Amir Khusrow was an Afghan from the balkh region, he went to india and mixed hindi with dari made another language out of it whats called urdu, he was also the inventer of the tabla's, for nangamujra: i know its difficult to accept it but its the truth

dear brother, those singers who you name are all pop singers inclusive ahmad zaher that i have a great respect to. but ustad Saraheng was a master in classical music, and one of the greatest, so please show alittle respect to him, it will take a long time for Afghanistan to find someone who will be at least as good as Ustad.

Sherkheli313: you are severely mistaken if you think there is no language called Hindi. We Hindi speakers write in our script Devanagari but that doesn't mean that our language is Urdu. Hindi and Urdu are sister languages but are not the same. Urdu has arabic and persian with sanskrit grammatical rules where Hindi takes 99.9% of its loan words from Sanskrit. Ancient Persian and Sanskrit are sister languages. Hindustani is a language which consists of hindi and urdu.

Hindi as spoken in most parts of North India has considerable Persian loan words (even the Arabic loan words came through their usage in Persian). However I don't agree with the gentleman below that Hindi is nothing but Urdu written in Devnagari. You can turn around and say the same thing about Urdu - that it is Hindi written in Nastaliq :). And you're right - Ancient Persian and Sanskrit are sister languages, so I don't understand what this silly language fight is all about.

"Khoobsurat", -i can list several thousands- are used in hindi, and they're not sanskrit. Where did you see 99%Sanskrit? Mahabharat serials? That style=unexistant today. Hindi&Urdu=same, only their writing differs. I'm Indian, Hindu, I have Pak and Afhgani Muslim friends,I perfectly understand them when speak Urdu. Your Hindustani language definition is LOL.

Shishyupal, poetic urdu, poetic hindi, are not the same as spoken urdu and hindi. if you can't come to terms with that maybe you can attend some linguistics courses.  sorry buddy but shayari and kavita (sophistaced) are different. mushaira and kavi-sammelan can be very distinct if they want. if you want proof, then i'll supply you with a multitude of sources.

Hindi is absolutely not same as Urdu....what you see as hindi is actually urdu......Indian films are in urdu not in hindi..Hindi actually doesn't exist any more, only in your news bulletins.

those who are lost in the myth of hindi language should learn somthing about persian language! this is a pure urdu ghazal sung by a person whose mother-tangue is persian. there is no greater myth in the world than urdu language labled as Hindi!!! infact hindi is no language at all, but usage of different alphabet to write urdu it is just like writing urdu with english alphabets.
