The vid of the nuke going off in the ocean is not a nuke. It was the power source to a saucer that crashed in Area 51. They moved it to a ship in the ocean before they tried to open it to find out how to work it and it went boom!
Wow. Were the letters for the titles those white ceramic ones that went on the black board with the little pins? I had a set up like that for years that my grandfather gave me. He had more stuff for me, but it was stolen along with an old projector when someone broke into his house.
I like the use of the attic with the underside of the pitched roof representing a collasped wall. What was the reaction of your parents & other people who viewed the film at the time? I could imagine 1961 was a tense year with the Berlin wall going up, the Soviets testing the Czar bomb, & the start of the public fallout shelter program....
Im an 80s kid, That was bad enough, But the 60s would have been frightening. People are harping on about global warmin 2-3 degrees here and there. If you strat to drop these things, things get alot hotter alot quicker. Great film. A bit scary but that was the time I guess.
Yeah, my mom was about 10 years old during the cuban missile crisis and never, ever imagined she'd live to see her 16th birthday, let alone live to the year 2008.
@Primetome: Well, I don't know about a 'nuclear summer' as it could be called, but a nuclear winter would be almost inevitable for a time.............
That's pretty cool Kerry. I was 6 years old then and remember the duck and covers in school. You shoulda conked your one pal though who couldn't get the smirk of his face. LOL!!!
Thanks. Yeah...I did conk him. It was the first film he did & I still remember when the camera rolled...he started to laugh. I had to kill him off early!
Ah Kerry, what a frightening time it must have been, especially for young kids of the day... Thankfully I was only 3 at the time otherwise I would have been a mess! Great film, thanks for sharing...

I like Crossroads Baker as much as anyone, but it is hardly typical.
Anyway, plainly cannibalism is not the answer. :-)
