oh i remembered the sharp brakes at the end!! And if you sat on the front row they showed your photo on the screen as you came into the station :S It was a bloody fantastic ride :D

Loved this Ride RIP The Black Hole... Ps no comparison to Blackpool as Alton towers know how to psyche You out whilst waiting in the que. They theme moat rides to give u that extra buzz.. And u can never compere American theme parks to British parks as The Americans will always win hands down, but saying that, the big rides will compete with any ride in the world!!!!

I heard that they closed down the ride because of the accidents that took place on it, and 2 people sued them while it was open so, they decided to shut it down because it cost them more money then it was worth. Can someone tell me if this is true or false?

The only thing their missing at Alton Towers now is a Tower of Terror, I know they tried to do a small one with 13 but they could have saved the money and just built a big one instead of joining on a rollercoaster (still like 13 though )

@sweettooth4eva We asked one of the staff in the area why it was closed and they said because they had to weld the track so it didn't cause accidents and they finally took it down because it was deemed to dangerous, but they still have left everything there which is a real shame because they could at least build something else there

@hayes903 Yeah these days but when Nemesis and oblivion came out it was the talk of the theme park world. I still think Nemesis is on par with American roller coasters but your right when they replace corkscrew with Thirteen and say 'it's scariest ride ever' you have to wonder the direction the park is going in.

The Black Hole was bought by "Gerstlauer Amusement Rides GmbH" in Germany.

They have renovated the complete Coaster and now its for sale ;-)

@182wardy the person that died was at blackpool pleasure beach an 11yr old kid stood up in it and got knocked down by a low beam, since then the ride got refurbed with new cars and braking system as from 2009 the ride has been shut since.

Clear a few things up for everyone the ride had similar plans of the Alton Beast later named New Beast it was removed and sent to Europe in the mid nineties so its not at Thorpe park but the ride there is similar, 1998 Fantasy Land was renamed X Sector and to keep with theme it was repainted silver and black the tent now just serves as a memorial to the old ride

The Tent, or more realistic terms, the structure, held the ride. i have been to alton towers many times before it was taken down and removed, the ride was always held in the tent. The new ride, probibly wont be held in the tent as it is only good for the ride which it was built for, black hole, in order to store a new ride in there, they would have to build a new cover or demolish the current one as it was built to the spesifacations of Black Hole. RIP Black Hole.

I have been on this ride a few times, last time i went to Alton Towers is was gone. I have also been to Thorpe Park.... i have a feeling this ride has been moved to Thorpe Park i cant remeber what its called at Thorpe park but its excatly the same, in a dark cover, go round and round then drops, but it goes backwards instead... im sure anyone whos been on both these coasters will say the same.... i swear they moved it to Thorpe park

remember queueing with my mate for this the first time i went on it , very stressed because you couldn't see what you were letting yourself in for, once you were in the indoor part of the queue there was no escape ! remember screaming VERY loud and immediately joining the end of the queue as soon as we got off to have another go !!

Omg, this ride was so awsome. Sounds mad but I'll never forgive Alton Towers for removing this ride (unless they brought it back lol) It was and still is my fave ride of all time. I don't think anyone could explain how this ride was and do it actual justice. Those pics take me right back to being 15 again, ah fond memories. RIP Blackhole

2 Things here:

1 That Picture is definitely of the Space Invader 2 queueline at BPB.

2. There was no crash or anything like that on the Black Hole. The reason it closed is that HSE made recommendations of work before they would certify it for use and Alton decided it wasn't worth the money.

Train had a crash and had no sight or roumor of it being bashed up and had to smack the tracks up and rebuild it safer or make another... no-one knows between the two roumors and there are probably roumors saying that they HAD to take it down and never rebuilt it because basically it was too unsafe to ride due to health and safety arseholes and may because of them... The Black Hole will always and forever be no more. Hope that helped

The black hole in Alton Towers was took down due to ANOTHER ride in another park called 'THE BLACK HOLE' and the track was the same without Alton Towers knowing, the other Black Hole had roumors of a crash, and so.. Alton Towers were told all about this, and the Black Hole at Alton had the same thing done doing to roumors of English paper, while i was staying at alton.. well, i go nearly every year because i live in wales and i had the chance to go on this ride, while i was there...
