One of the reasons why so many people became Zutarians is that the creators weren't 100 percent sure at the time whether they were going for Kataang or Zutara...and then about halfway through Book 3 they went for the obvious Kataang (it was so canon) and realised they could keep audiences guessing by poking at Zutara the whole way through, so it was extra nice when the final kiss happened, almost a surprise.
PS I hope in LOK they do a couple of bonus ep with Kataang growing up and having kids

@Chprdhrv Actually, that's not true....the creators DID plan for Katara and Aang to be together from the beginning....if you do not believe me, then read the interview in at the end of the Sozin's Comet book. Sorry, but they DID plan for Katara to end up with Aang...they had planned the story all along.

While I absolutely love Aang and Katara together, I also love how awesome Toph is, and Sokka's boomerang, and Iroh's love of tea, and how complex all the characters are...yeah. The reason shipped Zutara was because - between their personalities and past - I felt that they had a sort of understanding of each other that I don't think Katara and Aang have.

All of Aang's struggles with having to let her go (or so he thought), and then the Avatar Roku's story about how he married the girl he had a crush on would have rendered it an unjust heartbreak... even for Mai that would have been unfair, not to mention Zuko probably wouldn't have even been allowed to marry Katara because though he may have brought peace, prejudice doesn't just going to say. "Kataang" is therefore the most logical.

However, he was 113 and she 15 by the end of the show, and while a difference of two years may be a Freshman and a 7th grader, around the time one might assume they would wed (perhaps once he reached 116, although it would be more likely for him to be slightly older as he would probably have to train more), the two year gap becomes much less significant.

@TheLostSoulaod Perhaps it's simply because I'm someone who always has the end goal in mind, but even though in the show they are young pre/teens, the creators of the show still enabled them as normal human beings, so in the end... give both Aang and Katara a few years to grow up and hone their skills (and he'd have Katara as his girlfriend in the time being, likely), then wham-bam, they're adults and the perfect couple. But you're right that as of now, he is at least somewhat immature.

alright while i loved that aang beat the fire lord and zuko had the final show down with azula and he sacrficed his life for kataras. i find that the show relatioship endings should have been left open for the veiwer. the show was not about the romance. and they say that mai and zuko grew up together had crushes on each other but people grow and change and crave more zuko would look for more then a childhood crush ppl dont keep the same crush through your hole life.

All of Aang's struggles with having to let her go (or so he thought), and then the Avatar Roku's story about how he married the girl he had a crush on would have rendered it an unjust heartbreak... even for Mai that would have been unfair, not to mention Zuko probably wouldn't have even been allowed to marry Katara because though he may have brought peace, prejudice doesn't just going to say. "Kataang" is therefore the most logical.

@emoemofire true but katara "didn't" have to be the one with aang i don't like them together to me its like a freshman in highschool dating the 6 th grade kid who is glued to his video games. I see katara as a strong woman and one who has a war with in her own mind Aang never seemed to calm her. I always saw her doing the calming and caring. now I am going to say I zutaraian for many reasons. I wont get into them but I just didn't like aang for katara or vise versa.

@TheLostSoulaod Regardless, she couldn't have been with Zuko. Perhaps in this way she would have been better off with Haru or Jet. However, he was 113 and she 15 by the end of the show, and while a difference of two years may be a Freshman and a 7th grader, around the time one might assume they would wed (perhaps once he reached 116, although it would be more likely for him to be slightly older as he would probably have to train more), the two year gap becomes much less significant.

@TheLostSoulaod Perhaps it's simply because I'm someone who always has the end goal in mind, but even though in the show they are young pre/teens, the creators of the show still enabled them as normal human beings, so in the end... give both Aang and Katara a few years to grow up and hone their skills (and he'd have Katara as his girlfriend in the time being, likely), then wham-bam, they're adults and the perfect couple. But you're right that as of now, he is at least somewhat immature.

Ok since no one else is going to explain this I guess I'm gonna have to be the to do it. Ok here it is, in the very first episode Aang was 12 but he was in the iceberg for 100 years so he's 112, and katara is 15 in the first episode. Now this episode is ONE! year later meaning that Aang AND! Katara both aged one year!, making Aang 113 years old and Katara 16 years old. Everyone is saying that Aang has aged one year, but no one said anything about Katara, she had to age one year also. Ok the
