  • hey I'm new to TIG welding, does anyone know where I can get basic insutructions and techniques? Because I can't get an arc this nice and my tungsten always either balls up or gets consumed. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

  • @TheRoastedPeanut ur tungstens probably balling up if your machines on dcep nice trick to use when welding aluminum always make sure your tungstens nice and pointed and if it contaminates grind it clean but to weld steel put your machine on dcen and youll be able to weld and look up techniques like the stack of dimes or walking the cup or keyhole if your welding pipe good luck!

  • your technique is pretty good i prefer tig welding looks nicer

  • this is about the most useless video I have ever seen

  • Mdthread, You have any root pass vids in hiliard and more hot passes, filler and caps?

  • any vids of you putting a root in on the 6g position?

  • I give ya props bro you do show alot of good stuff in your vids but i just wish you had them labled 1 threw lol i'm jumping around to much ... cool shit though it's helping me out alot with my tig

  • watching this videos helped me alot, cause im also learning how to do this stuff myself as well

  • it looks like your pushing in at about 45 degrees, is that correct? looks good, i'm just not very acquainted with tig, and would like to learn as much as i can.

  • I am holding the torch in my left hand and filler rod in my right hand going up the right side.

  • when ur going up the right side, do u use your left hand or ur right?

  • Great video, very informative, thanks a lot for sharing!

  • what size cup would he be using

  • so you do a HP then a filler then 2 caps? Are there other vids for these?

  • awesomE videos. Best on the net.(that I've seen so far)

  • I hope this is a compliment senior!

  • Oh yea ,he was most definately complimenting you.

  • solo puedo decirle a este compa gracias, por compartir sus conocimientos y experiencia en soldadura con toda la raza que mira sus videos ,!!! bien por ti!!!.

  • Solo la raza, hombre?

  • ¿Qué?

  • I wish my rig had a flexible neck...

    Cool videos!

  • I don't know what you mean. Are you talking about being able to see the weld?

  • thank god!!!!! i thought I would only see some green shit! thanks

  • Where is the video of you actually welding this? i would love to see this. I'm considering the Pipe Fitters Union after I graduate from Community College. I'm not so hot at TIG as I use to be but I'm willing to make it look great.

  • Yes it is. Now you know as well that I just don't stick rod.

  • Is this 2% thoriated tungsten?

  • this video was very helpful for me. i still stick my filler rod from time to time, but learning to walk the cup makes for very nice welds. thank you.

  • Thanks for your input. It isn't a big deal to dip the tungsten you can file it out or grind it out. Most of the time you won't see tungsten inclusion. I know it is not desirable to dip the tungsten but it does happen. I have welded all those things you referred to as well except Titanium. I have done the purge on exotic metals too. That is the thing about welding friend. What works for some may not work for others, but it doesn't make it wrong either way you go. Walking the cup is a blessing.

  • YouTube RocKs!!

Thanks for all your efforts, BUT, as a welder who had to pass the 6G test, with argon purge for 100% penetration with TIG overpasses, 1/8 in. gap, then cut into four stripes, bent backwards and xrayed,

DIPPING is NEVER exceptable, expecially when referring to PIPE welding. Don't like the "walking the cup" method or how you lay and not "add" the filler rod.

I have spent years behind the helmet doing stick, mig, tig, stainless, aluminum, titanium, mild steel, and galvanized.

  • you should show us the result....anyway,you've done a very good job well done...thanks for posting this vid...

  • Richie I am coming up the right side but I am using my left hand to control the rig and right hand to feed the filler rod.

If I am coming up on the left side it would be rig in the right hand and filler in the left hand.

  • hi again mike, are you coming up the right side of the pipe withe your torch still in your right hand or you working with left hand.i normally work with the torch facing to my right coming up on the 6g position right side.

  • Good vid!

    Excellent perspective

Cuts short at the end and would have been nice to see the finished product tho. :)

  • Awesome video and commentry Mike I loved this Vid n watching you walk your rig & feed the filler Rod ........ what a fantastic learning resource WELL DONE!

Learnt heaps from watching you do this!

  • thanks
