Enter Coles supermarket (don't know what u guys have but something similar). Coles ruined the businesses and forced them to close by undercutting them even if it meant selling things at a loss. Granted, a handful of teenagers got a minimum wage job but now they have installed self serve checkouts and guess what, less teenagers required. I will continue

Enter Coles supermarket (don't know what u guys have but something similar). Coles ruined the businesses and forced them to close by undercutting them even if it meant selling things at a loss. Granted, a handful of teenagers got a minimum wage job but now they have installed self serve checkouts and guess what, less teenagers required. I will continue

Everything we can do at this point, all the manpower, all the boats, isn't enough. We already have wetlands destroyed, wildlife killed, oil appearing on beaches in spite of the barricades, and it's doing nothing but getting worse at the rate of hundreds of thousands of gallons every day. At the end of this day, if it ever ends, I fear the BP has destroyed the Gulf of Mexico. It may never recover. What's the price tag on that?.....
And yes, I live in Florida, where our beaches are next...

I think you would agree this is not a normal sized problem..and if NOTHING is done, how will the clean-up occur? Would YOU like to pay for it in taxes? @tifjoking : If this happened under Ike's watch, we wouldn't have to have submersible remotely operated robots because we wouldn't be drilling 5000 ft under the sea. However, I do concede that we need to see a little more FDR out of Obama. He needs to mobilize the civilian population as well as the military just like people mobilized during WW2 for the war effort. If the events of the past 2 years have taught us anything, it is that you can't rely on these bloated multinational corporations.

Mr. President you can't rely on BP to do the surface cleanup. You need to get people involved in the cleanup in any capacity possible. People are angry because they feel powerless, give them their pride back and empower them. Even if it is just shoveling oil soaked sand, at least they are doing something.

Would have been a much better video if he had cut out all of the human interest stories in the beginning. It rings "politiciany." Losing jobs is nothing new, everyone's been going through it. It's the environmental damage that kills me. The number of lives lost due to this spill will never be counted, but I'm sure the estimate will turn out to be staggering. His description of the response has made me feel a little better, but I'm sure there are better solutions they are missing.
