  • This is not true. Those boots would NOT do! Wear something that is casual, yet professional. Wear something that represents YOU. If I was casting a show and she came in with those boots on, I would not cast her. You don't want someone coming out of the stage door who dresses like that!

  • @rosiewebber94 you weren't paying attention, when you audition for something specific, you should represent that "look" and she was talking about being punk or even goth, those boots would work.. it's not a costume, but still gives the "look" they are going for and it helps land roles... it's a basic audition technique and is used in hollywood as well for landing roles..

  • High heels? But that's really bad when your singing, it removes a lot of the natural support that standing comfortably gives to the stronger and higher notes... :/ Trust me, I've tried.. ^^

  • Dance audition??

  • What if you don't know what the musicals about

  • @JAMbannana look it up if it's a revival or based off anything and if it's new they will have a little thing about it in the audition notice

  • I dont know I disagree with this...I believe that you should always dress business-professional with on a touch of the genre of the show.

  • im auditioning for for hairspray, im 16, and its for 15-20 year olds! I want to be tracy, I look the part, im really skilled at dancing and singing, and i NEED to get the part! THey want us to sing a song thats not hairspray, im a sopranoe ( but my notes are belty, not light) and so what song should i sing?/ and what outfit? * this is my dream, and im soo close :) if u could respond it would be amazinggggg :) *i uploaded singing vids to my channel

  • @BeckyWrightMusic defying gravity has a lot of belty notes........and for tracy i would wear a knee length skirt and a short sleeved (nice) button up shirt or polo

  • My two cents are as follows: Don't tell them how nervous you are. It isn't cute or professional and they won't respond as well as they will to someone who looks totally at home on stage. Act your way through an audition if you have to.

  • 1- NEVER anything that hits you above the knee unless you are looking to play a young character or a trampy one...

2- NEVER wear bold patters. you want them to see YOU not your "favorite dress"

3-if you where denim it better be a nice pair of fitted TROUSER pants not " jeans"

4-GIRLS WEAR HEELS. NEVER WHERE YOUR CHARACTER SHOES to a voice or acting audition. they want to see your legs, your walk, and how you carry yourself.

5- do dress for your intended role but don't show up in a costume

  • very good!!! u know what you are talking about haha

  • @LadyBellaMorta are u retarded? what's with the "where"??? it's "wear" you idiot

  • @JulieKroko That's a little mean. She made a mistake.. so what? She took her time to comment on youtube and give us theater lovers, a little help.

  • @JulieKroko WHATS WITH THE "U?" IT'S "YOU" NOT "U!"

  • @IntellegentBallerine yeah so what? Who cares?

  • @JulieKroko Well, apperently YOU!

  • Weirdo

  • @abcdancergirl2224 She has a pretty big fan base actually. We're lucky to be getting free advice from her.

  • @Akuchan7 excatly! she has good advice ,at least she gives you an idea of what to do and to expect rather than leave you in the dark like others would.

  • @hottieho13 I'm glad you agree. I just went through the college MT audition process over the winter and her advice about going to the accompianst first really helped me. I had assumed I would talk to the auditioners first. But I really believe that looking comfortable communicating with the accompianist got me into my first choice school! Thanks Athena!

  • She is ridiculous. A woman should not wear that denim sskirt to an audition nothing about that skirt looks professional.

  • Are you deaf? She said she would wear the skirt if she were auditioning for a punk rock musical.

  • I think Athena's ideas are totally valid. It's not like she's saying to wear a costume to the audition. She's just saying to suggest the character a little so the auditors can have an easier time picturing you in the role. You want to have as much going for you as possible. Not to say you should wear a corset & carry a parasol or have piercings all over for an audition, but to pick subtle pieces of clothing that might suggest the time period a little better than black cocktail dress...

  • @LaLunaDellaNotte if your auditioning for morticia in the addams family you shouldnt dress like Elle Woods from legally blonde.

  • most directors say don't dress the part

  • of course! dress as yourself. But if you are auditioning for rent - go punk. If you are auditioning for Carousel, go pretty. There are different parts of yourself that you can show. This is Athena Reich - the girl in the video. Thanks for the love :) Subscribe to my channel. Google me and get in touch!

  • Good tips, but nothing I would wear for an audition. I think the best probably is to dress as yourself and not as the part you audition for.

  • hmm interesting but a little toooo much for the punk outfit..
