  • This song is awesome live. so much craic had...

  • Brilliant!

  • Perfect! The only thing that could have made it better would be a tin whistle, but who cares...

  • I love being irish american my ancestors came from Galway :)

  • @xxleandraxx1 Best county in Ireland

  • They all look like they are having a darn good time :)

  • Sharon Shannon is Super Goat

  • Sharon Shannon is super hot

  • Dolans thats Limerick City!!! serious spot

  • umm, what does the book say about how many times you play a song over and over ......... ;D x

  • how hot is this boy ;) my all time favourite song x

  • much better than steve earle

  • Sorry, NOWHERE NEAR as good as the Original by Steve Earle. These guys (even with Sharon Shannon) just sound like a bog standard pub band playing at an Irish theme pub. That's my opinion and if you don't like it ''pog mo thoin!!'' (sorry i have no idea how to spell Gaelic or pronounce it , so in plain english '' Kiss My Arse''.

  • one of the greatest songs, reminds me of my year in ireland. would love for australian radio to play this

  • Forget xfactor and all the rest of the utter rubbish that is inflicted on our ears!

I swear to God that this the greatest gig I have ever seen. pure enjoyment!

  • I love Ireland Irish music jameson with coke and chicken roll......Poles will always support you

  • I know this is Irish music, but that accordion gives it some Cajun stank. Music is the great u niter-- Whooo buddy!!!

  • @guyfihi

It is Steve Earle's song, and this is the same arrangement, so a little southern American flavor is to be expected.

  • @guyfihi Especially considering "Cajun" is short for "Acadian", which refers to the Gaelic (Gauls) French people who brought their accordions and settled in Louisiana in the 1700s. Music comes full circle. Steve Earl's ancestors probably came from Ireland a few generations back too.

  • @ben909ben

Mostly true - but the accordion is not that old (invented in early 19 century). I have read that it was probably first brought into the Americas by German settlers... Cajuns and Mexican Mariachi bands took it up from there. Steve does have some familial Irish roots.

  • I Love this song Its My Number 1 Favourite Ever :D

  • what a venue, what a song, what a performance and what great TALENT

  • best ever.dankeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

  • Take me there.

  • Thank you. It looks like a fun place to visit for anyone in the area, Slainte.

  • Once up, you climb to the top of the power, we know that power corrupts to everyone in the world.

The only thing important in the Atlantic world of ours is the joy of music.

  • kpetals thank you for Dolans. I live in England now. But I was in Limerick once about 40 years ago. It looked very dull and damp. Dolans is something else. It sounds fantastic. I found this by accident on Tuesday night trying to follow the asteroid on Google News. This is much better. It cheers me up great. Sharon Shannon seems very happy at what she's doing. Do you have a year for this and is it still going? The Internet is great. Thanks very much. I shall explore further. Cheers..

  • @dtr748 hi there : ) i don't know much about it i just recognize that it's in dolans, this video was uploaded july 13th 2008 suggesting it may have been recorded around then , take care :)

  • top five favorite songs.

  • best ever. i can cry,.............

  • Can I say thank you to kpetals for his reply. Does he happen to know what year it was recorded. I like the idea of including the words of the song. Is this a new idea of You Tube or is it someone elses? This is all new to me. I started out chasing asteroids. Don't know how I found this but I'm glad I did. Many thanks.

  • Is this by any chance coming from Salthill?

  • @dtr748 it's Dolans in limerick

  • try corrs you lot, how many have been to ireland? you should have gone as a brummie during the troubles as i did!

  • I Love This Song I always Sing or Play it on my Guitar :) A true Irish Song :)

  • When you do a cover song, dont you want to do it a little different than the original? why do it the same way?

  • @MrSavage4prez

I agree that Steve's is better and with the general point that a good cover should take a song in a creative, new direction... but to be fair to Shannon and the band, Steve recorded it with them and she worked on the arrangement. So in that sense, they are playing the original, with different vocals.

  • Some of you guys are comparing apples and oranges. I play the Sharon and friends album all the time and this track is superb. But this is live, look at the fun, this would have been a great place to be while this was being played, an event, superb. Love the lop sided action she has with the squeeze box.

  • best version

  • need dessie donnelly on the fiddle in there sharon

  • Very funny a great

  • those two are so shagging eachother EHEH

  • Great song! We saw this song performed yesterday at the Irish American Club in Malden, Massachusetts. There was a road race with plenty of cold draft beer, and an Irish music band after the race.

  • Reminds me of Tenerife!

  • @shackanory Thats true! Dont know why your comment got so many down votes :s P.S I love you<..

  • @rolyboy01a Aha how many did it get? It wont show me. Just says 'this comment received too many negative votes' ;)

  • @shackanory Dosent say.. But Mundy and Sharon Shannon made an awesome live "galway girl" its better than the original tbh..

  • What fun....!!!

  • I would take the gum out of my mouth and get tested for AIDS

  • I have to respectfully disagree with MrSavage4prez on Steve Earle's version. It is great....of course...Steve Earle is an incredible musician....but I prefer this version. I think that the tempo has something to do with it.

  • @bobcon95

Respect? This is youtube. Aren't you supposed to call people names and use foul language? :)

Seriously, nice to see some polite disagreement.

  • great!

  • Hey sharon you still owe me 4.70 for the taxi

Check out Ciara Someon like you.wmv on

    youtube

  • lol anyone else noticed that there are nothing but a bunch of blondes on stage.....when he's singing about a girl with black hair and blue eyes?

  • niceone, great song, cheers Dave The Makem Folk Singer

  • Copy and paste this video link to they YT search bar

    watch?v=8OQJ4UrAVJw

this place is a bit of a time warp, static displays, the way it once was. The dummies used to be motor driven but after the 1970s they were deactivated. Seems someone has been 'painting England green' the way the Irish claim, every engine, every welder, every figurehead is daubed green no matter what color it was at first. But the interesting thing here is the big budget given this place, a bit like Red Bay in Canada!

  • steve earle is much better on a lot of songs - just not this one!

  • love that song

  • what a great melody,a mix of irish and cajun me thinks???

and i never wrote this, holy shit?????

  • proper music

  • Can't listen to this without tapping your foot, can you? Mundy and Steve Earles' versions are both good, people. Just enjoy. A group called Driftwood also does a good version, with a female black singer. Check it out.

  • steve earles version is ok but mundy owns this tune.

  • @raverover

Actually Steve owns it... check the copyright. Which sounds better is a matter of taste.

  • @nilradem steve might own it but mundy owns it.

  • @raverover

Your opinion, mate, that was my point.

  • kocham ta piosenke i Irlandie!

  • i once met an old fella in dolans;playing an accordion and said he was sharon shannons dad.ijust wonder if it was true ....limerick

  • I had to watch it a second time because I thought he was chewing gum while singing... He totally was

  • I loved being at Dolans. Amazing place. Beautiful people. I will be going back in a year or so.

  • I really dont get why im so fascinated by ireland. Simply amazing country and people.

  • amazing song, I'm an Irish guy but i've blue eyes and I'm from Galway.I'm proud to be Irish.

  • Fantastic song, what a great bit of fun

  • The blonde in the pink top ain't no slouch either.

  • The blond in the pick blouse and white short is very HOT!!!

  • Red Head gal at 0:39 is gorgeous!

  • Aint nutn lyk a Rebel girl im teln ye!

  • Aint nutn lyk a Rebel girl im teln ye!

  • Strictly speaking, I prefer Earle's original, too. It's the joy shared by everyone in the building that makes this performance special. Gives me goosebumps every time I watch it.

  • steve earle's much better than this

  • @MrSavage4prez

I wonder if they knew they were competing against Steve Earle when they played this

  • @whitehh15

I think when you do a cover you have to expect comparisons. No reason you can't appreciate both, but I understand the desire to give credit to the writer and original singer, especially when the cover is better know. A lot of people gave Mr.S a thumbs up, so seems like there are others who agree,

  • @darlincommitme

I should add though, that this is only partially a cover, as Earle's original was with Shannon.

  • i had a stroke on the old boardwalk one day-i-a-i-a and the ambulance came and took me away to u c h g, and i had to ask, the fella in charge, am i dying or what;s the craic, and he said to me, no need for the shock, you'l be drunk tonight for six o clock, la la la

  • @BrickhouseB2 I prefer this one tbh, not the singing as such, though I cant really fault it, just the instruments and music, its a lot more lively than Earle's.

  • The likes win!

  • Me encanta, como toca sharon exelente musica.. esta es de mis favoritas

  • Perfect video, I'm since thursday watching it once and again xDD Everynight while I'm in a chat, I take a Guinness, I put this video and it seems like being in Ireland

In October/November 2008 we went to Ireland for a holiday (My first time) I was hoping to catch some Irish traditional music or Pub music but everywhere we went someone played the day before or were playing the day/night we weren't there...Must go back soon.

  • Doesn't Sharon Shannon just seem like the nicest, happiest person ever? Her smile is so genuine.

  • @yunal35Ca I agree hopes she comes to the U.S.A. sometime

  • All Irish women are like that if they're treated half-decently ! I love 'em all !

  • @yunal35Ca has she got MS is that why she sits down all the time - there's too many people on the stage health and safety would go mad at that ...
