  • Bozeman, Montana???? YES!!!! Greetings from Billings!

  • Hey, Neighbor!@casbah1982

  • Why not add some Aloe Vera gel instead of the glycerine? I've seen several recipes for dish soap that use grated up soap (Octagon, Fels Naptha, Zote, ect). They add vinegar to the mix as well. Just wondered if you tried any of these recipes and whether they didn't work as well as your recipe?

    Thanks

  • Hmmm, aloe vera would sure be good for your skin while you wash! I like it!

I have tried the grated soap once and it turned solid and was difficult for me,so

I never did it again. I'm sure they work well, though! Tell me what you try and

    what works for you!@1timby

  • @Dorothy7476 I found some Ivory with aloe. So, I'm experimenting with dissolving it in boiling water and adding some distilled white vinegar. Will see in 24 hours if it's going to work. Keep you fingers crossed.

  • @1timby well did it work? i need to know im broke

  • @eLoveCR7 Our attempts to make a suitable dish soap were failures. I was trying to utilize things I thought wouldn't agitate my wife's soreness on her hands. Nothing yet.

  • I tried it and I didn't like it. There are no suds. My dishes take a longer time to dry and my glasses film up when I touch it. The scent smells good. I am going to the store and buy some store bought dishwashing liquid. Not sure if it is disinfecting my dishes.

  • Yeah, I don't know why the best shampoos and dish soaps can't have suds - but there it is!@GumdropDaisy

  • @GumdropDaisy That's not surprising. Castile soap and vinegar counteract each other and produce that film of fatty acid. Too many people who don't know chemistry are promoting recipes like these.

  • Vegetable Glycerine is a liquid with a sweet taste, used as an agent in cosmetics, toothpaste, shampoos, soaps, herbal remedies, pharmaceuticals, household items. It is soluble in both, water and alcohol with emollient like properties to soften and soothe the skin and it assists the outer epidermis is retaining moisture. Its solvency action aides herbalists in extracting botanical properties from plant materials without the use of alcohol. vitacost & health stores@TheFragrantMuse

  • What is the purpose of the vegetable glycerin? Where does one find it?

  • Thank you Dorothy ~ I wil definitely make this when my current dish soap is gone. I'm going to make your homemade cleaning solution when my current stash is gone as well. I've already ordered all the ingredients and will be ready to make.

I appreciate you and Kevin sharing this information with us!
