  • สวยจังเลย!

  • great job man ;)

  • WOW! Really WOW!

    Awesome dude!

  • Awesome! Yet the best "home" cover I've seen. But if you looking to a better miking (especially on bass), it would be FLAWLESS!

  • I love this song very much

  • perfectly played.

  • awesome dude!!! I'm stunned :D good job!

  • kick ass job man! don't pay any attention to people knocking you because you are playing it exactly like the record. lol. i doubt i have to tell u that because you know what's up. the song is what matters, and this is a great part to a great song. i dig yoru attention to detail in playing the original part. and to anyone who thinks this guy is 'unoriginal' or whatever other crap u might think, i guarantee he can compose and improvise with the best of em. keep it up man. u rock!

  • Bravo!

  • i would like to subscribe you but i can't cause i did it already a year ago :) your style of playing is so...relaxed.

  • you should redo this cover it would be really cool if you did

  • amazing my friend.good job!!!only 2-3 misses,well done

  • i love how the beat is so simple at 2:00 but so fuckin powerful

  • @jmiester25 yea me too! that part is so meat and potatoes and grooves just perfect! love tha part too

  • If something ever happened to Mike Portnoy and he could no longer play the drums, you would probably be the only replacement for him.

  • Congrats man! Really good. You play with extreme confidence, just like MP.

  • dude. what kind of cymbals are these?

  • Paiste

  • aweome! dude it's awesome to crank those speakers up and listen to this awesome jamming dude!!!!

  • have you ever tried not to copy it? give it your feel and not portnoy's? Try it ;)

Musicians make their own music, not others.

  • I see what you are saying, I really do. Trust me, I can put my own feel to anything I want to and do it well.

I choose to do my covers very close to the original.

  • i agree with you man. i love to play this song and i always just mess around and play different fills but in the end i just love playing it the way MP did it. he's awesome and this version is the way he intended it to be! This song is very fun to play

  • @gspot27 That's absolutely right, shouldn't it be that why it's called a "cover"?. also you play very fine, although acoustics didn't help the snare, but congrats man.

  • Who's anyone to change Mike Portnoy's music? It's rude and cocky.

  • @Jhimest that's called jealousy.

  • @Jhimest that would be known as whats called a mimic, I mean its not bad to do, but you should really focus on getting down the song exactly how the drummer plays it first it really tests the skill of listening and recreating what you hear; visualizing it

  • 4:26 metropolis?

  • Yes, that is where the rhythm pattern was derived from as per Mike Portnoy himself in his video Liquid Drum Theater.

  • man I wish I had the skills keep doing it!!!

  • Wow! Dude, great job! you're really hitting the right beats & you have great control & tempo. Kudos! :)

  • Love this song and my jaw dropped when I saw you playin it... Good job mate

  • you fucking rock's this cover is totally amazing!!!

  • God damn!

    That was phenomenal.

  • Fucking awesome man !!!! thats really god !!!!

  • thats fucking badass man u got a great talent there

  • Awesome man! i love that song! wish i could play like you..

  • from a drummer of 20 years, that is incredible.

  • Thank you man! That is the kindest compliment one can receive.

  • sht what a good cohordination

  • wow... you nailed it dude..

  • just like i nailed yo mudda! oooooohhhhhhh.

  • Amazing!

  • FUCKING Awesooooooooooooooome man!!!!

  • that intro was sweet bro! totally dominated this song

  • i love this drums part when portnoys plays with the cymbals 5:05 - 0:49 and you do it very good

    5/5

  • oh man this is orientel i love it i'm a drummer from egypt lol gr8 man .

  • great.bravo

  • I have been watching nearly all of your videos. I can safely say, your drum videos are one of the best drum videos with very clean sound and technique. Other drum cover videos generally doesn't fit to the song, however yours are going up with the tape. Congrats!

I've just realized that I didn't write any of your videos.

  • its pretty good actually. just i think you could get into it more and perform it like portnoy...but still awesome job.

  • Thanks man!

I hear what you are saying but I play it like I play it. But please take into account that I am concentrating really hard to play and keep in synch with the backing track.

  • nice. U have two other beaters? why? :P

  • The one on the right broke a long time ago and my guitar player had the red wood beater laying around. I stuck it on the pedal and never bought a new one until this last year. Now I have two Iron Cobra wood beaters.

  • One question.... has Mike Portoy seen any of these drum covers by you?

    Fantastic job!

  • I have no idea. I would imagine he could have since I post new videos on his Forum.

  • wowo very good my man very talented i play the guitar inly

  • süper çalmış abim yaaa...tebriklerrr...

  • little mess in intro...this song dont attempts to improvise it... :) but its so awsome look him how is he enjoing with this so rich drumms

  • Good job, missing a few bass notes though,

  • Listen to the intro carefully, the kicks are a bit more intricate then they seem.

  • on mams buenisimo ur fuckin amazing

  • te pasaste de VERGA ijueputa

  • Jaja che Yuca

  • You are awesome! I'm subscribing to you!

  • sick, man!! /,,/

  • Holy fuck man, you've done a great job!

  • Beautiful! It really looks like you have put a lot of work into it. And the result is outstanding!

  • Awesome! Nice fkn vid.

  • great stuff dude! :-)

  • what cymbals do you use?

  • its on his channel page

  • Amazing!!!

  • YOU ROCK SO HARD!!!

this is one of my favorite songs from SOAM

    Mike Portnoy is a god

    and you are too...

  • good job.. i thought only Mike could do this :)

  • many people can do what Mike Portnoy does, the thing that makes Portnoy the drum god that he is, is that he comes up with the material. Even though he is one of the best drummers out there, he is also, in my opinion, a genius.

  • you make it look easy congrants...

  • MUY BUEN VIDEO!

  • omg!! amazing!!! i love dream theater, and this is good.... no awesome performation. iwish i can do that

  • Awesome duude!!!

Tell me how you practice your right hand on 5:07 - 5:26...?

  • Awesome! Love the fill at 5:37!

  • love ur set bro

  • Simply amazing...

Great job! Keep up the good drummin!

  • I am 45 and have been drumming all my life. I have to say this is one of the most spot on performances I have ever seen. I study Mike's work like an artist studies his canvass. Great job. I would love to see your interpretation of one of your DT favorites. Not a copy, but something you want to do to a song! Keep it real!

  • dude this is perfect, maybe you and the real drummer shuld have a face off,i mean you have the perfect time and everyting =p

  • nice job;)........ onestly for me this cover sounds better than the original......:))));)

  • God damn amazing.

But one thing I noticed; when the vocals first come in. With that basic rock beat. Portnoy only plays the bass drum on 1 and 3. You do all 4. Nothing wrong with that. Just something I noticed.

  • Thank you for commenting. But I have to correct you. Portnoy plays 4 on the floor. You can probably find the DVD for Liquid Drum Theater where he breaks down most of Home.

  • Oh for serious?

    OK. I heard wrong.

  • holy...fucking...shit :) Beautiful job. Love the tone of your drums too. Great cymbal work.

  • nice job m8 :)

  • bloody flawless...you're amazing bro

  • Thank you! But don't watch part two.. :)

  • one thing i cant find is learning to live

  • Very fucking great :-)))) Fajna perka.

  • damn, dude...this is sooooo good...you've played it perfectly...how long it took you to learn it like this?

  • Holy shit man! Perfect timing, Perfect Co-Ordination, Perfect fucking sound! You are awesome on the drums mate, keep up the great work. You done an awesome cover on my fave dream theater song!

    \\,,//

  • u are just good, i like u like that, u rock dude.

  • amazing..well done...very tightly played..

  • Playing dream theater stuff can be a lot of fun on the drums. Ever consider doing "The Spirit of Radio" by Rush? It's drum part is pretty fun too.

  • Dude i love it! i have seen this video about 50 times nd im still amazed at how gud u r..... any way man well done on it........ o and one last question wat brand is ur kit?

  • great video but i have a question. what symbol do you use at 55 sec in? also the one you use at 1 min and 17 sec? thanks

  • great video but i have a question. what symbol do you use at 55 sec in? also the one you use at 1 min and 17 sec? thanks

  • I have been watching your videos and they are awesome. I play guitar and I dont know too much about drumming but your wrists look very smooth and it is enjoying to watch that, i wish i could do that.. One thing that does not make sense to me.. You post these videos to promote yourself for a band or sth? You should play your own thingzz... Why are you wasting time with covers so much? Im sure this is the zillionth time u are hearing this... but ihave to ask anyways...

  • Ozguhn-- I'll tell you why he posts these. Mike Portnoy is some of the most technical drumming anyone is going to find around. if you can play portnoy, you can play anything. -- And I can play portnoy as well. It takes forever to get it down, but once you do, it's an amazing feeling.

  • Ozgunh, jackshiver sums it up perfectly really. I get the same feeling playing JP's lead on songs. I have been playing guitar now for 15 years and I just love playing along with other songs. I play my own music too but as jackshiver says its an amazing feeling when you can play your fav' guitarist's songs from start to finsh perfectly.

  • i want to listen some of your own work man... greats covers, but i want to listen your own work, thanks. bye

  • hey maN! have you owns songs??

  • Yet again dude, I'm always impressed by your drumming.

The only thing that bugs me is that your base drum is not stretched...

    try stretching it abit =]

  • sweet well played man

those paiste cymabals sound amazing seriously. gspot can you tell what model the one above your ride is?

  • Thank you!

On the left, is an 18" Dimensions Med Thin Full Crash and to the right is a 17" 2002 Full Crash. I don't have the full crash anymore, instead I have a regular 2002 17" Crash.

  • People aren't even giving you enough credit, This is beyond amazing. And this is an amazing band and this is my favorite song by them, And beside the kick ass lyrics the drums are what make my head rock. This is truly fucking God like. And How much did that set cost? A good dollar i bet.

  • Wow! Thanks man! The kit was purchased over a great many years and it is hard to put an actual cost on it but it would be between 6-8k if you bought it today.

  • Thats a good coin my friend, But hell. I have a passion for drums too, And i would spend that much and them some to have a killer set like that. But once again, Good fucking job. I've been watching more of you're videos as well. Why aren't you in a bad? A famous one. Cause you really are a great drum player. You're proving that youtube DOES have talent.

  • Whoops. I meant *Why aren't you in a band*

  • it was'nt flawless but great job anyway

  • One of my favourite Dt songs, dude that was flawless,Gief epic drum set like yours =(

  • This is honestley the best drum covre I have ever seen... this comming from an exspert =P It may not be a tough song, but its better to play a song like this perfect then to play an intense song terribly

  • I'm really impressed. Well done dude!!

  • Man... ure great.. Excellent tempo, pretty faithful in the fills and patterns... Im a drummer myself, but im just starting..

But I must tell u somithing.. You MUST buy a STACK man... those 16th notes with the feet, must be in a stack... theres no way to play dream theater without a stack...

But ill say again.. ure almost perfect in almost all songs that are here.. congratulations man.

  • Pretty good dude. keep it up dude

  • awesome once again ;)

    Just a thought...

I can't imagine what will happen if Mike Portnoy picks you by chance (as he does in some shows during drum solo part) and perform live together :P

    That would be interesting :)

    Cheers keep on...

  • Thanks!

I have had this dream many times!

  • You are good!!! keep it up!

  • OMFG you kick ass!!! Awesome!! Upload something of pain of salvation if u want to!!

  • Awesome!

Your cymbals are all Paiste cymbals, right?

Which model exactly is you HiHat?

  • My hi hats are a combination of a 2000 Series medium hi hats and a 2002 heavy hi hat. On my left it is the 2002 heavy hi hat bottom with the 2000 medium top. The right side is the 2000 med bottom and the 2002 heavy top. Thanks for watching! My cymbal set up is on my channel page.

  • One question and be honest: are you Mike's lost brother ? I mean WOW !

Best song off the album, best cover I've seen, best (custom) performance on youtube and best tribute you could give to a band imo :)

Too bad I can't give more than 5*... GJ dude!

  • damn freak... you rock \m/

  • wow! very good thats a big drum set
