i dont know what everybody is complaining about- he says he says its `basic` and `to get you started`- plus its only just over a minute long- its not as if he rambled on for hours and was a complete waste- its a nice little lesson for a beginner.
I've got a buddy who's a silicon valley tech/nerd. He said this was a joke. This guy is a prankster. I'll bet he knew he was joking but the staff at expert village fell for it. Reminds me of when I took two yearbook pictures one real and one with my 'porn alias' my senior year. This guy's a genius!
Hey expertvillage get the fuckin words out of the way so I can see the dudes hands on the keys. It's bad enough that google puts there ad in the way and you have to keep clicking X to get rid of it but, do you need to put the words right where the piano players hands are. Dummies!!!!
if you dont know what the pentatonic scale is than stop trying, this is the scale that has been raped billions of times over in every manner and aspect
..they need to add basic in the title of this video..that way people don't leave comments about how underwhelming the tutorial was..
..that being said..even elementary jazz pianists with a few lessons under their belt will find this too easy and too brief....they should ban instrument tutorials that are under 3 minutes..
Lol I cant understand all the hatings, maybe because i play the piano for like 2 years, but never tried the blue or jazz style, so this is kinda new to me and i think its pretty good. u_u
err these comments are right, hes making it up, seriously hes not a jazz pianist hes a break dancer
"Expert: Austin McBride
Bio: Austin McBride has been doing Break Dancing for 4 years, featuring himself in about 6 clubs. He says break dancing is great for exercise and to impress friends."
This "chord progression" is really a very common riff on a minor chord in jazz. I think they call it a "line cliche" but I'm not sure. Either way, this really isn't teaching anything important in jazz. He should talk about 2-5-1 or the circle of fifths or 12-bar blues or SOMETHING.
drop/rise a minor, really? this guy hasn't apparently listened to some real jazz, like monty alexander. his chord progressions are sophisticated, and don't sound like a 5 year old's ear-transposition of a cheap infomercial james bond theme knockoff.
Those aren't drop "voicings". This "expert" is throwing around words he hasn't any clue the meaning of. I wonder if he's even ever heard Charlie Parker.
good lesson austin... this video is a good prequel to my jazz improvisation series. I highly recommend everyone watch my new improvisation series after watching this. let me know what you think.
I didn't see the humour in Monty Python at first. Its an acquired taste. So is this. This guy is hilarious.
