Until we Yemeni's can get rid of that nasty tribalism mentality, we will have the same troubles over&over again. The world knows this about us. So, they go to the strongest tribes and pay them to keep the nation controlled. This phenomena is contagious. Its crippling to progress and equality. Freedom&equality FOR ALL Yemenis NOW. Not just let a few more tribes in on the business&profits. And then its all OK.
@satv365 oh yes, I feel so completely proud to be a part of the "american cultural icons" by having my sacred tools, dances & imagery sold & comically made fun of by so many of those "proud americans" who have no idea what my culture or other indigenous cultures use them for b/c of the fact that "Native Indigenous" history is NOT being accurately told in schools. Come on man, have some heart for those of us that are actually trying to keep our traditions.
@satv365 Your point is comical, because FSU's iconic mascot and pageantry is completely made-up. The Seminoles didn't have a war-cry, didn't paint their faces, didn't use tomahawks or spears, and didn't ride horses. But since the "tribe" receives approval to operate gambling casinos on its reservations from the state legislature, of course it was going to go along. Becoming rich capitalists has never equated to self respect.
@satv365 And which native language would that be....Seminole? Since they are not really a tribe but an amalgamation of runaways, they either speak English or some speak in the language of the Creek or the Miccosukee. These languages are similar--kind of like English and German. And by the way...how many Irish have you inducted into the German-American Society?
@satv365 Exactly--the Seminoles did not exist when Europeans colonized the United States. So they aren't a Native American tribe--perhaps "an Afro-Indian tribe" since they coalesced in the mid-1700's when refugees from other tribes came together in the Florida wilderness with runaway slaves from the lower South. But unlike "tribes", they don't share a common language--other than English--or genome. Their name indicates their bond--they are runaways.

@satv365 No, not at all....I'm just pointing out the obvious.

@satv365 As long as you realize that they aren't really a tribe--point made.

@satv365 There really is no Seminole "tribe"--before the 1700's they were called Creeks, Miccosukees, Hitchitis, and Oconees.
