I'm Breton, but I really know nothing about my own culture, I was born in quebec canada and I never really got to learn anything about Brittany, I should start researching it lol
@gabi326jjk : I highly recommend going to Bretagne! It's a beautiful countryside. I hope you make it there someday soon! (And I hope I make it to Scotland LOL)
@TheDNAngel its very common for example to associate the bagpipes with ireland and scottish however these instruments were not born there. the bagpipe came from the middle east and the aegean. the cultures of bulgaria, macedonia and also galicia in spain use the bagpipes extensively. the celtic influence of ireland came mainly from spain, when celtic tribes moved over the ocean. real ethnic irish people therefore arent stereotypically red haired. they have dark hair and dark eyes!
@Lotrfan99 Interesting comment. I've read that the nation w/ the largest percentage of red-haired people is Scotland; but red hair can be said to be more common among the Irish than in many other nations. Spain: until the Moors came in many of the original inhabitants were fair (check out paintings). There are many of what they call "Black Irish" or CeltIberians but the statistics show that by and large, Irish people are fair-skinned, with dark brown hair and blue, grey, or green eyes.
@MignonJuju That may all be true in contemporary society. Historically seen it makes no sense. The Moors ruled Spain from ca. 700 AD to the expulsion in 1492. While there was definitely an ethnic symbiosis Spaniards never were fair. They did not have light skin or red hair. Typically Northern Spaniards do have light brown to brown hair and brown or blue eyes. They are not pale and red or blond haired and never have been.

Check out Alan Stivell. There's a live in dublin album that is really wonderful Breton folk rock. Very continental sounding.
