  • @MrNintendolover Thanks!

  • I love your intro {^.^}

  • Imaginary money for imaginary buses.

  • Hey Philip how ya been dude? sorry i havent been on much lately, been busy with work n stuff haha :P

    anyways, awsome new intro!

and grats on your package arrival! XD

    5/5~

  • Hey man!

Just saw this comment now - sorry I was late commenting.

    I've been good. ^^

    Hope you're doing well too~

  • Oooh I love getting packages in the mail! :D

I know a guy who hitch-hiked in Japan and didn't have much trouble with it.

I would be too scared of getting murdered or something. :P

Btw, graphics at the start look SWEET.

  • Yeah - I have a couple friends who hitchhiked too.

    They all loved it.

I just have too little time and enough money, so it didn't make much sense in the end...

    Thanks for all the comments!

Glad you enjoyed the series~ ^^

  • I'm digging the new graphics.

  • Nice little cam stove. You order that from a Japanese shop. I love Mont Bell for camping gear! It reminds me of MEC back in Canada.

  • For outdoor goods, the US Amazon prices blow Japanese shop prices out of the water!

Just make sure to buy from the main vendor - other vendors' shipping is expensive and slow, but theirs is quick and pretty cheap.

    Links in the sidebar. ;)

  • good stuff. I once tried to hitch hike from ehime to tokyo but gave up after 6 hours and got the train..!

btw, where did you get the thermarest? Mine has a hole in and I need to get a patch.

    joseph

  • Check the sidebar, my friend. ;)

Debating on getting a shorter Therm-a-rest though...it doesn't really matter if my feet are on the ground, I think. But it was really comfy! :D

Wow - sounds like hitching didn't go so well for you either, huh?

Most people I've spoken to say it's ridiculously easy to get a ride in Japan. I'll have to give it another shot someday when I have more time and less money.

  • that's clever the way you cunningly included all the info and I ignored it. Thanks :-)

  • LOOOOOCO in travel MODE. booyah

  • Yeah - I gotta hold myself back. If I get too lost in it, I might never come back. Somehow I feel so much better out on the road than in my comfy flat. Something tells me I wasn't meant to live in a comfy apartment...

  • Nice intro. I need a tutorial on how to do that.

  • Phillip,

Looks a little like our trip to Hokkaido! We tried some hitchhiking but weren't really into in. Have you read the info for hitchhiking in Japan on the wikitravel site? It lays it out in great detail. We plan on trying it when we have more time and less of a schedule.

We also did some guerilla camping down in Shimoda this summer. We pitched our tent in a park by the ocean - beautiful views in the morning and no people (and free!). I'll check out the other videos later, tater...

  • shweet. Can't wait to see stove and camping fails! HAHAHA- I mean... see you having a lovely time. ^_^

  • I almost blew up the stove one time when I was trying to light it - near fail!

Wish I had had my camera ready then.

Unfortunately for YouTube, it was an awesome camping trip - everything went smoothly. Kinda boring, huh? :P

  • Are you allowed to sleep outside in the woods?

And in the rurals, are you allowed to set up camp in farmers "back yard"?

  • Hmmm...I'm not a good expert on this, but I don't think anyone is really. Basically, I think you can sleep anywhere in Japan. The cops apparently don't bother anyone. Going on private property and all isn't cool I'm sure, but it's not like the US where Bubba will break out his sawed-off shotgun on your ass.

I was in a empty campsite, staying for free just 'cause there was noone there to pay. :P

But I think you can easily get away with setting up in a farmer's backyard.

  • Awesome! Thanks for the fast response

  • No prob~

Make sure to share if you go out on some cool adventures!

  • travelling...i'm jealous.

  • Back home working and editing...don't be jealous. :P

  • i am also waiting for part 3, while hitch-hiking Tolokyo gets beating up and thrown in someone's trunk...guess that didn't happen since your uploading them but would have been great youtube :o)

  • hahahahaha

  • Haha - well, if I had ended up hitchhiking, I don't think it would ever end up that way in Japan. But I agree - it would be great YouTube.

  • SHAME ON YOU!!!!!!!!

HITCHHIKING is THE BEST thing to do in japan. i told you.

nice to see that at least u went traveling (and that u can afford it)

cant wait for the next one.

    Chilli

  • Ahhh O__O

The teacher has come to scold me. :P

Yeah - I totally would love to have some experiences like you had man!

It'll be the right time for me at some point - just wasn't right this time. I'm sure I'll be hitching a lot next year as I'll have a lot of time and a little money. This time I had little time and plenty of money, so it just didn't make sense...

How're your travels treatin' you these days?

I'm sure you have plenty of awesome new stories to tell! :D

  • awesome vid man...make me an intro like that pleeeeeease, no really cool stuff looking forward to the rest of em !

  • Just get a software called Motion - it comes with it.

    ....eh-hem...umm...

Yeah - I'm an AWESOME animator dude! I'll totally make you one for like...I don't know...$2000 sound ok for you? No problem man! :P

  • Nice intro man. This should be a cool series. Lookin forward to them.

  • Thanks!

Not like I made it or anything...it's a template that comes with the editing software I'm using. :P

    But thanks anyway!

  • Nice intro and is hitchhiking a popular thing to do in Japan??

  • There seems to have been a lot of people who have hitchhiked in Japan, and every one of them seems to have great stories from it. I had a guy stay with me before and after a 2 1/2 month hitchhiking trip, and he LOVED every second of it, so I was a bit motivated to try it. But when I actually hit the road, it just seemed kinda ridiculous. He's a really young traveler with no money. I live here, have enough cash, etc...

In the end it didn't work for me, but maybe some other time. ^^
