Just because we rank higher DOES NOT MEAN that we have an efficient system. And standardized testing means nothing. It doesn't calculate how well one knows history, the constitution, or their learning style. It barely registers writing ability. The aim isn't [shouldn't be] for scores, but for sheer knowledge, which the ACT can't calculate.

Moreover, many banks and corporations (Wells Fargo) were forced to accept a help, in spite of their belief that a government bailout would weaken the economy. What about the banks who hired mortgage brokers to refinance people who already owned homes? The naks hired the brokers to call existing homeowners with promises of improving their credit score. They offered them refi at a slightly higher fixed arm, say 8%, over their 6%, with a promise if they paid ontime they could refi at 6. Then the banks changed the rules.

Have you ever taken the ACT? I did two years ago and my eleven-year-old cousin could have gotten a 26 on it without having gone through college at all. Just because we rank higher DOES NOT MEAN that we have an efficient system. And standardized testing means nothing. It doesn't calculate how well one knows history, the constitution, or their learning style. It barely registers writing ability. The aim isn't [shouldn't be] for scores, but for sheer knowledge, which the ACT can't calculate.

There should be far more US history taught, as there is more European history than anything. But they need to teach practical classes that will help people in their daily lives. Knowing who fought the Opium Wars isn't going to help kids raise their credit scores!
They need to update what's taught. Finance, Economics, Accounting, web designing...all should be taught.

And I'm not denying that kids aren't taught history, nor that a lot of it is useless. That's why I think the history program needs to be *improved.* And if you can't figure out the use of history, then I might suggest you're not as intelligent as you believe. I won't suggest education serves no benefits. Education is the only way to succeed in any facet of life! The only point I want to raise is that in Communist Russia, SOVIET education/indoctrination was FUNDED BY THE STATE, schoolbooks were STATE CERTIFIED, and they had figure-head leaders tell all the children how important "education" was(Nazi Germany also). I haven't paid any attention to this man. I don't live in the USA. I liked him before he started campaigning. But all the things that popped up afterwards changed my mind. Like his church, his birth certificate, his friendships, his comment about religion and guns, his hand not over his heart, his stand on abortion etc. George Bush may have not been a genius (close), but at least we KNOW he is a USA citizen.
