  • @rcnightmare Can I use a friends iPhone to unlock the car, then not use it? Will it still be unlocked without the iPhone?

  • have u crash it

  • So, we do all the necessary hardware things to make it go one hundred, and it will without an iPod? That sounds logical.

  • remember u gear up u create mor drwa and more heat on the motor shure u can do 100 but if i dropped1200 on a rc ohh hell no lol

  • @biggdaddy2001 lol we hear ya. This is why we won't just "go for it" until conditions are right. Traxxas thoroughly explains that the 34t pinion is for one quick speed run and nothing else. I gotta tell ya though, when you own a car that does 100mph, you wanna do it...

  • @rcnightmare hell yeah id have a definat lead trigger finger with this car if i had a chance to drive it

  • This car costs friggin 1700 USD in norway.

  • Is that a Hakko 936 in the background?

  • @NayburhoodSnipa You know it

  • Wow, that drivetrain sounds soooo smooth.

  • can u get this attachment if you have a revo 3.3 or is it just for that controller? i would like to see how fast my car goes

  • @Nickthetick144 yes you can trade up for the TQi system with idock and add the optional spur gears for RPM among other telemetry sensors.

  • I feel the need to address this obsession with GPS. The built in telemetry on the XO-1 is as accurate as the speedo on your (real) car as long as parameters are set correctly in the traxxas link app. A GPS is only accurate when the unit is maintaining a constant speed and direction for a given time and only when there is full recepetion with multiple satellites. An R/C is RARELY able to hold a constant speed for any amount of time forcing the GPS to do a fair amount of guessing.

  • I see one major flaw with this..... The car is upside down, not carrying its own weight, no wind resistance... Thus making this a fail. Mount a GPS to your locked XO-1. What is its actual speed. Bet it will be closer to 50mph.

  • @Traxxas506 it doesn't matter that its upside down...the technology, the way it measures speed, it wouldn't matter if it was in space..

  • @rcnightmare I see what your saying, the software should be locking it at 50mph, like a governor in a car.

  • @Traxxas506 Exactly. And I hope people read this so we can stop beating a dead horse in the comments.

  • @rcnightmare but isnt there wind resistance i agree with traxxas506 show the real run

  • @roberdude12345 Arg! Read the comments. The technology only measures wheel speed. It doesn't care if the car is in space! The speed limiter should be kicking in when the screen reads 50mph, it doesn't. That's all were showing here.

  • yo if you change the controller and receiver can you still do 100mph or do u need this controller?

  • @mumforddale1 The ESC has a "lock" built into it that does not allow it to be used with another radio system. If you unlock the car for 100mph the ESC is also unlocked and will work with other radios.

  • You would have to put some wider foams on the 4-tec though. I was never able to do wide open throttle off the line on mine but once I put foams on it was a whole new car. It sounds crazy but wouldn't you agree even the 4-tec was a milestone for rc nitro? 70 mph is not that car off from 100.

  • I'm sure they can't run it until its warm out. I live near you guys in Chicago so we all know this isn't on road rc weather. Can you run the 4-tec against the x-01? That would be a great video

  • @TheVegasMD Might be a fun drag. Yeah It was real mild yesturday but until the pavement warms up our videos would be nothing but sliding.

  • When are you going to post a running video?

  • Can you unbox the jato 3.3

  • If all the android phones have the same USB port like the iPod or iPhone then traxxas would have probably done something like that for android phones but the only choice traxxas had was apple thats why it's iPhone only on the radio

  • @warmonkey1220 They had other options. bluetooth, wifi, etc... but chose the "idock" because it's just plain cheaper and made for this kind of thing.

  • the I-phone stuff is fun

  • Wheres the running video????????????

  • I have a feeling eventually they will have a port for the app to android devices so the other smartphones will be able to use it. Or someone will hack it and port it themselves.

  • @plastation7 Yeah I have that feeling too it's called wishful thinking lol. Traxxas has publicly stated they have no plans to adapt to android but if someone out there is willing to take the time maybe...

  • 5 dislikes from people who bought iPhones just for their X-01.

  • @NicholasMides Ha well personally the ipod touch or iphone makes this radio more capable than anything out there.

  • air resistance and weight with bring that ~80mph down to 50.

  • @36POINTBLANK Read below. Telemetry does not measure drag only wheel speed. So why does it not lock at 50mph? That is the point of this video.

  • @rcnightmare yea and when your driving in real conditions, the wheels are gona be moving slower.

  • @36POINTBLANK Yes that has been beat to death in the comments but it's not why we posted the video. The radio uses telemetry (speed of the wheels) to limit the speed so why does it let us go past this speed? Got to ask the right questions here and whoever can give us the answer will be our new friend =]

  • Hi, do you think the TQi system is accurate? I saw a video when the TQi top speed was 90 while the GPS they mounted on the car said that the top speed was 79.1. Do you think its worth getting? Also, how does the TQi measure the speed? If the radio system measures the rpm of the spur gear to calculate the speed, when you go full throttle, doesn't the spur gear spin first(slips) before the car moves. If that happens then the TQi wont get an accurate reading then. PLEASE REPLY IF I SHOULD GET THIS!

  • @N3wPinoy Yes very accurate. There is no slipper on this model but even if it had one that slip is only for a fraction of a second. The only time it is not accurate is when the wheels are slipping so this system is as accurate as your (real) car's Speedo. I can't even begin to go into all the factors that cause GPS to be inaccurate most of the time on an R/C car.

  • @rcnightmare is the summit fn to drive because i am not sure if i should get it?

  • @SuperRookieboy The TQi will be the standard release in all Traxxas models but without the optional docking station and telemetry.

  • Thanks for the prompt reply. I must have missed the keywords in your tutorial when you said break in for brushed motors

  • Are you supposed to break in the motor with the dry or wet method as you showed us in the past?

  • @TheVegasMD No break-in necessary on brushless motors. Not a bad idea to take it easy on the first run though.

  • Somebody actually posted "stop copying rcnightmare" so that shows you have fans supporting you. I didn't bother saying anything because they were kids but thought you and Jeremey would get a kick out of it. I'll link you to the video in the next post

  • @TheVegasMD yea, were glad you were not mean to em..just kids, we think is cool they are trying

  • Off topic but wasn't on my computer to post on the forum. Did you guys notice the 2 guys that are copying you. They call themselves "therclightning" and follow your same format. They even had one guy take off the body while the other started with technical. You should feel proud

  • @TheVegasMD free country and we're flattered! =]

  • i didnt know my iphone had to be connected to the internet. that blows. oh well not like i was gonna get it anyway.

  • @PROJ3KTJ30 iphone with no internet??

  • @rcnightmare i have wifi but i dont have 3g internet data plan.

  • @PROJ3KTJ30 FYI Internet access is only used during firmware updates or factory unlock

  • @rcnightmare is the unlock like a one time thing or would i have to do it everytime?

  • @PROJ3KTJ30 One time deal through the internet unless you reset the factory lock. After the factory unlock you can lock/unlock it personally via a 4 digit code without the internet

  • @PROJ3KTJ30 one time.

  • Alright, I didn't think we would have to spell it out but I don't like people thinking we made a meaningless video or are trying to mislead anyone.....WATCH CAREFULLY, the car should be LOCKING AT 50MPH......it does NOT...that is all we are showing you...

  • @rcnightmare

I know ur NOT that dumb unless thats not u doing the unboxing review. VERY NICE BTW. Yours was the best hands down. I think you know it doesn not lock the speed using actual speed So of course it will do over 50mph with the tires off the ground. I will ask AGAIN. PLEASE show it going over 60mph w/GPS as its already been proven multiple times the I device is off 10mph so that # on your I gadget means NOTHING. I bet u cannot get it going over 60mph using GPS without unlocking it.

  • @modernsound "does not lock the speed using actual speed" then what does it lock it with? Traxxas themselves has said it limits the speed based on the telemetry, not power. So what else is there? How does the system know when it's doing 50mph besides the built-in telemetry? Someone has to be wrong here and either way RCN is pointing out something worthwhile.

  • @voltupgeardown exactly...gps is just an option btw...not even on the model

  • @voltupgeardown

The speed is "calculated" using RPM's of the motor. My point is it does not know the exact speed. It would have to have GPS for that. U do know how telemtry works dont u? I do. As stated earlier the speed is 10mph off using GPS so when u get it to do over 60mph using GPS then you are pointing out something worth while but I am positive you wont. I am sure you already know that.

  • @modernsound No sorry sir it is you who isn't understanding the telemetry and RCN is politely trying to tell you that. There is no magic number (10mph?) as to how accurate GPS is, that's based on so many factors I won't even go into it. The TQi's telemetry is quite accurate as long as it has the right parameters (shown in the video). But that's all besides the point lad. Once that screen reads 50mph, the throttle should be limited and it's not. Simple as that. Quite interesting too thanks RCN.

  • @rcnightmare it is very unlikely that it is speed locked as you think it is, it is a power reduction and not a speed cutoff. this means in free air and no load, yeah sure, you will exceed the 50mph. but on the road it will not have the power to run more than around 50mph. just saying, its simple physics

    all the best ;-)

  • WOW the lengths people will go to to get views. COMMON SENSE tells me it will NOT go that speed on the GROUND. Talk about BS. Why try to BS people who dont know better???

  • @modernsound I think he just made a mistake on this tbh but it wont go that fast for sure.

  • @neversurdender lol oh man you guys crack us up here. We don't much care what speed it said as long as it's over 50mph, get it? Read title, watch video again. I think only one person has the correct comment on here so far. The rest of you are reading into it just too far.

  • @modernsound whoa buddy! I think you, like a lot of the people commenting, are entirely missing the point of this video. Did you read the title?

  • @rcnightmare

No I am NOT missing anything except the few mins I wasted watching your vid. You know exactly what you are doing. Its all about getting paid isnt it. The more MISLEADING your title is the more views you get and the more $ you make. I cant believe u dont actually C how this hurts your credibility. Now if you were legit you would tried to show us it going 80+ UNLOCKED on the PAVEMENT.

  • @modernsound geez...ok do I have to spell it out??? The Car is supposed to lock at 50MPH........it doesn't......thats all....

  • @rcnightmare But theres no resistance on the tires.Ill believe this when i see it running on the ground with you showing its locked.

  • @neversurdender The factory lock only limits speed, not power. Does not matter if wheels are on pavement or free wheeling on the bench.

  • @rcnightmare

Dude u really need to research telemetry. It does NOT send the speed back to the ESC from the I-gadget and tell it to limit cus the speed is over 60mph.

  • @modernsound Easy Professor, we are here to help you guys. You're trying to tell me how it doesn't work, not helpful. I never said it sends the speed to the ESC, quite the opposite. I'm 15 years familiar with telemetry. Let me help you.

  • @modernsound The factory lock is suppose to cut throttle at 50mph. It calculates this speed based on the RPM sensor built into the spur gear, NOT the motor. It calculates the speed based on the final drive of the vehicle as well as the diameter of the tires as we showed in the video. So when the ipod screen reads 50mph, the TQi should be capping the throttle at that point, but it doesn't. That's the whole point of this video. Send a PM if you would like to talk further.

  • :)

  • you should unbox a 1/8 mad beast brushless by exceed

  • @funjiwars their shit.

  • How much more money did you have to put into it to reach the 100mph mark? Can you break it down?

  • @intercepter01 watch again. stock car factory lock.

  • Should have showed an upside down run of before you did your unlocking, show the governor kicking in, and then do your unlock method and show you going above the governor.

That way we would have been able to see the difference, since I have nothing to base a change off of with just 1 run up. :)

  • @brainanator Read video title and watch again I think you missed the idea here.

  • Nice!!!!!

  • with the car rolling on the ground + the body shell, that's alot of drag so they know it wont exceed 50.

  • @nicholas5674 no, thats not really correct....more drag will just draw more...

  • a guy at my local hobby shop had 1 off these!!!

  • thumbs up for almost 200 vids!

  • 3 dislikes are people who cant get an x-01

  • @adanali63 lol

  • @adanali63. or don,t like boring speed runs and would rather spend 1000 on 5T hmm. keep an open mind jackass.

  • @santclause1 So it's a 5T or nothing Mr Open Minded? =]

  • @rcnightmare. no. could also get 5B lol.

  • @adanali63 not trolling just asking. can you get one?

  • @adanali63 Or i can make a losi faster and cheaper... noob

  • its capable of that speed maybe with no resistance. get it on the ground outside and show real speed

  • @billzkustomz It is capable of 100mph on the ground but that's not the point of this video..watch it again =]

  • @billzkustomz I agree its probably due to no resistance on the tires that its giving that speed.

  • @neversurdender It's giving that speed because that's how fast that car would be going if it was on the ground. Of course it would be pulling a lot more current to do so but......your missing the point of the video! watch again =]

  • please put this car into a wall at 100 where it belongs :)

  • @billzkustomz

And record it in slo mo :) It would be awesome :D

  • looks like a fun car but ..... i wanna see 80+ MPH drifting !!! put some plastics on that thing and let it drift !!!!

  • @1994toyotasupra lol..um....maybe?

  • @rcnightmare i guess thats better than a no lol ... atleast consider it !!!! just set the limiter if you can to like 60 or something find a nice open smooth lot and mess around !!!!! i mean i bet theres noone thats gonna drift to so i bet if you drifted it, it would be soo intense you brain would melt

  • Awesome video brando, you and jeremy put together some inspirational and informative video's

  • @MrJohnny2thumbs Thanks for watching =]

  • you're forgetting drag co-efficient. once on the ground, you are going to be pushing a 7-ish pound car on the street with wind resistance. it may seem like a small factor, but it really is a huge factor.

and another factor is that HOW is it calculating speed if the car itself is not moving. it clearly isn't gps, so it must mean it is a sensor somewhere finding the speed at which the wheels are spinning. wheels spinning at 80mph does not equal car going 80mph

  • @rustler001 lol once again missing the point of the video but yes I fully understand the concept of bench testing verses loaded. This car WILL DO the rated speed but instead of pulling the few amps as it was on the bench it will be pulling closer to 100 amps to overccome all drag and friction associated with those speeds. But watch the video again....

  • Just drive it

  • @anything896 oh wel will...

  • Cute, but who is going to be able to watch the speedo and drive at the same time. Looking forward for the crash vids on youtube...THE HORROR!!!

  • @justgregg100 It records all data for viewing later.

  • Was that realy 80 mph.?

  • @crazybuilder37 checks out.

  • Wow! Why so much hate for this car?

  • Interesting...

  • thats not under load tho so i figure it won't go that fast on the road

  • @CrazyAce211 Was not full throttle or charge. Loaded it will pull (a lot) more current to hit the same speed.

  • you can tell that the motor isnt even trying...even so it still has 81mph wheel speed?? WOW!!!

  • Wow! A little faster that 50! Even when u put this on a road test it still will exceed 50 as the weight and shape of car won't cause much difference. It is aerodynamic and has a super low center of gravity! The test was wheel speed not top speed as u will loose some but not a lot of speed on road! Thanks guys for the show!

  • @KyleLucasRC =]

  • I must agree with mobilitytody that this was not a valid test. With wheel friction air resistance and the weight of the car you definitely won't get that speed. Do a street run with a speed gun test.

  • @higgout Missing the point...but yes it will hit those speeds loaded the difference being the amount of current it will pull to do it.

  • @rcnightmare Ok I get it now but I guess we all just want to see the thing on the road hitting the 100mph.

  • 84mph just because it wasn't on the ground.. if you ran it on the ground it wouldn't peak past 50mph.

  • @mobilitytoday Not the point of the test but yes it will pull a lot more current fully loaded to hit that speed but it will hit that speed and more. That was 75% trigger.

  • Awsome video!!!!

  • Oh man! That video was such a tease! That thing sounds powerful! Can't wait to see how it is on the road!

  • Even if they did limit it to 50mph stock out of the box when it is geared 14/46, after putting the 34 tooth pinion on the motor that would be equivelent of turning 121mph so could it possibly be a built in GPS limiter?

  • @camaro400 im sure someone will get it to hit 150 easy lol im ordering mine once tax money comes in lol

  • @camaro400 No but a GPS module is an optional part =]

  • That was it,

    More x01

    But I did thumbs up

  • 23000rpms at 84mph this thing is going to be able to go way way over 100mph it could even begin to blend

  • @TheUnDeRGRouNDHoBo Remember 1650kv is unloaded rpm.

  • locked at 50 but got to 80 ummmm confusion is now in progress

  • Nice..maybe fly here to Oz where it's always summer :)

  • @BulldogMatt22 send the flying monkeys to get us!

  • isn't it late over there in Wisconsin...2am??:)

  • @d100020471 yea...just finished shooting and decided to throw this little clip up

  • A month!!!!!???? F YOU SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dude I won put snow chains on my xo-1 if it was snowing out. It's traxxas, gotta be water proof! Can you at least do more videos plz

    Thanks guys!!!

  • @jdavalos767 of course, shot two more tonight...

  • @rcnightmare the lipos and the esc are not waterproof!!!!!

  • The iPod controller looks brilliant!

  • @twotenseven :)

  • LMAO! That's Great!

    Thanks Guys!

  • WHEN ACTUAL RUNNING VIDEOS?????? I'm dying to see it in action fml!!!!! Can you drift with it????

  • @jdavalos767 it's feb...literally snowing right now...it's going to be at least a month unless something happens with the weather...hoping for it to clear up..

  • @jdavalos767 Not with stock setup. Drift tires, a 4s, and tuning would probably make it doable..more vids coming =]

  • @jdavalos767 am i the only one that understands that this isn't waterproof. and that theres snow on the ground for another 2 or 3 months?

  • Do you ever just think their cheating you to think you are actually going 100...?

Because a guy also used a separate GPS and only got his up to 77 on the transmitter, yet on the GPS it was around 50.

...and I'm pretty sure his was unlocked?

  • @purplelambo95 cant speak for his setup but our XO-1 will do 100mph. more vids coming

  • @purplelambo95 no, check the math equation in the description, the rpm's at the speed measure out..not saying people always tell the truth, but, it's a little more evidence..

  • It's not very interesting, would be better to do a running video, car actually on the ground to see if it would go over 50..

  • @dbest1a agreed...however...it does

  • @rcnightmare really, that's sweet. Even still at least the unlock isn't that hard to attain. Wish I could afford one. My street is about a 2 mile straight.

  • go figure traxxas would pull some bs like that. ill believe 100mph when i see it on a radar gun.

  • @kylea1985 you will...must...assassinate old man winter...

  • @rcnightmare im not denying it will do 100mph, im just a little shocked that its a calculated speed on the i phone, rather than a gps speed. im almost pissed lol

  • @kylea1985 lol yea, GPS is king, thats why we used the long form mathematical equation to verify, and it checks out..

  • lol tricky buggers

  • @Calistuntin :)

  • traxxas you assholes! lol

  • @AllRepair :)

  • Thumbs This video up if you also :)

  • :)

  • @MXRac3r545 :)
