I posted this on facebook the day when former president Vaclav Havel died. It was the first piece of music I heard on the radio after hearing the news that day. Just for those who know who I'm talking about... Anyway, I don't care about the movie, but this music sure is beautiful.
Once upon a bore in the West. Dull, plodding, hammery. If you take the worst of The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly and square it, you begin to reach the epic level of bloated boredom that is this movie.
@ReturnOfJackDawson Awwww thank you. Is it one of those amazing pieces of musiic that just touches your heart like that too? Don't you feel sad either :)
@ReturnOfJackDawson Awwwww I don't feel sad anymore :) He really is. Captures emotions and drag you into the motion picture. Somone else who does that (in my opinion) is Steve Jablonsky. They are both wonderful and each bring somthing different to the World.
Oh I like that music in the link you suggested. Very pleasant to hear!!!!!! Thank you
Oh what a tune, hits the spot every time, just love it,so moving so in touch into my feelings, theirs just something about it i find so meaningful, just so right. It has such a strong emotion attached to it.This song is truly made for this classic Weston film.So good so great love it.
Ennio Morricone is a master, he lkows how to make you sile and cry, he capures each emotion at once and creates a melody which moves you so deep down that you barely know it. More movies should have music like that, music that not only goes along woth the screenplay bit IS the screenplay as well. Amazing.
It always reminds me of soldiers leaving for battle and saying goodbye to there families like it sounds like it could be I a ww2 movie what u people think
James Horner? John Williams? They can't even hold par with Morrcone... He's easily the best living and perhaps the best of all time film music computer EVER.
@Trinidadian125 I think John Williams easily holds par. I respect Morricone too, but denying the genius of Williams is naive. 45 Academy Award nominations and won 5 of them. I'd say thats pretty good.
They are playing this in the dutch theme park : Attractiepark Slagharen and lots of other ennio morricone songs. That themepark is in cowboywestern style i'ts just awesome when i walk trough the mainstreet and i hear ennio morricone <3 It makes me feel like i'm a cowboy (:
It is no longer politically correct to play cowboys and indians, unless of course, the cowboys are finding their feminine side, the cowgirls are tough wagon masters and the indians are successful casino operators...
I fell in love with this song and film when Cheyenne, in the beginning of the movie, was talking about how she reminded him of his mother. "My mother was the biggest whore in town, but the greatest woman who ever lived." The two don't always have to be mutually exclusive. ;)
big big tune. Brings a tear to my eye every time. There is something so transcendent about it. If you listen to it loud with your eyes closed it's like being taken out of yourself. Makes an already amazing film the very best.
This was a great movie about how the wild west was coming to a close and the new modern age takes over...the train is coming while workers sweat their life away while two old time cowboy gunslingers still have their fight behind the outpost and no one seems to care....great music and movie...
I saw this movie many years ago when I was just 12. It's a fantastic film, probably the best I have ever seen. It made a lasting impression on me. The theme music is beautiful and quite sad. I have the DVD.
In many ways, the film is part of a valuable social history of the West. It represents a time when America was changing fast into a modern industrial nation.

There's some serious sub-bass rumble going on in this track, especially the beginning through 0:40

@pmat94 it would work quite well. Good point. Mainly because it's "mood" music, ,that is, evoking a certain emotion--sort of gentle melancholy.
