Young muslims are starting to learn not from the Imams but through discussion on the internet. Discussion with Imams usually comes within the framework that Islam is infallible and so the discourse is very limited. If muslims read the hadiths, they will for sure ask many questions because the narratives just reeks of foolish things and contrivances to advance a political actions.

Young muslims are starting to learn not from the Imams but through discussion on the internet. Discussion with Imams usually comes within the framework that Islam is infallible and so the discourse is very limited. If muslims read the hadiths, they will for sure ask many questions because the narratives just reeks of foolish things and contrivances to advance a political actions.

This is exactly the reason why in secular governments, religion and the state is separate. Use of religion for political purposes reeks of dishonesty and corruption. The point is this: Shites and sunnis will always be in conflict in Pakistan, Iraq, Saudi and Bahrain because of persecutions based on religious reasons. I have not counted..child molestation is punishable by jail term in secular governments. They are marked for life as child molesters and must register in every city they live after they get out of jail. The victims were compensated, even for those cases that happened a long time ago. The payment was only to ease the pain of the abuse, not to absolve the sex offender.

Even a cursory glance at history shows it's an unfair characterization. People married very young in that era, it was a common practice all throughout the world at that time. Modern medicine wasn't available and people died from common diseases like flu and fever, and the average life expectancy were very low. Many people died in their 30's and 40's. This was common in the west too, in that era.

History will prove to be on Irshad Manji's side. She is right of the spot. I fully recognize that Muslims have a superiority complex ie: if you are a Muslim you are saved not because of any inherent goodness but as a birth right. You can be a billion dollar murderer, torturer, and thief but if you say you are a Muslim then wow you are alright. May God bless you and protect you Irshad.

@paddy6062 Muslims believe that Koran is the word of God and cannot be questioned. This is the reason why some muslims want to implement sharia law because it lends to dictatorial system of government. Citizens cannot question the laws because they are the word of God. Notice that almost all islamic states are monarchies or dictatorial regimes. Even those that are secular like Turkey and Tunisia is under threat of being Islamized.

1. Syria killed and destroyed Muslim Brotherhood but Syria supports them in Lebanon.
2. Saudi publicly condemns Saudi terrorists but give funds to Taliban and Al-Qaeda in Pakistan.
3. Imams say Islam is religion of peace but encourage suicide bombings.
4. Women are honored but Quran allows beating of wives.
5. Quran says no to gambling and alcohol. Mos islamic states have casinos.
