lol..i agree with pierre766 this is also my fav as well and will probably be buried with it..i can only hope there is a heaven so i can finally see these guys in concert
Such a Great Album.......I remember when A&M records released this Album back in Nov, 1973..it was to be the bands "Breakthrough" LP....Classic songwriting and feel that you really don't hear too much material like this anymore....Strawbs were a very underated Act.....
"For when I have to fight to wake up in the morning/ I look to her for her open arms...Oh, Midnight Sun." The climax of an amazing, classic song by one of the greatest songwriters of the late 20th century. Saw them on almost every American tour for the past 5+ years (and a few times before that)--always as good as ever.
The mortgage paid for by Part of the Union will not be that of Dave Cousins, nor anyone on this record, as Hudson Ford, who penned that song, split and formed their own group not long afterwards, which caused this new version of Strawbs to be formed, and this LP to be recorded.
As a kid growing up in the seventies I have to say that The Strawbs were pretty much off the radar and for years I associated them with Part Of The Union and nothing else.
Now, through youtube, I realise they had so much more to offer. Songs such as this one are far better than Part Of The Union but I guess the latter song pays the mortgage.
Saw the Strawbs at BB Kings in Manhatten several times in the last several years. They are as good as ever. They did every song you would want to hear.
I have this album as well. An incredible album. One of my all time favorite bands. I saw them in Toronto a few times, during the seventies. Very good live. Thanks for posting this video. Keep them coming.
One of my top album of all time...trying to find the studio version of Out in the Cold also.

A very under rated band and CD. One of my and my late husbands all time favorites. I miss you, Pat.

Un moment musical vraiment appréciable: The Strawbs présentent un son traditionnel et progressiste et d'une finesse incroyable en même temps.
