These guys were stirctly an offensive strike force of Shock troops. Did you ever hear of these guys defending a fort or fighting behind a barracade? I think not. They're Up there with the Iron Brigade as the most dangerous weapons in the AOP.
Every nation is proud of their heros. You have fighting 69th, we have our cavalry, which beaten 14000 Swedes in battle of Kirholm (we were outnumbered 3 to 1), took the Somosierra Pass (400 cavalrymen againt 3000 spanish infantry) or brave defenders of Westerplatte and Wizna. And in the American Civil War we had Polish Legion - 58th New York Infantry :)
The video represents a conflict that did happen, as well as conflicts before that , but the meaning of the song is also about the conflicts in your own life and having to be strong and stead fast, if you did not get at least that out of it you just wasted 2 minutes of your time and 5 seconds of us reading your comment.
I've not found that to be entirely true. This really only applies to Johnny I Hardly Knew Ya and Green Fields of France. The rest are really neither pro- nor anti-war.
Well unless there are some DKM songs that am not aware of the only anti-war songs they have are aimed at the British Crown for pushing Irish and Scottish boys into service and sending them to die in foreign lands.

They're not pro or anti war really, its music that either celebrates ones sacrifice for war, or for godforsaken principalities of war.
