I just don't get it... why the fuck are you all on panic for a foot of snow? I live in Quebec, like a couple km up from DC and we guys get meters of this shit every winter. This year's not so bad, though, we had like 2 or 3 feet total. I'm just thinking you guys will be crying your lives when Ice Age comes back because of your habit of overconsumption that destroys our planet.
And what the fuck do guns and weapons have to do with a snowstorm, huh?
I think that a lot of people would hoard the junk food and obvious stuff, but a few of the real nutritious items might still be available. (Prunes, raisins, dried beans, etc)
Like the others.. my local walmart looks like that on the first week of the month(food stamp week). Luckily, my wife is a food hoarder, and when she moved in, she brought enough food to feed 2 adults for 30-45 days easy. On a side note, if you choose to have a large food stash, be sure to rotate. canned goods don't last forever(had a bad experience with a can of soup that was about 60 days out of date).
I enjoy your videos, RoadWarrior. Please keep them coming! I am curious, I live in Canada, and I think our climates are similar with cold winters. Do you have any videos concerning bugging out in a winter scenario? If I missed it I apologize. I am prepared for a cold bugout, and would like to see how others are doing it for comparison.
i think its sad what this world is coming to and how everone just lives day to dya and dosent think 12 hours into the future let alone a years worth of preps.
@MongoWongo777 Good to see that you are prepared my friend. Here is a little advice about the natural gas supply. When natural gas is piped across country to supply homes, buisnesses etc. it goes through large pump stations which keep the pressure high so that it can be sent along. These stations demand big time electric supply so in the event of an EMP attack or solar flares the elec supply would be disrupted and soon no gas. Consider a propane conversion kit on standby and a propane tank?
Great reminder of what things could be like. Yet this was a relatively minor event. What would happen in a severe emergency? Hope for the best and prepare for the worst.
I live in NEPA storms, snow storms, power outages, not being able to get to a store is a fact of life here. Having food and supplies is something my family has been doing since my great grandparents. We have a gas and wood stove to keep warm and cook with and draw water before storms. Snow melts and you can flush with dirty water. Working on pack up power system. I find it amazing how people are so unprepared. I've herd the tales of how it used to be but a lot of the younger people have no clue
Wow, sobering to see how people react in an urban environment when a snow storm hits. I live in a very large city that gets snow. I always suspected that would happen, but wasn't sure until I saw your video. We create a meal plan for the month. We purchased a stand-alone freezer to store everything. The only problem is storing perishables. I will definitely be improving my stores by including MREs and increase my water capacity. I do have a natural gas generator hardwired to the house for power.
And that was just a day or two right? Imagine how bare the shelves would be in a WEEK if they weren't able to restock! I'm unemployed so spending much on stocking up isn't feasible right now, but I can't imagine not keeping a few weeks worth the canned goods/ dry goods for emergencies. Oh, and WATER....That was a HUGE deal up there in Maryland not so long ago, right? (They had a boil water alert, i think)
Although not ideal to the average joe due to price. If you get the opportunity for a bug out vehicle like this, don't waste it. I'd say a Hummer H1 with 150 amtracks. Take into account the December/February 2 foot snow storm. A vehicle like this would have been perfect. Too bad I can drive yet, or even afford one. Could have used it though.

I have to marvel that people hit this video with a thumbs down. Seriously, what the hell is so wrong with saying stock up BEFORE a damn blizzard? Like during the fall before the SHTF locally. I guess the thumbs down crowd were the same idiots I heard crying about the empty shelves when I lived in the mountains.
Good video. The people who emptied the store though will empty the store next time or go hungry. They won't learn. I don't need to go to any store for at least 6 months.
No disrespect intended, but every winter here in Norway they have a "snowstorm" special on the evening news from USA, and then the reporters laugh. Because then the weather report comes on, and announces that we will get 1 meters of snow the next 1-2 days.. No panic, business as usual. I think people from Alaska thinks the same. Funny thing is that every year the snowstorms come, every year everyone freaks out. How about being somewhat prepared?
And this was just a snow storm. I was in Eastern Europe where they ration water service. You have to store water to flush the toilet. Yeah. If it's yellow let it mellow, If it's brown flush it down.

I'm used to seeing this same thing when people are expecting a hurricane. I keep about 30 days of food and water on hand....our Bug Out System is ready at all times as well...now if I only had more guns.....
Thank you so much for posting this. I don't think that enough people understand that it doesn't have to be a major event like a nuclear attack to clear out all the shelves in a grocery store. @scoobydog411 I purchased mine for around $450 after taxes / fees sadly it's around $530 or more. I heard not a few years back they were less than $100! Not to mention not having the crazy laws against them.
Now why in the heck would your friend be selling his AK?
Good prep because this snow storm was no joke... got 38 inchese here. Now another 10-18 inches on the way tomorrow... don't wait until the last minute. A lot of folks are without power.
Where I live 20 miles from lake superior, we get snow storms like that several times in the course of a winter. We are prepared for that, I can only imagine how an ill prepared region would deal with it.
That's funny! They were sold out at my Walmart of ground beef during the last big storm here too! What are they planning to do if the power goes out??
Great vid bro. We have the same problem with the snow here in the UK. A little snow coupled with the current grit/salt shortage and the place comes to a standstill. Thanks for the wake up call.
RoadWarri0r, great video as always. Wow, and great subject matter and video to back it up in this one. I've seen a lot of videos on prepping, but the video of the empty store shelves brings the message home. People still don't get it, that it CAN happen, better to be prepared just in case. I suspect people in areas that are more likely to get natural disasters (tornados, hurricanes) are a little better prepped, but those outside those areas have the mindset that it can't happen to them.
The power goes out for a week, everyone's water pipes start to burst, frozen sewer system, people steal firewood and burn their furniture, then yours. Fires everywhere, and no water pressure. Sound like fun?
I just got dont shoveling all that damn snow. I went to giant yesterday and the shelves were empty in certain sections. I couldnt even imagine trying to get food there when SHTF, it's alot safer to prepare ahead of time. You wont regret it.
Just another example of how "normal" people behave when anything abnormal happens. This type of panic behavior is as certain as death and taxes. Great video.
And what's sad is people will still wait to the last secound no matter how many times this happens to them. Thats why a weapon and ammo are so important. Because they will come looking to take from you because they were to lazy to prepare. Im not saying to don't help but once they find out your sitting pretty the will get mad and try to take. I'm not being crazy I just know how humans think.
Wow looks like the store down here in Florida 3 days before a hurricane.
FOOD, WATER, GUNS, AMMO all checked off. I'm working on off the grid infrastructure projects; rainwater harvesting, gardening, alternative power storage/distribution, and most important hardening the homestead against looting. Not much else to do til the SHTF!
Thanks for the reminder of what hordes can do to a store.
wow im from the netherlands and i have never seen a store like that :O, but ill be sure to shop for my dear live before the horde does in such a situation.
Awesome post to wake someone up. Now imagine a real crisis. The store would be bare. I heard of people getting hurt trying to buy playstations. Imagine what the chaos would be if the stores were bare for days...
Gorntz......I wonder that myself. We have a fireplace and loads of wood...we also bought a cast iron wood/coal stove 2 years ago just incase we need it. The people better wake up!!!! It's coming.
WAITE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WAITE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Look again at this video and you will see 90% of the food and items are gone. I can promise you this , only 60% of the population did this. Imagine if it was a collapse of the dollar from 79ct. to 57ct. at the end of April. The food would cost much more and the amount carried in the store would be less. I promise you this TOILET PAPER, FOOD, WATER, physical items are worth more than the dollar right now, and After April 2010 more.
I'm almost 48 years old, and have lived in Michigan my entire life. I have never seen bare grocery shelves where I live. Never. I think for many people living outside of hurricane regions, it's a hard thing to imagine. Good video. I hope it makes a lot of people think about the unthinkable.
Haha yeah it's an empty room with a plastic table where I clean my guns and some canned food in the corner. It still has pink walls from when it was a babies room. Got to start somewhere!!!!
Thats funny you put this video out today. After work today i went to Smart and Final and looked at the prices for sacks of rice and beans. I hope next week after I get payed I will get a few sacks of each. Does anyone know how Sterno cans are when it comes to cooking? Thanks RW for another great video to start us think about preparation!!!
I got snowed in for a couple days in December. You dont really need much food to survive a couple days while you are sittin on your ass watching it snow. Besides, for most of us it wouldnt hurt to skip a meal or two. I just cant believe how people panic buy and load up shopping carts like its the end of the world.
Yes, that's what gets to me too -- the way people panic over these very short-lived events. It really gives one pause thinking about how the general populace would act in a real emergency of unknown length. . .
This vid demonstrates how things are when it's "just" a snowstorm. Now think about what would happen if the trucks stopped rolling all over the country? All it would take would be for diesel prices to exceed the point at which it is profitable for drivers to stay on the road. Or civil unrest that made it too dangerous to enter urban areas. Or quarantines due to epidemic. Trucks that roll every day are the lifeline that keeps us fed. And hungry people are DANGEROUS. ='[.]'=
I'm ready here in Columbus, Ohio. We already have 6" and it's still coming down hard. It hasn't stopped since 9am. We went to chinamart this morning ...the sheeple were freaking out and we found it entertaining.
WOW that is scary! I've never seen a store (that was open for businesss anwyay) with shelves that empty before. I've noticed a lot of people crowding a store before a snow storm before but nothing like that. I'm going to make my wife watch this so hopefully she will see why I've developed such an interest in preparedness and supplies lately. Thanks for an excellent video!
Scary is when I went to Mammouth Mountain on a ski trip 2 years ago during a blizzard. We got up there then no one was allowed to leave for 4 days.....there was 12 feet of snow. Now that is scary!!!
how the heck is milk and bread staples? worst things for you, oh well, just shows the ignorance of people! great video, if thats from a snowstorm, just imagine something worse!
Good video and I've seen it up here in washington state too. Back in 98, before I was a prepper, we had a huge ice storm up here. It knocked out the power. My old apartment didn't have a fireplace and man did it ever get COLD! The store was cleaned out and I had the nerve to be surprised. My twisted mind went to work though and I bought cooking oil and made lamps out of old soup cans.
I'd laugh at an event like that these days though.
Good job! -- We have been in a pattern of "a storm a week" but folks still don't seem to get it! To make matters worse, the next one is rolling in early - probably Tuesday or Wednesday! Won't be any "recovery time" here in the Appalachian region!!!
wow! DC must really suck! I live in minneapolis Minnesota and it doesnt matter what happens with the wealther or anything else, the stores around here are always stocked to the max even with massive lines of people. I guess the nwo just doesnt want people in DC to survive.
great job, with the schools being closed on friday and the government shutting down at noon it was a mad scene. your right , this was planned and we had plenty of time to prepare but what if it was an emergency, what if?
Hell yes, you GOT to get there first. That's some scary shit. The store I'm trying to work at keeps delaying their opening times (due to snow, no doubt)! It's a food store so I'm twice as eager to get in there and pack-rat that stuff. And quickly, too, because 2 places have shut down in that same building in the past 2 years.

I'm almost 48 years old, and have lived in Michigan my entire life. I have never seen bare grocery shelves where I live. Never. I think for many people living outside of hurricane regions, it's a hard thing to imagine. Good video. I hope it makes a lot of people think about the unthinkable.

Good vid. I try to just buy an extra few items every time I shop and stash it in the "War Room". ;) It's a good stack now.

ctfam: War Room -- love it!!! I call mine the extended pantry. : )
Michigansnowpony 2 years ago

CaptainTripsz 2 years ago 2
Yes, that's what gets to me too -- the way people panic over these very short-lived events. It really gives one pause thinking about how the general populace would act in a real emergency of unknown length. . .

@Michigansnowpony

This was no more than a snow event. It is minor to what would happen in the event of a major breakdown in supply. Great video.

Thanks for an excellent video!
jasnyoung 2 years ago
Scary is when I went to Mammouth Mountain on a ski trip 2 years ago during a blizzard. We got up there then no one was allowed to leave for 4 days.....there was 12 feet of snow. Now that is scary!!!

how the heck is milk and bread staples? worst things for you, oh well, just shows the ignorance of people! great video, if thats from a snowstorm, just imagine something worse!

They are not designed to be used as a lasting fire. Only something to get your real fire going.

I'd laugh at an event like that these days though.
vention4wh 2 years ago
Good job! -- We have been in a pattern of "a storm a week" but folks still don't seem to get it! To make matters worse, the next one is rolling in early - probably Tuesday or Wednesday! Won't be any "recovery time" here in the Appalachian region!!!

I've seen this happen many times. You even WHISPER the word 'snow' around here, people go crazy and buy everything.
CrystalHunter1989 2 years ago
wow! DC must really suck! I live in minneapolis Minnesota and it doesnt matter what happens with the wealther or anything else, the stores around here are always stocked to the max even with massive lines of people. I guess the nwo just doesnt want people in DC to survive.

great job, with the schools being closed on friday and the government shutting down at noon it was a mad scene. your right , this was planned and we had plenty of time to prepare but what if it was an emergency, what if?

gangstapranksta717 2 years ago
Hell yes, you GOT to get there first. That's some scary shit. The store I'm trying to work at keeps delaying their opening times (due to snow, no doubt)! It's a food store so I'm twice as eager to get in there and pack-rat that stuff. And quickly, too, because 2 places have shut down in that same building in the past 2 years.
