@iamlondon The Irgun were a group of Holocaust survivors who were so scared that another Holocaust would occur, they did everyhting they could to get the state of Israel created. (remember this is in 1947) The Igun's actions were condemned while, and after they were active, by the Hagganah, which later became the IDF. The Irgun disbanded as soon as Israel was created, and their leader was arrested. They had no other affiliations to Israel.

Prior to that, they were in league with the Lehi and Irgun under what was called "The Hebrew Resistance Movement". Neither did any of this murder prevent the Irgun's leader, Menachem Begin being elected Prime Minister! He was treated as a hero for killing Allied servicemen!
