The Offspring are awesome, so stoked they're FINALLY making a comeback!!!!!!! Check out a pop/rock/reggae band from Vancouver BC. Search for "Brandon Paris Band + Say Goodbye + Much Music"
mate, good attempt, keep practising, but he is doing more work in the real song on the hi hat, its all 8thnotes, your playing 4, most punk rock is fasr 8 notes on the hihat. keep it up mate
if you listen to the song, the hats just playing quaters along with the snare. then it switches to 8th notes when he goes to the ride, exactly how he's covering it.
The 16th notes on the hats are actually easier. Hopefully I'll put up a clearer video of the song played perfectly with the 16th notes only. Nope, not Brazilian. Indian. I love tempo. haha
hey, do u play 2 times the cymbal and 1 snare drum in one of the cymbals? Im asking because it doesnt look like you play like that...the correct way! haha no offense! u're a good drum player!
You're right, I realised that afterwards. I hadn't paid attention to the drumming of the the song too well before I went ahead and recorded it. So yes, my hi-hats, for the verses atleast, is half the tempo they should be at. However, if you notice, this half-speed punk beat on the hats is actually hard to play and maintain in tune...atleast that's what I feel. Thanks though!
Hey, if you ever come around to recording another Offspring song on drums, let me know and I'll add some guitar-work. But it should be a clean drum-only track ;)
The original intent was to record the song with the real drums kept in. However, since my Logitech webcam makes my kit sound like kitchen utensils, all I was left with was a semi-decent video, minus the audio. I've given a description as to why this video's on. When I accumulate more capital, I'll buy some mics and put on a few new ones. Cool?
... i don't really see the point if i can't hear what you're playing (i bet a drummer don't need to hear to know if it's okay, but i'm a guitar player so ...)
The point and most important thing is that we hear u playing, but we are not.

i can totally understand muting your drum track, but that's NOT how you play a thrash beat.

Care to elaborate? Thrash? I thought this was quarter notes on a punk song?
aniguchisan 4 years ago
dude, can't hear the drums, but your tabs seem correct

There's absolutely no point in doing a cover when you can't hear your instrument

Yes, you're right. That was my bad. There's always something that goes wrong when I'm being recorded :)
