who is this guy on the left? just wanking with metal riffs...sorry to say...I'm all for a shred but put some taste into it...loving the fusion licks from the other guy, really clean...shred fag on the left = messy as fuck
they aren't doing it to perform.. they're just jamming on some downtime while teaching at MI.. This kind of stuff happens all the time while we're at school. It's less about performing the music "stylistically correct" and more about just having fun and jamming over a chord progression and trying to pull of some really insane stuff, just for shitsngiggles...
Don't judge it because they're "overplaying for a blues track".. that's not what it's really about honestly.
"...The brilliant Los Angeles guitarist and instructor Jean-Marc Belkadi has, as he's done with so many guitar approaches, refined dozens of cool ways to use pentatonics. One thing he likes his students to explore is stringskipping lines such as Ex. 12. And, as shown in Ex. 13, Belkadi often handles string skips the smart, convenient, hybrid way—by plucking the higher string with the picking hands middle finger..." page 93, March 09 Guitar Player Issue

hey Ace, I was also @ MI during that time... This was pretty much Jean-Marc's Open counseling sessions. It was great fun. I miss his crazy comments and stuff. There was times when it was standing room only in that tiny room.
I laugh everytime I see this, because, this is what was going on all the time at my school, @ the Musicians Institute when I went there 2005-2007. I had a blast! The guy to the left was my privateteacher for awhile. I laugh about some of these comments too, I would want to see some of these cocky-comment guys actually sit down with these guys and jam, 99% of you wouldn't even dare!
I think they are both great in different ways. Isn't this the reason why they played the song together - to show diversity in styles and approaches. Let's stop typing and play guitar.
You and Ernst are just too damn good for your own good! =) I personally think you'd sound even better if you lost the FX, but that's just me! Mind-blowing stuff! Thanks...

the guy on the left needs to practice more improv or theory, and not put so much emphasis on grinding out scales...
coolmodine 4 years ago 3
hah funny when there was this other guy who told me theory was 'worthless' xD
he seemed a little ignorant...

lol the guy on the left gives off too many unmelodic notes and solos. Tho the guy on the right is way slower, his melody is way better
jimrulz 4 years ago
hahah! Belkadi is not slow in anyway, he just felt like not playing fast.
