. There are a number of factors that help: - clean off all scale - use flux (Borax at worst) in the joints - limit the amount of oxygen when heating - make sure both pieces are at the same temperature - make sure you get it hot enough (just at/before sparking) but not too hot (sparking so much it falls apart) - practice - confidence

Hi, wat sort of metal are u using? We've experimented at work with normal mild steel for forge welding with not brilliant results. Any suggestions?
