Can you add a picture of what your lawn looked like after you took the slide down? :-) I'd be curious to see the collection point for the pool at the bottom too.
@Haksing We only had it set up for two days. The lawn was fine, no harm done. The collection pool is already shown several times in the video. It is the first picture in the video (steps one & two). I was hoping the slide would end with the riders splashing into the pool. Unfortunately, the slope of the ground didn't cooperate and they never made it to the deeper water. I did dig a deeper hole in the corner of the pool for the pump suction hose.
@wingslike Well, we've set up the slide twice now and I've decided filling the tubes with air is just too hard!!...so we're gonna try filling the tubes with packing peanuts!...one 20 cu. ft. bag is $25 at Uline...still planning on linking a video of it here soon :)
Well it was harder than it looked but we made one and it was a blast!!!...I'll have to link some video once I figue out how to...inflating the tubes was the difficult part...we used zip ties and Gorilla tape and they still deflated a bit...I wonder if that stuff they put in helium balloons would help...don't know what it's called (??)...anyways, thanks again for the awsome idea...we're set for the summer!:)
hopefully we'll have enough water...maybe 2 hoses will work? I was wondering how long your slide is? I noticed Uline sells poly "sealers"...it would probly work better than tape but another $75 on top of the rest is probly too much...
this is such a great idea!..we're gonna try a modified version for the 4th..it'll probly be w/o a pool/pump...unless I can come up with an idea b4 then...but our hill is slightly steeper and level at the bottum...we have (2) 10'x20' plastic sheets and yesterday I picked up some 14" tubing at Uline...thank you for recommending them it turns out they have a local warehouse only 15 min away :) I still need to get some salt bags..thinking of using our firewood!..lol!!...
@ShaneGorrell Yes, I used duct tape. I folded the end several times and then used duct tape to hold it. It was easy to seal the first end. Sealing the second end, after blowing up the tube was difficult. I don't believe I ever got a perfect seal. I had to re-inflate the tube every three hours or so.
Wow, nice slide! You guys look like you're having a blast. The concrete blocks as weights is kinda scary to me, I'd probably lean more toward using sand bags, hay bales or spare tires, something heavy but a bit softer.
that is super awesome

I need some more details on the side tubing. I have a shop vac but I am not understanding out how you sealed the tubing? Duct tape?

How do you inflate the tubing?
Shadus 8 months ago
@Shadus I used a Shop Vac. We used one that allows you to connect the hose to the exhaust. I'd think a hair dryer (on cold setting) would also work.

@mckuletzz The pool slopes down the hill. At the bottom it is about 8 inches. I also dug a deeper hole in the corner for the pump suction hose.

good stuff. now, would "padding" the slide help with uncomfortable lil bumps? im sure lil pebbles on bones would hurt as only plastic to pad as seen?

one question........ where does all the water go?
dofaan 2 years ago 2
The water collects in the "pool" at the bottom of the slide. From there it is pumped back to the top.
