im sorry but this movie is not a masterpiece. there's a reason why there's mostly only decent reviews for this movie. And I bet that if the animation wasn't so impressive, it would get lower. This movie just looked pretty. its a boring movie overall and user reviews so far seem to agree. also, 5cm per second has better animation imo. this movie still was very beautiful but lots of things were static and not as much movement in the background compared to 5cm.

@phantastic91 just watched it and i liked! about the song i prefer 5 cm per second, about the story you cannot even compare but i loved 5 cm per second story, about the images, the nature, the "monters", all that perfection, this movie kills everything. all the 2 hours of the movie my eyes were shining with the perfection and the beauty of thee views... amazing. both are great, are masterpieces. you cant say bad things about any of Makoto's works you just can say what you like more

2 things touched me deeply: She finally realized it was lonliness that drove her relentlessly to the other world that spelled death. It's lonliness that's haunting so many of us, isn't it? The ending song with subtitles in my language that enabled me to realize why it's 'hello goodby hello'. Ever thought of there are people that we know we cannot meet again in this life since the day we part?
