  • I am doing something very similar. I'm using a shp file with Assessors Parcels Numbers joined to a spread sheet with Assessors Parcels Numbers. I'm trying to get ArcView to draw the Parcels that are listed in the spread sheet. Under properties for the shp file I go to query and tell query to drawn shp APN that equals APN from spread sheet. this works but doesn't draw parcels for fields with more the one APN in a single field. How do I get it to draw in multiple APN's in one field.

  • 9.2 isn't too much different from 9.3 or 10.0 in many ways apparently

  • Hey I am trying to join to tables from 2 different layers. But this 2 tables do not have any identical field. One layer is polygon and another layer is points, and both of them have some information that I need to put in one table. If I chose to join them and field FID be the common then information is not reliable. The final table has it all but the information is not consistent. How do I join these 2 tables and information relates to one another ???

    Thanks.

  • @belotinac I don't think you can join a Point shapefile with a Polygon shapefile. I would probably try to create a new table in Excel that has all the data you need and then join that table (with a common useful column) to either the point or poly file. (gisatvassar)

  • hey, one question. I have kml file created in google earth and I need to export that file in arcmap(9.3.1.) When I use KMLer I lose some information after putting it into arcmap. Is there any way to export kml file into xml file without loosing any information?

    Thanks

  • @belotinac - You need to_ import_ the KML into ArcMap. Use XTools Pro which works great or use KML2Shp but I haven't tried it or try KML2KML which I have tried but not for this function. XTools Pro is the best utility but it is not free, unfortunately. Good luck!

  • @GISatVassar thank you I will try.
