I never heard of target till the early 1990's then they finally opened stores in nj in the mid 1990's when they opened the menlo park store on the old rickel's site now there all over nj lol
Did you hear it!!!???!!! they said denim at 0:12!!!! Ahhh they even followed the denim target song back then! Shaun White wasnt born yet though so no hoddies for him :)
The pastel colors only come in 3 colors!! 3 doesn't make a rainbow. I would of had a pastel green, or purple. *sigh* the '80 were th good old days. . . . (:
@maxsine1111 Yes, they don't look much like miniskirts to me, either. However, those straight denim skirts were extremely popular at the time. They were practically a requirement for girls at my middle school. I don't think I had any pastel ones, though.
Target first became big around 1980-1981 when they bought "Ayr-Way" stores around Indianapolis. I have no idea why they built no other stores between about 1984-1987, until they bought "Richway" in Atlanta.
Target came into the Bay Area when Gemco went out of business in 86-87, they took over the Gemco sites. Two I can think of are Hesperian Blvd in San Leandro (now Wal-Mart after Target moved to Bayfair) and Dublin.
I love the 80's!

I can't remember Target being around in the 80s either, but I guess there must have been some in my area for the commercial to have been airing, LOL.

Thanks for the info! I'm on the other side of the Bay, so no wonder I didn't remember them being around back then.
