  • 11 people got ripped off!

  • *not very keen ; we didn't join at the end

  • I just had an identical experience! And on the walls they had pictures of happy couples who "joined"! As we went very keen they drooped deposit from 1000 to 300:) thank you very much for the video! You are very smart to bring out the message

  • cool tips. very helpful.

  • Good, but you didnt try to use the benefits of the club, you changed your mind practically over night, you shouldve realised that is IS a CONTRACT, not just a flimsy piece of paper that you can burn upon a change of mind. I work for a timeshare business, and the club isnt for everyone, but there are a LOT of people that get heaps out of it, all im saying is that you shouldve considered how it might be good for you before you just 'sign away', its not their fault you didnt read the fine print.

  • your just upset cause you did not get laptop or money you twat!

  • your just upset cause you did not get laptop or money

  • He paid 8500 pounds (plus 1000 deposit) to a dodgy company who had touted him from a beach, and had told him he must attend a presentation to get a free prize. The presentation dragged on for 5 hours. Why didn't he leave when it became boring. He is obviously an idiot. If you are an idiot, you will fall for this scam. If you're not, you will politely say no to the touts, as you should always do, and walk on and enjoy your holiday.

  • Club Absolute operate the same scam in Phuket and Hong Kong. Theu normally introduce themselves as taking a survey for that countries tourist bureau or do the old scratch card scam.

These people are a waste of time and their operation is a complete scam.

    DO NOT BE FOOLED

  • It is a scam the company knows you're not going to pay the full 8000 or whatever it is now, but they know they'll keep your 1000 pound deposit that's how they make their money and they pay no tax

  • Great tips

  • London must be lonely with half its population standing around the STAR FERRY terminal in H,K, taking 'surveys'.

Joining these benefactors is the way to get the travel benefits.

The man in the B.B.C. exposure is the one who HELPED us last week in H.K..

There were more 'survey takers' than Chinese there so it must be lucrative, So I'm practicing my Cockney accent "Ullo Guv" and when perfect am off to join up. That is, if they're not all in jail by the time I can mask my posh Aussie speech.

  • These events are almost identical to what happened to me with DWVC on the Costa del sol a couple of years ago. I was lucky I got my deposit back via my Credit card company. Beware, These people are the scum of the earth. When i'm on Holiday I make a point now to disrupt the activities of the touts on the streets warning others as loudly as possible.

  • "Lying bint", lol

  • Cool video. Sometimes it's better to see it than hear it. Heck, I'm more convinced even now. Glad you took the time to warn people because someone I know has just been had too.

  • Thank you so much for this important video. We got scammed in Pattaya. Amost identical experience. We lost a $4,000.00 deposit however have found that they can take no further action against us as they are based in the Virgin Isles and their laws do NOT apply to ours. So folk, no matter how much they warn you that they will bring in the debt collectors against you and ruin your credit rating. Their warnings are, simply Absolute bull tish!

    wiser now, Australia

  • will do mate. thanks for the trouble

  • Why do you want us not to post the companies' names?

  • I really enjoyed the animation.

  • DANG...those computer chics have huge tits

  • I have gone 2 something like this in the states where I go to a hotel & there is a place offering free $ 2 go & check out a new time share I go take a quick tour of the place & then when they ask me 2 sign up I tell them that my credit is bad & I am in the process of filing banrupsy they then ask me 2 use the $ "usally" 100 dollars as a deposit until I get my finances 2gether. I don't I just take their money and leave. I have gotten free money, dinners, even discounted condo stays this way. :)

  • Hi Larry lay down

Your video gives me endless amusment very funny if you had half a brain you wouldnt have handed over any money and not all holiday clubs are a scam however any one that would put that much effort into a video deserves to be scamed lol

  • I would go as far as to say that do not accept any offers on the street.

My only holiday in Mallorca, we were approached twice and was able to say NO. So please even without thinking "Just say NO".

  • Yes, I had parents go through similar years ago. The tactic of taking a deposit is classic, and then they say more money due before it is valid.

Never associate your'selves with this kind.! They will ruin your recooperation, relaxation, and thought pattern.

In short, they are sent from hell to annoy and rob.

Your on holiday; already paid for - you got what you came for. Do not spoil it by accepting cretans into your lifestyle.

  • The first time a tout tries to accost me I ignore them. The second time I say "Look at my face and remember it, because if you try to talk to me again I will punch you in the mouth."

The lack of law in Spain works both ways!

  • Great advice. I once went on one of these presentations, after winning the star prize with a scratch card.

I thought "It will pass an hour on!"

We listened to the high pressure sales talk. Then they asked about my credit card. I told them that I had only taken one with me, that had a 500 pound limit (it was in about 1995) and I was already up to the limit.

The look on their faces! They realised I had just conned them and they were getting nothing. They were not happy with me. Great stuff.

  • *Asstounded* you silly prick, you've got to be kidding, right? If not, you're a bigger fuckwit than I thought and the sort of person who deserves to be scammed.

  • OK monkey...This is an intelligent bloke here, intelligent enough to make a good video...who sells his own holiday club product. He bought the product, what if it was everything it was sold to him ?? ) I know its not) but how can you be scammed if u put a deposit on an item and then cancel?? You are missing the point..a bit like benjamin1D

  • It is a scam. I am 'asstounded' @ your pathetic comment. Should I come accross you or any of your club @ home or abroad I will investigate you like no bodies business.

  • OK monkey...This is an intelligent bloke here, intelligent enough to make a good video...who sells his own holiday club product. • You are talking to no one else but benjamin1d.

Look & listen to the clip again; your'l notice the so called customer is asked for an additional 8K.

    It's nothing short of bullshit.

  • Well done! Brilliantly put together warning video, very clear. Hopefully it will save a few people from the grief you went through.

Back in my youth it was lifetime membership in gym's that was the big scam I fell for. $1,000 I couldn't afford went into their pockets and within 3 months the luxury gym was boarded up.

    Keep up the good work.

  • the con i kame across was my husband won the holiday and i won a bottle of booze had a 2 hour talk zzz we didnt buy thay look for english couples maried.thanks for posting keep up the good work REPS MUST WARN HJOLIDAY MAKERS THOUGH

  • I just assume "everything is a "scam"

  • Great video, wished I had seen it before we went to Palma. Never heard of these scratch card scams before. Luckily after 80mins in their office listening to how wonderful this club is and how we can have a 5star holiday for the price of 3star etc, thank god we decided it was time to leave before we got brainwashed.

So be warned these people are out and about on the streets of Palma, pretending to be connected to the Majorcan tourist board and their office is next to the embassy.

  • Wow. This video is entertaining, educational and serves a perfect warning for tourists. Absolutly Brilliant, 5 stars!

    Thanks for the heads up

  • Terrible story, I feel for people who get scamed like this, they always prey on the weak and dumb of society. To be honest I think people like the person who made this video should be escorted abroad by social workers or dare I say minders then they are protected from the con men.

  • this happened to me my parents got sucked into it and i hadto go on got put in a shitty room :S but we got a free bottle of wine and chocolates at the end of it

best thing too do is to go there spend 1 hour there say you will think about it get your free prize and go home

  • Its amazing, these scumbags basically take advantage of people's good nature, they use all sorts of cod psychology to try to play on people. What we do is (if its a female) - tell them we already have our own villa and ask if she is open to new experiences, or , if its a male, pretty much tell him (politely) to F off,if he doesnt just start shouting loudly for guardia civil or get in his face.YOU ARE NOT OBLIGED TO DO ANYTHING EITHER WITH OR FOR THESE ASSHOLES, TELL THEM TO GO AWAY NICELY OR NOT

  • not new... i am only 25 and have been to the normal european destinations and must have "won" over 10 times... You can tell its a scam from the start....

Some times you can get things out of them first such as free tickets to see X if you go with them.

  • Very enjoyable video. What are the flickers in the background caused by?

Anyway, at 04:47 I was shouting "WHY?" when you said "I agreed to pay 1000EUR".

Always go home and think for a day before paying large sums.

  • Hey guys, just a heads up... the comapny in this video is trading again, so if your off to Mallorca this year expect more of the same.

  • The sad thing is that many people don't pay any attention to these scams until it actually happens to them. But then again I think that people can learn from that experience more than people simply advising them.

  • I think the world would be in a much better place if everyone stopped signing up for a club to get a good deal. I think that individuals should be, well, individuals. I've heard of many simular horror stories such as yours.

  • Very good of you to warn folks about this. I'm in the holiday club business as well, but my team has no need to overcharge or hype a vacation package. In fact, some timeshare resorts dislike us for that very reason.

  • This same thing happened to me and my family at tenirife it ruined our holiday

  • Well done there! my awareness has now increased.

  • i think yur graphic card on your console or pc is overheated.

  • yea ive been around the world ((;

  • Whats that supposed to mean , VWP are murderers too? Wouldnt suprise me. Interesting that an ex-VWP person openly acknowledges that it is a scam.

  • Sorry to hear about this, did you ever get your money back?

  • My wife and I went on a cruise to St. Marrtin a couple eyars ago. There was a guy who approached us with scratch cards and a pitch for a "Barefoot Curise". My wife got the "winning" card, the guy got all excited and said he never saw one of those before lol. We went and listened to the pitch to find out it was for time shares. It was a sham and we walked out after 45 min of wasted vacation time. others who listed to the whole speil said it was three hours.

  • Thats what annoys me, when they act like no one has ever won before, when they know full well that every 2nd card is a winner. What a load of crooks!

  • Indeed. We met back up with the dude with the scratch cards and he asked us what "prize" we chose. I told him it was a sham and we walked out. His face dropped to his feet and all he was worried about then was his commission. He asked us how long we listened because if we left before 30 minutes he wouldn't get paid...lol! This is fraud pure and simple and one would think a vacation destination would want to protect tourists from these predators.

  • its not a scam at absolute koh samu!

  • I just wound have never trusted someone off the street!!!!!

  • I think you need a new video card or you need to update your drivers.

  • Or stop to overclock ;)

  • Great video, well done.

I've been to several presentations with my wife but we just go for the gifts and never buy. People need to be wise enough to have their minds made up not to buy before they attend one of these manipulative presentations.

  • Was the free gift worth it, in the end? I hear that often the free holidays end up costing about £200, plus you have to attend a whole day high pressure presentation , otherwise you have to pay for ALL expenses! Sounds a bit risky to me...

  • We have never used one of the free holiday gifts as the conditions are too limited in my opinion. You have to pay a refundable deposit and pick three weekends and the small prints says they cannot always guarantee any of the weekends you pick. Therefore I don't use the trip prizes. We use the prizes we can use right away. In Gatlinburg, Tennessee we got 3 Aquarium tickets and a $100 petrol (gas) card. In Las Vegas we got two tickets to dinner and a show.

  • that was cool. The animations gave a nice touch.

  • It nearly happened to me in Tenerife back in 2003. Luckily i took notice of the warning signs and told them i couldn't find my credit card after they had hired a taxi to my hotel.

  • Very well done. Had a similar experiance in Malaga, approached on the street and driven to an appartment block. As we were not going to sign anything that day we were left to make our own way back not really sure where we were. We never got the free holiday either!

  • good stuff thanks

  • We were hooked too. sold a useless week TOLD could use any week in down season; more lies; on 'free' week sold RCI points to upgrade to usable;low rate loan was second mortgage did not want; lost grand deposit. Why don't holiday reps give out warnings? OFT is now doing so. thanks for making video; hope it spreads the word. DON'T GO THERE.

  • I'm going through a similar delema right now. RCI points, $5,295 for 34,500 points every other year for the rest of your life. Average vacation is about 20,000 points, plus a week booked at ski resort. I agreed, paid an up front fee, than came the membership agreement $423 every other year. 3 page document with many disclaimers, so I backed out. Three days later, they charged my credit card anyway, now trying to cancel, but I still can't decidee if it a "good deal" or not.

  • Is that Sunterra or Royal Holiday? If it is avoid like the plague, they are even worse.

  • I do own a Royal Holiday membership, at first it was hard to understand the program but after a while i been very pleased with what i got, I been on thailand, Austria, Nassau, I joined @ the Ixtapa méxico sales office. the salesman who sold me this is Victor Hugo Moreno, contact him if you have problems with your membership, he cares more for his costumers rather than his comission, that´s why i joined with him.

  • if that is ure wife shes got some sweet ass tits

  • He's referring to "VWP" not "GCR"

  • was there 2 women one a older blonde one and a younger brunete both with cockney accents, they gave me the same scratchcard it said i had won 500 euros but i never got in the taxi and she called me a f***** d***h*** to my amusement as there was guardia civil 20 yards away who took took her scratch cards.

  • Haha thanks for posting that experience. Funny how nasty these "nice, friendly" survey people turn when they are rumbled.

  • i have recently started workin for a holiday club called LCI travel wich as for as i knew it was lajit till my 1st day not only were they offerin free euroean holiday but they were ringin ppl out of a phone book an say tht they had bin selected by LCI to win aholiday then wen u ask them 4 questioins

are u marid or livin with a partner?

  • Some people are just so gullible. :)

  • If you want to share your experience, the timesharetalk website is a good place to do so. It is full of people who have been ripped off, and people who enjoy their timeshares. A good meeting place to discuss this sort of con.

  • And as I say in the end of my video, in theory holiday clubs are a good idea, but beware of those that mislead you into attending with the lure of non existant prizes, dont give cooling off periods and that make you sign the contract then and there. If the product really did stand on its own they wouldnt use such dirty tricks.

  • Surprising how many timeshare (inc. holiday club) salesmen are coming out of the woodwork to defend their dodgy trade...!

  • I think you will find it IS a scam according to both the Office of Fair Trading and the European Consumer Centre, whose advice I clearly show in the opening. "ALL holiday clubs rip people off, you WILL loose money". Their words, not mine. Also the OFT rightly describes all holiday clubs using tactics that I have demonstrated as "bogus holiday clubs". Again, these are their words, not mine.

  • it could have just as easily been a scam. i still get useless magazines sent to me almost two years later.

  • as i watched this i thought to myself "how could anyone fall for this." then i remembered my 2nd year of college and how i gave some company my credit card number over the phone because they promised me a watch with a diamond in it and a chance to win $100,000 if i just subscribed to their magazine thing. i kept getting switched between different people who talked so fast i couldnt understand what they were saying. thankfully they were actually legit, but i never got that watch.

  • i live here in tenerife ..and after watching this earlier in the day i went to torviscas got stopped so many times then i just sat and watched these opc .what a bunch of .......

  • This is SO true! By the way it is ALWAYS the wife who "wins" the start prize. Once you get used to a resort you can smell out where the touts hang out. This can help because they will only go for couples and one trick is for you and your partner to walk apart for a few yards (say three or four metres) and they probably won't sus you out as a couple, then leave you alone.

  • not everyone that works for these companies are scum bags as you call it but good sales man and a lot of people that go for the prizes is because of greed ..And by the way everyone that gets the holiday love them when they go on them i admit yes there are one or two that might not but all the big names are legitimet and the customer get what they pay for

  • It is surprising how timeshare OPC's and salesmen distance themselves from their actions. If you had a good product it would stand on it's own, you would not need to con people with dodgy scratch cards...

  • No irony here. I'm very up front on my blog, in my post, and in my user id. Timeshare and holiday clubs charge more than they have to, and use high pressure sales techniques to close any who would resist. My "MLM vacation/holiday club company" doesn't cost forever, and we don't coerce consumers into buying something they don't need or want. Thanks for the reply.

  • Excellent info. I posted my experience to a Fairfield Resorts time share presentation in the Washington, DC. I'm posting your video as well. We need this.

  • We've also met the touts, had the prize scratch card, and gone in for several hours of brainwashing. Ours was for timeshare resales rather than a holiday club though, and we were lucky in that we got our deposit back when we found we'd been lied to.

Great video! They should show this as the in-flight movie on the way out there!

  • Good of you to warn people and Thanks for the Email Paul.
