TS12 has a good range of diesels , with only 3 steam locos and the Acela not being diesel. LOTS of others are on the DLS or on third-party sites. Most are free, and I don't have much of it as I hate diesels.
@ThePPPTrainAndCarFan You have to go full throttle when you are going slow then put it back in idle quick. They are simulating to much fuel being dumped into the engine which older models of ge are known for.
@ThePPPTrainAndCarFan Well......what do you expect? It's not going to go flaming down the track! It burns the access fuel off and then she runs right.
Only JointedRail does the flame thing with Payware on G.E units as there 4 stroke engines, EMD don't do that unless there's something wrong with the compression as there 2 stroke.
@captainkmanOFP857 Ah, I don't have TS12, I do know about the script that controls it, if you throttle up slowly it'll play the flame longer, the script is set to blow the flame out if you throttle up too fast, I don't have any G.E units though, only a guess from reading the JR script from the emd units.
Nothing, it's just an effect that happens when you go to notch 8 too fast! I think it's to simulate unburnt fuel burning as it goes out the exhaust. I'll look into it further.
Isn't that just cool when that happens? To bad the Dash-9's on the game don't do it like that one Machines of Iron video I have on Tennessee Pass.

how did you get fire
MrShasoft 1 month ago
@MrShasoft
There was no modifications. It just is built-in. I just quickly increase the throttle. It will not happen every time.

How good is the select of diesel locos in Trianz? I have TS 2012, but it has a poor selection of NA diesels.

@legomaster3320
It's Trainz Simulator. This is TS12, the other that I use and recommend is TS2010.
Not free, you have to pay $50 or so for it, but it's more than worth it.
Also, read the description.
captainkmanOFP857 4 months ago
@captainkmanOFP857 Its not worth it for me since I can't open content :( If I open it, then I'll be happy.

@trainz675
Unzip it with WinZip, Zip Genius etc, then install the CDP files into Trainz. If that's what's inside it.
captainkmanOFP857 2 months ago
I was using the Same ATSF Dash 7 from JR as you. I looked in it and it s programmed for the fire script, just I can't get it to work.
Mrmodeltrainz 6 months ago
@Mrmodeltrainz
Did you throttle up to 8 from a standstill?
This is a very rare occurance, and I was lucky just to get it to happen, let alone get it on video the first time I shot!
captainkmanOFP857 6 months ago
@captainkmanOFP857 Yeah, maybe it just didn't respond to me for some reason.
Mrmodeltrainz 6 months ago
Dang, I was trying to get that to happen for nearly a half an hour and I got nothing!

What loco were you using? The loco you're using might not have the effect.

@azervich
When I throttle up slowly, the flame doesn't play at all! It's only when you go straight to notch 8 from notch 0.
captainkmanOFP857 6 months ago
