Katas are cultural treasures. Their bastardization for choreographic purposes is unforgivable. this has very little to do with real martial arts and is nonsense from a traditional point of view. The girl, though, has no fault and need to be commended for her performance and her spirit.

Sorry but this video sucked, black belts should not be given to little kids just because they know a kata, and some basic technique. Personally I would have called this "take a dump style". It was horrible, I am so sick of black belts being just given out. They have got to be earned.

@Djcrazykidd If you didn't notice "XMA" for eXtreme Martial Arts. It's more or less pure showmanship martial arts. I remember when I first saw someone perform I was like "Holy god she's going to rip my head off" But they train mostly for show, with acrobatics, insane screaming, musical choreography, flashy speed and the stuff that makes excellent movie and picture material. But there is basis for usefulness with all that incredible flexibility and coordination :)

How do you make such conclusions or think she cannot fight? Funny how the "adults" hating on her likely never won a championship, yet she already holds numerous titles. When i was her age we couldn't rank up until we proved ourselves. For the B.B. we broke the same number of boards, sparred the same number of ppl, & performed hyeongs to the same standard as adults. At tourneys she competes w/ guys- she holds her own. This was just a form, performing FOR judges to win. Calm the egos.

It's literally like a child fighting their dad. Being able to fight boys, do bodyweight exercises, or break boards as a child or pre-teen doesn't make you worthy of a black belt.

@xx1simon1xx karate has like different skills . This looks like a kata, which is a sequence of movements, sparring is comp[letely different . Kata is still a skill and takes alot of practice to become ammaculate. You can teach someone to fight people straight away, you must use proper technique or else theyll prbably hurt THEMSELVES

Watch his competition in 2004 Taylor Lautner - 2004 Compete Nationals - Traditional weapons. Dayna used to train with him; they used to belong to the same team of XMA extreme martial arts too.It's beautiful and graceful to do your forms very quiet (without doing the Ki-Hap yell) too, the way the Korean styles do.
