I absolutely agree. I hate to watch English movies on German tv, the German translation sucks. First of all most voices used are shitty and so many great movie moments or jokes are lost. Whenever i can i watch it with the original audio. As you can see, the translation of a simple Coke ad sucks already. ;-)

it's called synchronisation and it doesn't suck. there are plenty of good movies and much more people which do not understand english, chinese etc.

don't get me wrong, i prefer watching movies in the original language although my motherlanguage is german but there are even for me a few moments when i can't understand the full audio (because of articulation, slang, dialect or else) so consider this.

finally: the sync isn't that bad, it's actually very good. almost always every foreign movie star has his own "german" voice. next time try to listen to de niro's german voice or pacino's.

BUT there are a lot of sync's which are just bad (it's a budget thing - like low budget movies) and even good movies can be ruined by doing a bad sync.

i know it´s called synchronisation, but i actually meant the TRANSLATION as i mentionend many movies are ruined because the translation was faulty. many jokes or sayings you cant translate because they only make sense in the original language, given. and i also agree with you that not everyone speaks english. still, so many times i got pissed because the german translation changes whole lines and therefore destroys the original meaning of a scene, watch "Band of Brothers".

you are right about De Niro´s sync voice, thats an exception (still like the real voice better). i dont know Pacino´s sync voice, never really cared for his movies. but listen to Hanks, Gibson, Cage, Costner and especially Samuel L Jackson and tell me again the german sync voices are good. and many stars have more than 1 sync voice during their career. but what really gets me is why would they change the title of the movie, since its english, into another ENGLISH line!?!? whats the point?
