  • I got a signed homerun baseball that season by him.

  • Juan Encarnacion was a great player and a World Series champion! This injury was one of the worst, not only as a player, but as a person. I hope he is well, and happy and I will always remember ...

  • @TheCam5501 It was juan encarnacion and this injury ended his baseball carrer

  • No it was Juan and it ended his career

  • Yo its pointless to make the video of the trainers helping him #8=============-

  • @Salmonbushes1 no he didn't you might have mixed him up with Kirby Puckett although he died from a heart attack not actually by getting hit in the face

  • I'm not trying to hate on this or anything...I mean I feel really bad for the guy, but I don't think many people want to see a crowd of people standing around an injured player.

  • he actually died shortly after this

  • @Salmonbushes1 You should get your facts straight...he's still alive today.

  • @Salmonbushes1 Too bad you didn't die shortly after posting this retarded (untrue) statement...

  • i was there. it was fucked up. He was such a good player, such a shame

  • Aaron miles must feel sorry

  • he sucked anyway, the retard brother? wow thats REALLY mature, im glad baseball defines him as a human. the guy got smoked in the face by a baseball and not only ended his career but hurt him with everyday life abilities.hes a human JUST LIKE YOU.and at least he made it to the pros unlike you lazy pieces....

  • He sucked anyway

  • Comment removed

  • thank god it was the shity brother of Edwin

  • @wfbhs2011

He's not his brother, retard. They're not related.

  • @wfbhs2011 first of all juan was better than edwin, second fuck you

  • juan used to be my fav. player for the reds.

    hope he'll play again

  • I saw the game the very next night, I've wondered what happened to him

  • I confirm it was aaron Miles who i believe was playing second base this game.Miles felt really really bad after doing this. Im from stl and im a cardinals season ticket holder so yea i was there

  • OUCH! Was It as bad as David Wrights concusion?

  • way worse hes now almost blind in the eye he was hit in and cant play

  • It is worse than David Wright's concussion. It hit him in the eye. Wright only went to the DL. This could be a career ending injury.

  • yeah it busted his eye socket and ended his career and ruined his life pretty much. he still talks about how hes just trying to have a normal life again.

  • that ended his carreer, didnt it?

  • i was at this game on August 31, 2007.... i remember the stadium being DEAD quiet that u only hear cars outside the stadium on interstate.... really sad....

  • Even as a Die hard Astros fan, (I hate the Card's), U never want to see something like this. horrible way to end a career.

  • I beg to differ on your comment. There is no reason for me to lie about this. My sister worked at the front desk at Missouri Baptist and she entered him in. It's fact. I'm sorry that don't agree. They even had security there for him.

  • My sister admitted him to the hospital at Missouri Baptist. Pujols came and filled out his paper and was basically was his translator at the hospital. My sister had to tell Pujols to move his bentley so the Ambulance could pull in.

  • Missouri Baptist is 20 minute to west of STL and there is major hopitals near the stadium so no way he went there

  • ended his career

  • I remember watching this live on television. A bit creepy.

  • Wow I always was wondering what happened to juan and dint know until they were talking about it in the Cubs game just now

  • wow great! Thanks for the footage of 'AFTER HE GOT HIT'

  • why would you want to see the footage of him getting hit? i was there, i was like ten rows away and it was really awful and no one should want to see the ball actually hit him.

  • I would like to see the 'hit' so my brain can have the memory in it and be more able to be aware of it so my brain protects me better.. don't you know the brain is a computer that puts a high priority on 'self-survival'?

  • I have a better question too.. Why would anybody put up footage of 'after a guy gets hit' by a ball? explain that? I mean if we go by the concept that it's not right to show the video then don't show any of it.

  • wat a bad way 2 get ur career destroyed. and just 2 let u know it was miles. MILES. t ball flew towards his eye and smashed it

  • I was at that game, and saw it. It was scary. Miles fouled off a pitch before that almost hit a fan right there. The Cardinals moved the on deck circle back after that happened. It's really sad that his career is over.

  • my dad sign encarnacion when he was a scout for the detroit tigers now hes a special assistant for the mets

  • tell your dad to do better scouting for the mets

  • hes not a scout dumb dumb hes a special assistant to the general manager he only scout major league games and players for trade purposes

  • still tell him to do a better job dumb dumb my mets suck big hairy balls because of people like your dad

  • it was miles

  • yeah peeps. it was aaron miles who hit juan with a foul ball. I was at that game. Poor Juan has damaged vision he'll prolly never recover from. Miles is notorious for nearly hitting other players. i was at spring training 07 and he smashed a foul ball straight into the cardinals dugout and almost clobbered eckstein.

  • naww, he isnt coming back, he filed for free agency in november, his career is likely over

  • It was kennedy I think. But I dosen't matter who hit it they probably really bad.

  • It was def. miles. not rolen not kennedy. MILES

  • @hammer473, i thought it was eckstein

  • My sister was at this game. She said it looked bad. I feel bad not only for Encarnacion but for Miles. Can you imagine how that must feel to know that you've possibly ended someone's professional career? Does ANYBODY know if Encarnacion will ever come back to baseball? I wonder how his eye is doing.

  • It depends, if he can recover then he might. But that could take years, and he might be well past his prime after that.

  • Aaron miles hit the ball. not rolen lol

  • Oh was it? Hahahah lol Im such an idiot. I always thouhgt it was Rolen, and I remember watching highlights on this and the guy said it was rolen, so it's not entirely my fault.

  • Gotta feel bad for Scott Rolen. I don't know how he'd take that he could've very well ended a guy's career.

  • The ball was hit by Miles

  • cant be rolen any1 he played for blue jays then anyway

  • No, Rolen was with the Cards when this happened. He got traded to the Jays after that season.

  • ya best trade ever and lecavalier is a fuckin beast

  • I know eh ;)

  • Could that have been prevented?

  • Juan Encarnacion was a great player. i hope he fully recovers soon regardless of whether or not he's ever going to play again but if he duz come back, then it will be the biggest inspirational comeback in major league history. no player deserves to go through that kind of pain.

  • man those are terrible seats

  • no it is he hit a double

  • You probably saw Edwin Encarnacion, Not Juan.

  • hes playin in 2008 i was just watchin the game he was batting

  • I don't know who you think you saw, but it wasn't Juan. He's still hurt. They don't know if he'll every be able to regain his sight.

  • my bad its edwin encarnacion i saw woops

  • idiot. lol

  • Yeah, he's still under contract with the Cardinals, and he's definitely not playing for them. It's basically been stated that his career is over.

  • Type in His name on a google search. And become....ENLIGHTENED!!!

  • your a fucking retard

  • @dCaStSkAtE that was probably edwin encarnacion

  • @ellixs12

no it was juan. it ended his career.

  • dang i wanna see a replay of this cuz i missed it. the cardinals are losin all their players. atleast we still got pujols.

  • He fractured his eye socket, and from reports on MSN had some major eye damage. I really liked Encarnacion because he seemed like a decent guy. Hopefully he makes it back in the league.

  • no he got it right in the eye..hes out for 2008 as well

  • The dude is most likely never going to play again...

  • Buen pelotero es mi paisano, lo lamento

  • yea i heard that too from espan today i hope his career is not over he was a good player

  • Today it was reported he might not ever play again and will miss the 2008 season, what a shame.

  • Jeez. My sister was at that game. I hope Juan's injury doesn't jeopardize his career.
