they are running it out of fuel completely, if you try to start a motor with 100% nitro it will not fire. you have to start them in steps gas to alcohol alcahol to nitro.

@steve19745 They don't always start on normal gas, but yes, usually from alcohol to nitro... but never 100%, that stopped many years ago.

just curious, why do they always slightly rev it up again right before they kill it? All the videos i see are like that. They do those couple of massive revs, then they rev it up slightly while killing it.

@studtulloss45 They aren't revving the car, to shut off the motor they have to bleed the fuel system to starve the engine of fuel, and that is what happens.
