the only problems i encounter with this move is when im tryen to stick my leg across sometimes people will drop and roll and it smashes your ankle. i was soar for like 3 days after that lol.
i tried this on my buddy the other day about 50% of the time i ended up rolloing on my face. thats probably just due to inexperience. but im hoping i can get it solid because the move looks pretty sick.
i do judo and i did BJJ for about 3 months. besides the competition ruleset and some techniques, & training focus they are virtually the exact same thing.
Eh, I tried it, but no cigar. I think I rolled over my head (ouch). I tried rolling over shoulder but if the guy in turtle position pushes into you can he get out of the roll? and can he dish out some spinal injury as well? X...(
Hey I got a question about the move. I can't make it out due to the camera angle.
After he braces and hooks, just before he swims, is Eddies left foot on the left side of his partners face (above the shoulder) with his shin across the back of his partners neck or is it just put on the right side (above the shoulder)?
Again another person misinformed about the 10th Planet system. I am not sure where the notion came that all the moves in 10thP are claimed to be created by Eddie. Not so. It is a system of attacking and how the set ups are created that make it unique. Like the Twister-Eddie never claims he made it up but he did work our many ways to get it.
as my judo teacher said, judos ground game is great, but Judos ground game is about a 1 and he said BJJ brought it to 5 and improved the ground game far beyond Judos. This is coming from a 8th Dan Red belt and former olympic judo coach, the overall move may be similar, but as long as you have 4 limbs, torso and a head all martial arts moves will look similar but there are many differences in each move which result in different outcomes and positions.
That"s great, your teacher is an honest person, BJJ have details, details, details in the ground game that usually you don"t get in Judo. You have a great techer, I know guys that aren2t even black belts and think BJJ is just a copy.
I'm a gi player too, and have tried some rubber guard but with little success. thats not to say thats the technique doesnt work I just cant transition his moves very well I'm sure if I had even one day at 10th planet it would make it easier
I find that if you can get your flexibility the rubber guard slowly comes. Also try against a new student or even someone that knows nothing and practice on them without them resisting at all. Goodluck!
I roll more with gi than without. I still rock rubber guard when I see it though. Its good to have in your arsenal, just so you can bust it out if your opponent puts his hand on the mat.
I use alot of rubber guard and twister and I am a gi player almost exclusively. Eddie is a genius, but I wonder if he has any thoughts of innovating with some gi stuff. I am sure it would be mad creative!!
Nothing works on Marcelo Garcia, hes on a whole nother level. Eddies twister works great, I usually just use it to take the back since neck cranks are illegal in gi competitions. Don't give up on something so fast, it takes time to get it perfect.
awesome, can't wait to try it on the mat. i've been looking for some type of 'sweep' from the back when the guy is turtling.
just curious, i know i saw a vid out there with eddie bravo showing MANY variations from rubber guard to gogo-plata and he was highlighting the importance of getting the opponent's hand on the ground... do you know which video i'm talking about??
i agree. Submissions101's website and utube videos along with Eddie Bravo make the MMA/BJJ game so much more interesting by sharing their knowledge with others
why would you have to set it up? 90% of the people you may have conflict with in the street have no idea what you are doing anyway. but i kinda agree with you in the fact that there are more effective ways to take out a potential hostile.

They aren't the same thing, but for sure they focus on different aspects and comparing them is like comparing an apple and an orange.

Judo moves, trained the jiu jits way.
The way you train and the rules you spar under is what makes the difference. Not the move itself.

one crazy bastard! great moves but too complicated, especially for a street fight, Ill stick to the head butt, and smacking them in the face!

laugh..um....I think everyone knows this isn't for street fighting.

Why not Submissions101? Are you saying that this could not be used in a street fight?
Clavius123 4 years ago
It could..anything could...but there are other and quicker ways to incapacitate your opponent. This move is for submission grappling.

Neat idea to make people move. A lot of people concentrate on the arm joints moreso than the knees. I'll try it out.
