Juan Encarnacion was a great player and a World Series champion! This injury was one of the worst, not only as a player, but as a person. I hope he is well, and happy and I will always remember ...
@Salmonbushes1 no he didn't you might have mixed him up with Kirby Puckett although he died from a heart attack not actually by getting hit in the face
I'm not trying to hate on this or anything...I mean I feel really bad for the guy, but I don't think many people want to see a crowd of people standing around an injured player.
he sucked anyway, the retard brother? wow thats REALLY mature, im glad baseball defines him as a human. the guy got smoked in the face by a baseball and not only ended his career but hurt him with everyday life abilities.hes a human JUST LIKE YOU.and at least he made it to the pros unlike you lazy pieces....
I confirm it was aaron Miles who i believe was playing second base this game.Miles felt really really bad after doing this. Im from stl and im a cardinals season ticket holder so yea i was there
yeah it busted his eye socket and ended his career and ruined his life pretty much. he still talks about how hes just trying to have a normal life again.
i was at this game on August 31, 2007.... i remember the stadium being DEAD quiet that u only hear cars outside the stadium on interstate.... really sad....
I beg to differ on your comment. There is no reason for me to lie about this. My sister worked at the front desk at Missouri Baptist and she entered him in. It's fact. I'm sorry that don't agree. They even had security there for him.
My sister admitted him to the hospital at Missouri Baptist. Pujols came and filled out his paper and was basically was his translator at the hospital. My sister had to tell Pujols to move his bentley so the Ambulance could pull in.
why would you want to see the footage of him getting hit? i was there, i was like ten rows away and it was really awful and no one should want to see the ball actually hit him.
I would like to see the 'hit' so my brain can have the memory in it and be more able to be aware of it so my brain protects me better.. don't you know the brain is a computer that puts a high priority on 'self-survival'?
I have a better question too.. Why would anybody put up footage of 'after a guy gets hit' by a ball? explain that? I mean if we go by the concept that it's not right to show the video then don't show any of it.
I was at that game, and saw it. It was scary. Miles fouled off a pitch before that almost hit a fan right there. The Cardinals moved the on deck circle back after that happened. It's really sad that his career is over.
yeah peeps. it was aaron miles who hit juan with a foul ball. I was at that game. Poor Juan has damaged vision he'll prolly never recover from. Miles is notorious for nearly hitting other players. i was at spring training 07 and he smashed a foul ball straight into the cardinals dugout and almost clobbered eckstein.
My sister was at this game. She said it looked bad. I feel bad not only for Encarnacion but for Miles. Can you imagine how that must feel to know that you've possibly ended someone's professional career? Does ANYBODY know if Encarnacion will ever come back to baseball? I wonder how his eye is doing.
Oh was it? Hahahah lol Im such an idiot. I always thouhgt it was Rolen, and I remember watching highlights on this and the guy said it was rolen, so it's not entirely my fault.
Juan Encarnacion was a great player. i hope he fully recovers soon regardless of whether or not he's ever going to play again but if he duz come back, then it will be the biggest inspirational comeback in major league history. no player deserves to go through that kind of pain.
He fractured his eye socket, and from reports on MSN had some major eye damage. I really liked Encarnacion because he seemed like a decent guy. Hopefully he makes it back in the league.

It is worse than David Wright's concussion. It hit him in the eye. Wright only went to the DL. This could be a career ending injury.
