The difference is that the terrorists acted BECAUSE that's what they believed Allah wanted from them. We didn't enter Iraq BECAUSE we believed that's what God wanted from us, but after we did, we of course hoped that this was what God would want from us... as with anything! It wasn't "in the name of God." We should always pray that we're doing what God wants. Sarah Palin didn't come up with the policy (& was in fact quite critical of it) but she still hoped we were doing right by God.

@jdbohdan Well, regarding Sarah Palin specifically, she was critical of the way the Iraq war was handled, specifically regarding an exit strategy and what our true goal was (political vs. energy resources). So you could argue she wasn't "confident" in it.
However, just generally speaking we do need to pray we're doing what God wants in EVERYTHING, no matter how personally confident we are. Only the Lord is the judge of what the Lord wants - not us, despite our confidence level.

So I'll just say there's something incredibly powerful in knowing something greater than self, it invokes a kind of selflessness. And there's nothing wrong in being PROUD of that, as long as it isn't forced on others. The religious right (largely) doesn't do that. There are SOCIETAL reasons behind their positions on abortion & marriage, for example.

The difference is that the terrorists acted BECAUSE that's what they believed Allah wanted from them. We didn't enter Iraq BECAUSE we believed that's what God wanted from us, but after we did, we of course hoped that this was what God would want from us... as with anything! It wasn't "in the name of God." We should always pray that we're doing what God wants. Sarah Palin didn't come up with the policy (& was in fact quite critical of it) but she still hoped we were doing right by God.

@jdbohdan Well, regarding Sarah Palin specifically, she was critical of the way the Iraq war was handled, specifically regarding an exit strategy and what our true goal was (political vs. energy resources). So you could argue she wasn't "confident" in it.
However, just generally speaking we do need to pray we're doing what God wants in EVERYTHING, no matter how personally confident we are. Only the Lord is the judge of what the Lord wants - not us, despite our confidence level.

So I'll just say there's something incredibly powerful in knowing something greater than self, it invokes a kind of selflessness. And there's nothing wrong in being PROUD of that, as long as it isn't forced on others. The religious right (largely) doesn't do that. There are SOCIETAL reasons behind their positions on abortion & marriage, for example.

Gay marriage diminishes gender roles. There's enough sexual confusion in kids & that would contribute. Mother/father pairs should be encouraged because it gives a child perspective of both genders. Out of space but I can go on if you like.

America's been run by corporate crooks for the last eight years. That's evil, and it musn't be allowed to continue. The only moral choice is Obama. McCain kills people for money (Iraq etc) and Palin is of the same cloth and is just a convenience choice. Obama is a centre guy who cares about everybody.
America is viewed with disgust and distrust by foreign countries after Bush, particularly after his re-election. Change it and get back back in the world's good books, and vote for Obama.

Angie, YOU GOT IT. Why can't people see it? When we get our embassy's attacked, little acts of terrorism here and there, it's not really directed to US, but OUR LEADERS. We need these people out. They have always involved us in their greedy plans disregarding ours lives. They negotiated with Saddam, when a passenger plane was attacked inside Iranian waters, they didn't apologized for the mistake and the lives lost. I don't believe them anymore. She was not declaring that it was a task from God but that we should pray that we are in God's will. She is not saying that is is God's will to be at war with the world. In fact, in a recent interview she stated that she does not want war to be the first option. I've sen some videos leave out the "pray that it is" part and just repeat the part where she says "it is a task from God", but she is not claiming any power to start a holy war.

If you actually listen to what she says closely, you will here that she is actually asking the audience to PRAY that it is a task from god. She doesn't actually say it is a task from God. There is a very distinct and important difference. It's almost like saying "Let's hope it's a task from God." which is much less crazy. With that said, I still think shes a NutJob.

Wrong. The word "that" is very vague. She is clearly saying "pray for our soldiers". "They are on a task from God". Otherwise it's a mixed message. Think about it. "Pray for our soldiers". "Let's hope they are on a task from God" does not make sense. Think about it again. This is not a mixed message she is giving.
