  • this was my great uncle :)

  • yesterday in the background :)

  • i still have 2 books from slydini that im selling ...

  • I watch this at least 3 times a week, and I am constantly amazed by this.

  • 5.18 brushing tabaco off his trousers LOLOL

  • @whoolikesshortshorts you dont know what MISDIRECTION is... he brushing off the tobaco from his trousers when audiences have attention to the cigarette. dont be stupid

  • The timing, the misdirection... Everything fits so perfectly.. =DD

  • Ok so I see (kinda) how he made the paper disappear, but how did he make them "appear" in the box?

  • @mindfreakfan67 every time his hand goes all the way to the side his other hand goes to his lap picking up a paper ball he dropped before into his lap and he slips it into the box every time he sprinkles the "magic" from the box. Well thats my theory at least

  • @mindfreakfan67 Think about it...when are the only times you actually saw him put his hand in the box? You don't even remember he did, right? That's why they call him the master of misdirection....

  • his mis direction is crazy, i get lost half wae thru it lol.

  • Can anyone recall this particular peice of music? it fits with the performance so well...

  • @s170609 - Yesterday - by the Beatles

  • Outstanding effect. I learned to do this before videos/DVD's when the only thing available was the two book set. One with pictures and one with the description and methodology. Makes me appreciate it more.

  • wow:) Even dai vernon, THE professor looked up to him. Thats saying alot

    What a legend

  • beautiful...

  • Slydini... his name says it all

  • *SLAP*

  • He gives me chills....in a good way.

  • Don't miss with Tony

  • figured it out cuz i know the techniques, but jesus, this men is a trully master, he controls that guy in a way he cant see anything, but he thinks he never stop paying attention, master.

  • i love the look of the host at 3:30 before tony opens his fist - it's like, "yup, I missed it again"

  • I usally find a way to explain how tricks like this is done, but with this one I have no idea...

  • @arntsen89 well my friend i might be able to help... altho i have not been able to pick up anything from his first trick (which was truly amazing) his second trick i managed to spot... if you look at 5:08 you'll see that he puts his hand under the table for a brief second. it is only brief but it is enough time for a sleight of hands magician... now if you look at 5:13 you will see the white cigarette in between his right hand... what he does with the broken cigarette i have yet to find out

  • @arntsen89 remember that EVERY action done by a magician is done for a reason! thats part of the twist. it may look like casual body movement but it is all carefully planned out... as you will see from the second trick that i managed to spot... the same goes with the last trick with the cigarettes... he puts his hand below the table for BRIEF second, but with sleight of hands like his, its MORE than enough time... =) ... its very very clever...

  • I love you, The Great Slydini.

    I recall you forever.

  • @magicgon Tarbell is also legendary :)

  • 5:50 - 5:57

  • One of the best close-up routines I have ever seen. I have a magician friend who can do this very well. It is cool to see how Slydini does it. The best close up effect ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Yeah, he was a right old pro.

  • ow meu esse kra eh loko

  • the song is yesterday wow

  • This was from Dick Cavett's show in the late seventies. He was getting older by that point, so you have to excuse his performance being a bit rough... Slydini, however, was in top form ;)

  • master!@!!!!

  • I've watched Slydini quite a few times now... this is the first time I have got so much as an intimation of the technique behind the magic.

  • aunque uno sepa como se hace cuesta mucho hacerlo con la misma majestuosidad y fluidez

  • I don't believe there's ever been a better magician than Slydini. He makes all those huge theatrical tricks look clumsy and cheap. Truly masterful and amazing in every way.

  • No comparison between this master and that Clark guy. The art of close up slight of hand, like this, is amazing. what a master.

  • He isn't even a REAL MAGICIAN, magic was just his hobby, it's a shame he wasn't recognized until he was this old.

When I say Real Magician I just mean he wasn't pro.

  • He was totally pro...

  • Actually he never was, he never went pro, of course he was far above pro but never was. His dad was a magician and wanted him to take his trade, but he never really did.

  • From what I understand, his FATHER was the amateur magician. As an adult, he performed and taught magic for a living, toured the world and wrote books. What could be more pro than that?

  • If you want to know how the trick with the cigarette works, mail me, I will give you the video link with the solution.

  • Kaspall solution? its not a maths problem its magic, quit destroying the mystique for people.

  • he looks like a real magician with his charmefilled face!

  • how

  • this guy is amazing

  • I figured that out, i watched it 21 times and i think i know now. beatiful illusion!

  • I know! It took me close to that myself and I've been into magic for years.

    This guys a true master.

  • It's not in how it's done it's how he presents it. Remember that.

  • REALMENTE EL MAESTRO DE LA MISDIRECTION

    Thanks for this video

  • this is my great great uncle :)

  • kool

  • A true old school master...

  • Do you have any other clips from this show? As I recall when I saw this special as a kid he did a card trick card the "Helicopter". Could you find it and post it? He also did the coins thru the table. Thanks for this video posting!!!!!

  • thank you

  • Pure genius, a true legend.Very beatiful moves.

  • his birth name was Quintino Marucci, i believe.

  • I sorta like Quintino Marucci more then Slydini. Quintino sounds more classy haha. Whatever... great magician. Respect.

  • Yeah is originally from Italy. When his family moved to Boston, Massachusetts, he moved to Brazil. Because he loved Flamingo dancers. He eventually moved back to the United States. He is my great great uncle.

  • Really...I think he may be my great great great uncle too...WHo are you?

  • is your grandmother emily???

  • no, she is my mom...........!

  • ok my mom is jo so that makes you my cousin but which one ???

  • I am Chris...the youngest :) you must be Gail?

  • PPPPSSSSSTTT>>>look at his username

    haha family unite

    awesome magician.

  • I am inspired!

  • what happened to your account?

  • no he is from italy....his family moved to brazil when he was young

  • hes from brazil

  • 100% ITALIANO

  • I've read so much about Slydini's work and character but this is the first I've ever seen. He's a master for sure, any card stuff?

Is he Italian then or is it all an act?

  • totally italian

  • So amazing. I can see when he puts the ball into the box, but I can't see how the vanish is done.

  • buy it....

  • What a master...

  • Al ver estas cosas es cuando uno se da cuenta que es un simple pendejo en la magia!

  • i know how he does the tricks, but still... i love watching him... he's so good, he's the master.. i could watch this over and over just admiring the moves =)

  • Fantastic! Thank you. We didn't get the Cavett show here in Oz, so seeing this is living a dream. Thanks again.

  • Slydini was and still is one of my heroes in magic. Seeing this video brought me back to a time when performance skill was something you gained through reading books, practice and lessons from the masters like Tony, not from replicating moves and lines from DVD's. As good as he looks on the video clips, he was so much better in person. Thanks for posting this. Bob

  • Thank you for posting this! I love it!

  • Thanks VERY MUCH for posting this! :)

  • A true master at work!
