No it isn't. The high salaries are a function of playing in New York. They don't guarantee success. I, as a Yankee fan, have never felt that we should just win because we have the most talent or the highest payroll. For a good part of that period the Yanks were not even the best team, not in 2001, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008. In any of those years I could've found serious flaws with the Yankee roster. In baseball more than any other sport, the most talented team doesn't always win.
