The RS Cosworths are the rally cars, the touring cars, the 4x4 or RWD cars - the ones with 2 litre turbos instead of 1.6 turbos, the ones that have the cosworth name to them, the ones that came with over 200 BHP instead of 133BHP - how the jesus fuck can you say cossies are slower? The power to weight of an RS is better, but they're not as tuneable, and standard, they are alot slower. And i own an RS turbo

RS Turbo is a 1,6l turbocharged FWD car. It was the first of the GTI's with limited slip differential but it's matched by Golf GTI. RS Cosworth is the homologation car for WRC. It takes cars like Celica Turbo 4WD and Lancia Delta HF Integrale to match the RS Cosworth.

M3 and RS Cosworth didn't fight on the same battlefields. M3 is a track car. Cosworth is a rally car. The M3 may own the Cosworth on a racing track but take them both to the gravel pit and the M3 gets owned big time.

Escort RS Cosworth was the WRC homologation car which makes it the closest you get to a road going racing car. The first batch was fitted with the large WRC turbocharger and the humongous rear wing. The latter models had a smaller turbocharger to prevent a bit of the turbo lag and the rear wing was optional.
