  • Anybody know how many spitfire are in England in working condition? How come nobody know the Romanian have one airplane with same performance like Spitfire--IAR-80.On front line in 1942 till end of t- war.made in Romania, included t-engine.

  • Just love how they greese the landings.... damn good pilots

  • When I see so many great planes flying as one in formation with their sweet roaring engines I think pilots in the cockpits could feel real pride of being part of that.I would feel like a master of the world

  • There's something quite comforting about the shape and sound of a Spitfire.

  • Great! The Sitfire is one of the most elegant warbirds and the Merlin has a wonderfull voice!...and yes...sorry i´m German ;-)

  • @Fritztoons Nothing wrong with being German. The Spitfires wouldnt have had anything to shoot at had it not been for the Luftwaffe. Thanks for watching and commenting.

  • @Hanglands

No, you are right. I´m fine to be a German. Just whant to stop "i´m from that Nation and our planes where the best, etc." ;-) We should "digest" all these birds as some kind of technical artwork. No matter what coat of arms. My suggestion....

  • @Fritztoons Engine sound does not have a language, it is music to the ears.

  • @musicbruv

;-)) very nice and true statement!

  • best 6mins ive had for ages watched a few times and the hairs on my neck stand up for an hour after watch. respect to all who gave so much so we could pay our repects 3/4 of a centuary later

  • @MrBige68 Hi there, thanks for watching and commenting. Seeing these planes up close and personal really is quite an emotional experience. It really does make the hairs on your neck stand to attention - thats fact, not a cliche. And as you say, respect to all air and ground crew. Thanks again.

  • Hanglands half drunk is better than my sober ! :).. awsome vid !

  • @crazyfox564 Hey, if you can get to Flying Legends this year, I'll meet you at the beer tent, and we'll put your theory to the test - and have a great time finding out. thanks for watching and commenting.

  • @Hanglands ok cheers lol i might show up.

  • I have created a music album which charts this same period of British history:

Britain At War - Darkest Hour by Rhesus Monkey. The album covers the Prelude to War, The King's Speech, The Battle of France, Dunkirk, The Battle of Britain, and of course The Blitz. I've also created a video to accompany Churchill's address to the United States in June 1941: 'The Old Lion'. You can view that video within my YouTube channel.

  • This is bulls. the Russians won the WWW

  • @isaacrimor Do you mean "This is adult male cattle. The Russians won the World Wide Web"? Because thats what your comment implies. Or do you mean "this is rubbish. The Russians won the second world war"? Either way, your comment makes no sense, who's talking about the second world war? This is air show footage.

  • @Hanglands yea mate dead right where do they crawl out from , just muppets

  • One dislike..must be a Nazi!

  • "Place was packed and I was half drunk"

I wouldn't have had it any other way!

  • Hanglands...no apology needed for being a little drunk when you filed this. Awesome post. Any Rolls Royce Merlin is sweet music to my ears.

  • And it was a kiwi that outsmarted the dirty luftwaffe... Keith Park.... but he was treated like crap by the imperial cigar smoking leather couch pommie eaton boys....

  • absoliyly incredble.

Id salute all the pilots that flew Spit's,and Hurricane's and defended Britain.

right hand up facing out and showing bottom of palm on side of temple.

Nothing but compliment's to the pilots and to the show director's.

    BLOODY DARN GOOD!!!!!!!!

  • 1 ex-luftwaffe pilot disliked this video

  • I'd give my right nut to fly one of those beauties.....

  • @Rossco139 I'd give both of your nuts, God Bless; I watched until I laughed then, I cried, absolutely beautiful. Words fail me.

  • 1:19 pause I want that poster !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • Absolutely beautiful. They sure seem to be a handful to land, though --- hats off to those pilots. Wish I could have been there.

  • brillaint ..pure class thanks for posting this :)

  • OH WHAT A SOUND! of all them SPITFIRES! i wish i had of been there ! i live quite near R.A.F northolt and on occasions spitfires+hurricanes fly over my house ! but oneday a lancaster flew over very low early in the morning what a sight and of course the sound ! i go to quite a few airshows and the sound of a spitfire or a me109 gives me goose bumps! ,............THERE SOUNDS OF PURE HISTORY!

  • What a superb and awesome vid! Although I am not British, I take my hat before those heroic pilots and crews that stood up to fight the Luftwaffe in the summer of 1940. Thanks for posting!

  • @billace90 Thank you billace90

  • the spit is the most beautiful aircraft ever built.

  • propeller engine is much beautifull than jet

  • awe inspiring .It is one of the few things these days that makes me proud to be British.

  • @myketyke1 It was a great feeling, standing in a crowd of tens of thousands of like minded people, applauding the first pass of the Spits.

  • @myketyke1

Makes me glad you folks held out as damn long as you did, before us yanks could join the fray and help you finish off the little paper-hanging lunatic...Spitfire and the fighting Brit will ALWAYS be an inspiration to freedom loving peoples everywhere...

  • @myketyke1 you can ! and I'm french...

  • @myketyke1

    Im not a Brit,

but i agree with you all the way even if im a Kansan.

Hat's off to all the spit and hurricane Pilot's that fought so bravely against germany,

and defeated them in the process.

  • awe inspiring .

  • @flyingp68 The closest Ive ever got to a Humber Pig was watching an Alvis Saracen.... check watch?v=UhlgPvUz4Sc

  • Oh mate! That is sensational.Makes me wish I'd stayed another couple months... Had me in tears :) Bloody brilliant

  • @MasterDownUnder Many thanks for watching and commenting. It was quite a moving sight!

  • fantastic vid, never seen so many spits, many thanks

  • @plooploo1 It was an epic event, never to be forgotten. Thanks for watching and commenting.

  • Brilliant!

    Top vid.

    Between the time 0:13:00 to 026:00, I heard/saw this..........

The Spitfires flew by, the sight of four 'boxes' in impeccable formation was, frankly, 'historic', will we see this in the future?.

    The sound, was thrilling, chilling.

I have attended Airshows, (retired R.A.A.F.), but I've never heard what happened here.

The Spits depart, spontaneous audience applauds, then a lone Spit brings up the rear, left wing down, almost vertical, ,.. they went nuts!

  • @twinstu50 Many thanks for watching and commenting. It was an amazing show, with this massed Spitfire flight as its highlight. It was simply epic... the sound alone was enough to have everyone stood in jaw-dropped silence. The sight of 16 (well, one of them is a replica I *think*) Spitfires wasincredible - you just didnt know which way to look, they were everywhere.

  • 3.12 a dutch airforce spitfire:D

  • minor point; didn't i take 3x the man-hours to produce 1 spit, as againt 1 Me109 ...., in the early yrs, at least; for an aircraft that was no 'better' than it's adversery, thats eine major handicap.

  • Fantastic..

  • @silvialucianunes Thanks for watching and commenting! :)

  • I watched this on Sat and Sun from the other side of the M11 from Duxford - we had Spitfires buzzing over back and forth loads of times for what seemed like ages! It was absolutely amazing - the best air display I've had the privilege to see :)

  • @hernanratso "the best air display I've had the privilege to see".... I can only agree.

  • Just amazing. Wish that I had known about it too! Thank you for a great video, watching it and hearing the sound of the engines brings a lump to the throat.

  • @camelsammy Many thanks for watching and commenting mate.

  • I was ther on the 4th, I think this was the best display at an air show that I have ever seen! It was emotional. Thanks for posting the vid.

  • @Grahamkingdon Definately on I wont forget thats for sure. Many thanks for watching and commenting.

  • Cannons on a spit with early wing markings????

  • @13Filmrisse

If you mean the yellow surround on the wing roundel its a C1 type used from about Late January 1945 till the end of the war. close to the pre war type though.

  • Hey MadMiff! YOU ARE NOT ALONE!

The tears are streaming as I type this message and I haven't even had a beer!

The older I get, the more tearful I get and I'm 46 at the moment.

If I go to any airshow with more than one Merlin being flown I have to be sure I have my black sunglasses on!!!!! I always have a little look around to see if any other blokes have the same affliction but it always seems to be just me.

Glad to hear there are others!

  • @morgandude2

no worries, same age, same feelings even though non-british...but I was also in Duxford on Sep 4th!!!

  • So wish I'd off got my act together and booked my time off !

  • Great vid. Thanks for posting. Can't believe I missed this show!

  • @TheophilusPWildbeest Thanks for watching and commenting. It was a bit 50/50 whether I'd go, but Im so glad I did. It may have been my imagination, but I think it seemed even busier than Flying Legends.

  • I am only 40 and I don't know if it is just me or the reason why, but whenever I see and hear the sound of a spitfire or hurricane I well up and start to cry. Do any other men suffer from this, there is just something about that merlin engine that no other sound can trigger.

  • @MadMiff Well, Im only 36, and I can tell you the sound has a very profound effect on me. So powerful, and evocative. Thanks for watching.

  • Good to see there are 16 Spits still flying; great sound too.

  • @tojoconfused I think there are about 23 to 25 Spits flying in the UK.

  • brilliant video well done ground work aircraft landing and taxi very nice capture good clean clear steady shots nice framing good follow throughts

    great piece of filming thanks for posting 5 * * * * * stars . . . . . . . :)

  • @westmids11 A Very many thanks for your kind (and undeserved) comments. Much obliged.

  • THAT IS AWESOME.
