The new XBLA and iPhone versions of this song are nowhere near as good as this. The one thing I don't understand is why Sonic Boom stayed the same in both opening and ending whilst this and "Cosmic Eternity" were changed for some ringtone remixes. Was it because the people who sang them didn't want nay part in the re-releases?

Oh well, its still an amazing re-release but without this song just seems incomplete ;)

Copyright issues prevented them from using the original Japanese vocal tracks. It wasn't because Sega somehow thought the instrumental version sounded better. It was entirely because of legal issues.

Sega of America had Sonic 2.
