  • This is Bryn at his best

  • I want his babies......

All seriousness though this guy is my Hero :D

  • One of my favorite bass arias.

  • Anybody have clips of Terfel (audio or video) singing the bass arias from "Messiah?" Would love to hear 'em:) --

  • Bryn is fantastic! A star in every sense.

  • Please change the description. Judas Maccabeus isn't an opera, it's an oratorio!

  • Done - thaank you.

  • Wow. what a sound!

  • correction of the video description, its an oratorio and not an opera

  • Done - thank you.

  • @jeanpcollins No, Thank YOU for changing it! :-D

    Cheers,

    Tobias

  • Bryn is the man.

  • Che bellissimo!! Bravo Bryn, bravo!!

  • Bryn Terfel...love this man!

  • Great performance, but is that a REVIVAL HARPSICHORD I see? It looks like a John Challis or simiar--at Glyndebourne in 1999? FOR SHAME! I see at least six pedals too. That should have been done away with in the 60s for heaven's sake!

  • Superb. Excellent interpretation!

  • Amazing!

  • I like this live performance more than the recording of Handel's baritone arias. It captures the composer's noble and heroic grandeur.

  • Can you enable embedding so we can download this vid?

  • I don't get it. I can hear the notes just fine. It's like reading between the lines when reading, if everyone knows what I mean. I too am a bass-baritone, and it's true that lower voices have more overtones, although I've heard some high voices with just as many overtones as Bryn's. Stop worrying about that and enjoy the music.

  • Demambdes! hehe...

  • lol. He messes up the words. And his face gets funny when he realizes it. But he is amazing. Who needs words when you sound like that.

  • No he doesn't.

  • your right. i posted that when i first got the sheet music. which as you can see was 7 months ago lol. there are about 5 different versions of the lyrics, they all change the order of "a noble cause, the cause of heaven, your zeal demands". The version I first checked out had all these different orders of the lyrics. I looked up the original in UCLA's music library and that's the version Bryn is performing. :-)

  • What an uplifting ending!

  • The Almighty Jehovah will strengthen your hand!

  • I'm an atheist with wrist tendonitis.

  • lol! class!

  • I have to sing this tomorrow for all-state auditions. gonna be fun.

  • Good luck to all of you who are going to be singing this - I hope the video helps.

  • "As you can hear Bryn is not actually singing the notes..." Riiiiiight! I guess because he doesn't make your boy-soprano sound, you can't relate. Maybe you should listen to a countertenor sing this........

  • You're a fool.

  • He has lots of overtones in his real man's voice...that's what you hear, and that's why you have more trouble hearing the fundamental notes the same way you can hear them on the piano.

  • ha! wow... just wow...

  • lol

  • it really helps. thank you!

  • this is a beautiful song..i used 2 sing it but i lost my voice :(

  • I have to perform it on friday, aka 5 days from now, for district Solo/Small Ensamble contests...I'm freaking terrified!

  • Remember, no-one is expecting you to sing like Bryn - at least not yet! Part of Bryn's magic, I think, is his ability to make you believe whatever he is singing. So maybe you can get into the part - by imagining you are singing to the troops going off to war.

  • I am performing "Arm, Arm..." is less than a month. I so excited because it's such a powerful song.

  • absolutely amazing
