  • Because I don't really know who they are. This was given to me on a CD without any reference to the performers. Sorry, I don't like that either.

  • Thank you! I was wondering if it would "work" with people who don't know from the book that the young guy who dies in the text has just been playing this very quartet with the captain (violin), the ship's surgeon (cello) and purser (viola). To me this is one of the most moving passages in all of the 20 novels.
