    /watch?v=ro3wGUTTi1Y

Thanks for the video, reverend, but this one helped me more!

  • Everything worked fine until I put in the "novacom boot mem:// < ACMEInstaller2" code, nothing happens in CMD or on my TouchPad! Everything else worked fine until this point :(

  • @IVIax94 its semicolon not colon ;-) mem;//

  • After I enter the "novacom boot mem:// < ACMEInstaller2" command into CMD, nothing happens. Everything worked fine until this point. Help?

  • double penguin >3<

  • i cant get the acmeiinstaller 2 in sip mode :S how to fix this ? everything els is working as it should seens i got cm 7 atm pls help ! the bootie is there when i write the novacom boot mem:// < acmeiinstaller2 it says cant find the file :S PLS help

  • CM have done a great job on 0.6. Only problems I have are no HD Video,no MIC nd can't get Wireless N. Great vid thanks.

  • i've been trying to find a 1.8ghz or 1.9ghz kernel for hp touchpad running ics alpha 0.6 my webos 3.0.5 is running 1.8ghz but android cm9 only 1.7ghz i need to bump that up where can i find a better kernel

  • Rev. I installed CM9 on my TP but it has been over 2 hours and the screensaver when CM 9 starts is still going on.. Can't figure it out what I did wrong... Thnx

  • i like your video and all but when i did what you did on the idiots guide and just replace the 3 files. i typed all the goodies in the command prompt and now whenever i boot cyanogen mod it just freezes at the loading screen and nithing happens. could you go into more detail of what files to put in my device and where? thanks

  • I love how the first boot of Cyanogen is still faster than any boot of WEBos lol

  • @MrEnikfox That's because webOS has to connect to your cloud profile update your data and then update your Synergy data before upon each fresh boot. this is unless you're doing a Luna restart.

  • Hi, I followed instructions and when I select Cyanogenmod, it keeps going back to the moboot 0.3.5. What did I do wrong?

  • it has now mericulously fixed it self.

    ps ur awsome!!!!!!

  • escuse me sir,

i have cm 9 and everytime i put it into sleep mode (push the power button) , it goes into a black screen and i cant wake it up. could you help me? i have a touchpad 3.0.5

  • Reverend...on CMD...novacom boot mem:// < ACMEInstaller2...I get message ''unable to find device'. help pls

  • @yvanho01 You probably don't have the novacom drivers installed correctly.

  • @reverendkjr I have the same novacom driver i used for cm7

  • @reverendkjr i used novacom from cm7....i also downloaded it again and same result

  • @yvanho01 Remove novacom drivers as well as any Palm or WebOS SDK from your Control Panel, then reinstall the novacom drivers. Also, make sure that your Touchpad is in recovery mode.

  • @reverendkjr Reverend Thanks once again I followed your instructions and I got ICS now..but I think Gapps did not work correctly since i dont see market, youtube, gmail, etc on apps..any suggestion

  • @yvanho01 UPDATE...Rev. I downloaded GAPPS directly to TP rebooted to clockworkmode added file from Zip card...now I have Market, Gmail etc

  • Hi, can you teach me how to change the LCD density from 160 to 120 or vice versa ? Thanks

  • @laplapmax There are DPI changers on the market. Use one of those.

  • When are they going to fix netflix, and the hd problems

  • What happened to TWRP? You said in another video you'd never go back to clockwork mod. Did you find something wrong with it? Cuz i'm still using it.

  • hey kyle Im currently using the old android alpha on my hp touchpad and i just followed your video step by step. but when im in C:\Programs Files\Palm, Inc>novacom boot mem:// < ACMEInstaller2 after I pressed enter it ask me for password required.

I am currently using a Macbook pro running Parallels with Windows XP. all novacoms is installed everything was perfect up till that. any suggestion ??

  • hey rev can you please make a video tutorial on how to install the latest alpha update via clockwordmod???.... please please...help us all out rev...and thanks for all the great videos...keep up the good work.

  • I guess it's better to wait for a future update on this? I really want Netflix and Youtube player to be working right :/

  • reverendkjr, in your opinion what version of android would you say works best on the hp touchpad?

  • @Sgnwarren I am running CM9, but my wife is running CM7. I think its a matter of personal preference.

  • Rev thanks for the great video...So I have a problem, I did the install on 2 of my touchpads, and for some reason 1 of them worked for a couple days and is now completely frozen, on the screen is an exclamation mark with the android figure next to it. I cant shut it down or boot anything up. Any ideas what to do? The other one is running fine

  • @sjinnah786 That sounds like a problem for the forums. I would go to rootzwiki. com and check for a solution there. I have not heard of that one before.

  • @sjinnah786 Reflash your touchpad with webdoctor, just type in hp touchpad webdoctor vid on youtube, and someone made a vid on it. it works

  • everytime im at the cmd novacom boot mem:// <ACMEInstaller i pressed enter and it said "failed to connect to server", im not sure how to fix this

  • @TDARazor Try cd and not cmd

  • Comment removed

  • Hey Rev, is netflix working yet on the CM9?

  • @RicardoRengifoJr Not yet, but soon.

  • First, i want to thank you for this tutorial, and i have a question about the New ICS gapps file - after following this tutorial, do i have to boot into Clockworkmod and install the ICS gapps?

  • First thanks for the video, I was able to flash one touchpad properly but the other ones is having issues. That issue you have at 6:50 keeps happening to me, it keeps looping over and over. I did all the factory wipes, I tried to re-novaom it, nothing seems to work. I can still boot into webOS no problem, anything you can do to help would be great!

  • @getsomesean You may benefit from uninstalling completely and then trying the install again.

  • @reverendkjr I was able to get it to work, by clearing all the caches, factory resets, etc, and then I re-flashed just the latest alpha via clockworkmod and that did it, for future reference how do you completely uninstall it, I couldn't find ACMEUninstaller although I see it referenced.

  • Thanks very much for the tutorial! Worked a treat!

  • Excellent tutorial. The only thing I had to change was the command for running ACMEInstaller2. The "novacom boot mem:// < ACMEInstaller2" command resulted in a failed to connect to server error. I changed the command to "novacom.exe boot mem:// < ACMEInstaller2" and it ran successfully. I had not previously had CM7

  • not sure if u had mentioned this or not, but i had previously installed android using the previous version, but it did not include market place...is there any additional file id need to download and put into the device in order for market place to work. or is everything already installed and ready to operate..thanks for the time

  • @KINGFISHCUSTOMS You need to have the gapps installed to get the market. There is a link to the gapps file in the video description.

  • @reverendkjr okay great thanks..i hope this install looks better than the cynaogenmod 7.1 i had done...i seen i needed add the market place but when i attempted to do it with that mod it didnt seem to work..only reason i want android on the touchpad is so i can get the seatgate app that lets you wifi connect seagates 500gb wifi hard drive so i can play movies on it using that storage device...wish seagate just would support webos on it. otherwise my touchpad was overclock to 1.7ghz

  • How do you unlock the bootloader or just show a review of installing from WebOS and partitioning etc..

  • @madzane94 Unlock the bootloader? This isn't a Motorola phone, there is no lock on the bootloader. Also, I have several videos showing full explanations of installs of various versions. Please check my channel.

  • I attempted deleting the caches and now im stuck with ICS attempting to start like an endless colorful boot loop

  • I have a quick question not sure if it has been answered or not but after the initial start up screen and before I can unlock the screen I get a pop up that says Unfortunately, the process com.android.phone has stopped. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks in advance

  • hey reverend please respond to this!!! I followed every direction, I went through double penguin mode succesfully and loaded through the colorful wavey rectangles. However, after it loads, instead of going to the android setup, it says: "system ui has stopped, setup wizard has stop working.." do you know why this could have happened and what I can do to fix it? Also, the phrase "boot ICS" doesn't appear in the reboot screen..

  • @FIFIMANSOUP It sounds like you have to boot into Clockwork Recovery and do a Factory Reset. Be aware, that this will ERASE ALL YOUR DATA, but may be the only way to fix this. Also, Boot ICS is not needed. Chose Cyanogenmod. The only reason ICS was on my moboot screen was because I had Evervolv ICS installed as well and never deleted it. Installing CM9 does NOT add Boot ICS to your moboot menu.

  • @reverendkjr thank you so much for the reply!! I'll try that right now, hopefully it works..!

  • @reverendkjr ok revernd, so... I did the factory reset and it loads through the wavy rainbow rectangles and it still says, "Unfortunately, System UI has stopped." then another box appears and says, "Unfortunately, setup wizard has stopped.." Is it a problem if I never downloaded CM7? I just bought this touchpad and went straight to downloading CM9... should I have downloaded CM7 first?

  • @reverendkjr PLEASE ANSWER THIS!! revrend, you answered my comment about an hour ago but right now I AM DESPERATE... I think I just broke my touchpad trying to erase all the data. I acidentally formatted and erased all data on the system and sd card instead of factory reseting it. now my touchpad is stuck in moboot and wont load web Os or cyanogen or anything. Im so scared I just wasted a crap load of money on nothing. is there anything you think I could do to restore it to the way I bought it?

  • @FIFIMANSOUP hey I have a question for you...did you ever fix ur problems?? And do u think I should install cm7 first and then cm9?

  • @TheDanny915 Cm9 works great for me, I had wi fi problems with cm7, but now my touchpad runs smooth. The only thing that does not work is netflix, and hd vids on youtube app. plus you must use the youtube app to watch vids, you cant go to youtube from the browser, the vids dont play.

  • @sevyn7up how did you fix your wifi.? have the same problem can you email me alansoccer9@msn.com please

  • ive tried 3 or 4 different gapps files starting with the one linked here, it didnt work during setup and i cant install them in cwm, it keeps saying cant open /sdcard/(name of gapps).zip (bad) installation aborted. help?

  • reverend, just letting you know that now there is alpha 0.6 updated. also in the main rootzwiki post there is a file called "lcd density rates", i am fairly sure this is to let you see more / less market apps.

  • you should walk new comers through on how to get too the step BEFORE using the command prompt instead of saying "you already have it in that mode". Some ppl dont know how to get there. Now i have to watch a different video

  • @dimpy06

He said at the beginning, if u haven't done it before, then check out his Idiots Guide 2.0 video and it'll explain stuff. He also then goes on to explain how to apply the Idiots Guide vid to the ISC update.

  • Hello. I am sorry if this is a stupid question, but I am stuck at the ACMEInstaller2 file. I have CM7 alpha 3.5 currently. I have the newest files on the TP for CM9 Alpha 0.5 & the GAPPS file. I am stuck at how to get the ACMEInstaller2 file as a zip file to open the Novacom file. I download the file from the site, but it isn't a zip file. Am I missing something? Sorry if this is stupid.

  • I have installed cm9 but everytime I touch the screen it draws lines. Not sure what I did to do this, but I cant get it out of this draw mode.

  • Hey, Thanks a lot for the video rev. I wasn't keeping up with this cyanogenmod stuff for the touchpad because frankly i was happy with webos, but I decided to try out ICS and I got it installed without any troubles at all thanks to you. I am impressed at how fast and smooth it runs though for alpha 0.5. Few glitches but I found ways of working around some stuff to make ICS my main platform.

  • the last part when it's suppose to switch to double penguin mode i keep getting "Failed to connect to server". where did i go wrong???

  • @tylisha024 yeah im getting that error too, did you sort it??

  • @chrislovescod That error indicates that the computer isn't talking correctly to the Touchpad. Either the drivers aren't loaded correctly, or the USB connection is flakey. Try reinstalling the drivers, check Device Manager for Novacom Bootie, and if that still doesn't work, try a different USB cable, or different USB port.

  • @reverendkjr Hi thanks for replying, Novacom Bootie was showing in device manager and have managed to do CM7 before no probs. Managed to install CM9 using clockwork recovery. Thanks for your videos, i find them very helpful, keep up the good work.

  • @chrislovescod nop.. failed to sort it out.... but if you do let me know :)

  • im stuck at the setup wizard everytime I touch the droid it says the setup wizard has stopped ive already wiped everything several times any advice? its the new alpha .5 build

  • as usual, thanx a mill rev, i followed your instructions & voila! ICS on my touchpad, one thing though, i didn't wipe my CM7 cache or any of the other stuff and ICS just upgraded me & i still have all my installed apps that i had b4, sweet.

  • Thank you soo much dude!!!

  • I forgot you had to be in USB MODE BUT NOT FROM COMPUTER!! Restart and then press power and volume up. Then you are in USB MODE that you need! Thanks. Watched one of your older videos! :)

  • when I first typed in novacom boot..... it said The system cannot find the file specified but it shows all documents that you have in your video

  • some reason when I type in...novacom boot mem:// < ACMEInstaller2 it doesn't do anything!? any suggestion?

  • Hey, ive got the cm9 running on the touchpad, works great. but how do i connect cm9 to my computer for file transfer like pictures and stuff, just like how webos had the usbdrive mode?

    appreciate your help.

  • @saadsajjad86 I have been wondering that. When I tried to connect it as USB, my computer didn't recognize it. Thankfully, a Google search found someone on the Cyanogenmod forum who mentioned "AIRDROID"!! Get it! It's free! You have to have your touch pad and computer on the same wireless network. Airdroid will give you a web address to type into your computer, then you will enter the 4 letter/number password it gives you..onto your computer. And, VOILA! You're adding/changing files over the air!

  • also, does ACMEinstaller 2 need to be a zip file? the first Acme was a zip file,

  • @SugarBabyONeal No. You ultimately want an unzipped ACMEInstaller2 file.

  • @reverendkjr -- thanks Rev. what i ended doing was uninstalling CM7 anyway because i wanted WebOS 3.0.5. I know i didn't have to do that but wanted to start clean. I then took them same steps as if installing CM7 but replaced the CM7 zip files with the CM9 files. Uploaded fine. Obviously lost any progress in games and what not. Yes, a long way to get to the same end but ICS works fine now. Now as far as the build prop for Gameloft games, what Model/Brand are you using?

  • @reverendkjr -- Hey Rev. would you have any thoughts into why ADWLauncher and GO Launcher are not compatible with CM9 but LauncherPro is? I have not tried ADW Launcher EX since it's a paid for app that i have no idea if it will work.

  • @SugarBabyONeal

Have upgraded but cannot connect to my WIFI, password is correct.

Any one had any similar issues and can help?

  • Ok, i'm getting pissed. Did this exactly as you said. Everything loads fine in double penguin, wiped everything, boot into Android annnnnnnnd CM7 boots up. what am i missing? does moboot or clockwork mod have to be in the cminstall folder also just like when adding CM7?

  • @SugarBabyONeal Make sure you have the correct files in the cminstall folder, AND that they are named correctly. No parentheses!

  • Eveything seemed to be working fine while following your vids but when ics starts up i get the error "nfc service has stopped.." i read this was due to a bad gapps file, but i only downloaded the one from your link in here. anyone got any ideas what to do ?

  • wipe data means it will delete all the data and apps on my android cm7?

  • @evignesh1985 Yes.

  • Nevermind I got it

  • Rev thanks for the easy instructions. I have ICS now. Is there a fix for Netflix and YouTube HD vids. they are not working. I can hear the sound on Netflix and YouTube HD vids don't load.

  • @rchhano Not yet. I'm sure they are working on it.

  • Could someone who has the ACMEInstaller2 file upload it to a file sharing website. I have winrar but I get an error message every time I try to extract the files from the ACMEInstaller2 zip

  • do you know why when i go to command prompt on the last step it says its unable to find device??

  • @lambdaman4 Then one of the steps isn't right. Your computer isn't seeing your touchpad. Go watch my Idiots Guide 2.0 video.

  • why is there 2 mirrors to download? are they they same file? are you adding both or just one to your palm inc folder? please let me know. thanks. and thanks for you awesome help :)

  • @lambdaman4 Just pick one. You only need one.

  • Thank you sir... you make me happy.

  • Does the Bluetooth mouse still work with ics. Need to know before I buy one

  • @jonh1171995 I haven't tried it yet, but I would imagine so. The CM Devs didn't change much in that area from CM7.

  • @reverendjr I can't seem to install AcmeInstaller2 properly. I download it from the proper link but it doesnt save as zip and its an unrecognizable file in my documents. So i cant unzip it... Any clues on how to save it properly? all other files i've downloaded are fine. Thanks alot for your work!

  • Hello kyle..i have watched your videos all along these years...im very thankful..and i recently had a problem..i put ics on my hp touchpad and it worked fine but the i tried to put in on another hp tp..and the tp shuts down..it keep shutting down..can u help me out please?? Ics is already installed but when i use it..it restarts.

  • thanks for your videos,, they are very helpful ..

  • help...i just installed ics on my touchpad and i can't connect to my pc because the drivers for MTP...please help.

  • it was way more simple (found it out myself, but almost to emberrased to admit it). Simply toggle with the volume button. Works a-okey now

  • Thanx man, works great. Worked my way thru the idiots guide first (thx for the hilarious piece on the cminstall folder, it made my day). Strugled a bit because I didnt unpack the ACMEInstaller correctly, but after that it was a piece of a cake.

Great experience sofar. One little bug, moboot seems not to work, I cant select webOS & the TP starts automacally in ICS.

  • Great Video. Your first idiots guide on CM7 got me brave enough to try it. Only wish those few steps you glossed over in the middle would have been included so I didn't have to go back and watch the 30 minute 2.0 guide to figure it out. Thanks.

  • @reverendkj Everything looks fine on mine except that when it boots into CyanogenMod, it does not goes to the walk through to set up wireless, etc. It goes directly to the main screen. Question: how do I install apps from the market? Thx man.

  • Do you have uninstall CM7 before putting ICS on it? Also should the build.prop be changed again when trying to use Gameloft games?

  • @SugarBabyONeal You don't have to uninstall CM7. Just USB connect your touch pad and replace the old gapps and CM7 with the new ones and install like you did the first time. Also, you add the ACMEInstaller2 to the Palm, Inc folder. Oh, well that's in this video, lol.

About Game loft games... I noticed they wouldn't play. What is this build.prop you speak of?

  • @BarbieBillionaire -- Rev. Kyle has a video about the build prop. That's where i learned about it. Basically you are just "changing" the Touchpad to another Android device by simply re-naming it. I have changed mine to a Nexus S. It's very simple but do exactly what his video tells you to do. I have Modern Combat 3 on the Touchpad plays no problem after changing the build prop.

  • @SugarBabyONeal Dang. Did a search and found that the rev has a video for that too. Now, I got the game, but no sound. Gonna ask him under that video. Thanks

  • @SugarBabyONeal I meant, I have sound for game loft games, but no video game. Lol! Let me stop filling up your inbox! Sorry!

  • Does anyone know how to activate the USB connection?? I think I saw a video about this, but I can't seem to find it. Any help. Thanks

    Your the boss, Rev!!!!!!!!

  • So I managed to successfully install following your guide. But on my first boot, I was not asked to set up the Android like it does in your video. I was straight taken to the home screen. In addition, the google apps were not installed. When i connected the touchpad with USB cable, the drivers failed to install. So I am not able to put in the g-apps file in order to install them. DO you have any suggestions?

  • @rubinnify Nevermind, I managed to get google apps. I used the file that you show in this video, but I am reading about something called GAPPS Fix. Do I need to apply this fix if I use the file that you show in this video? Thank you very much for your guide. well done.

  • i cant the pal folder in my program files! halp!

  • @fukuneka2 PALM

  • acme not working for download is there another way to get it

  • uhm, i ve tried to go to the links for downloading, it wont bring up the download page for acme 2 from rootwiki. i've followed your guides for cm7 they are all great guides thanks

  • Thank you, the video was so easy to follow and flash the touchpad.

  • Excellent video. Extremely easy to follow. Had my CM7 Xron upgraded in less than 10 minutes. ICS worked very well for an alpha release. Can't wait for the next upgrade. Thank for the video. Well done.

  • Hmm.. I am installing it on someone else's and I notice it says "flushing cashes". So, looks like there's no need to do that separately.

  • someone help me. I have no idea how to do this since i havent updated in months. I still have the old CM7 on it though :/

  • @malik1 Rewatch the Xron video will clear up everything.

  • @malik1 Super simple. Watch his 10 minute idiot guide video, first, and that should put you on the right track. Search for CM7 Idiots Guide.

  • I do enjoy this quite a bit because it means we have more choices of apps and such, but the one thing that I could truly go for is a mod that allows webOS to play internet flash games such as pogo.com and also to at least allow webOS to view netflix via a web browser so we don't have to worry about them making an app

  • Rev Kyle,

How did you determine what GAPPS to use? There are several versions floating about the web. The one you used, I haven't seen talked about much.

    CM9 is truly awesome!

Keep up the good Vid work.

  • Netflix isn't displaying video, but I can hear it... Any clues?

  • @HELLBOUNDANDDOWN hardware acceleration is not supported yet with this alpha. no NetFlix :-( Also you cannot view YouTube in HD. Other HD playback is also afftected.

  • Comment removed

  • @reverendjr I did everything properly, but when I go to install ACMEinstaller2, it says "failed to connect to server"

  • Ok. Some vids are better than none. FAB software!!!!!1

  • Got it!! My apps and market are intact! Thanks!!! :.)

I will think about this>>>>"Charger and SystemUI force close fix for alpha0:

Flash with CWM after installing Alpha0:" later...

  • @BarbieBillionaire I feel the charger and SystemUI fix is a must... better recharge time and no FC for turning the notifications off.

  • Hey Rev, I have the CM7 on my touchpad(saved me 835 from buying a new tablet) after following your instructions. I would like your opinion if you think Netflix will be accessible soon on CM9?

  • @RicardoRengifoJr If you decide to get it now, just use crackle.com for free, full length movies. They do, however, have a few super-short commercials in between.

  • @RicardoRengifoJr Oops. Crackle isn't working on here, either. Someone on here has a vid of them playing videos. Somehow, somewhere... I've been going through some CM9 HP Touchpad vids on here
